August 6 – 12, 2018 Astro News You Can Use!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - August 12, 2018 - Blog post

THIS WEEK’S ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE!: The Leo Sun squares Jupiter in Scorpio, Venus enters Libra, and the Gemini Moon squares Neptune on Monday, August 6. Have fun, relax, enjoy, & remain mindful that it’s time to realize that no dispute, previous confrontation, or conflict is incapable of being met head on and mediated. Try not to escape into the fantasy that either you are the sole victim here or that burying your head in the sand will bring you greater consciousness.

Uranus—ruler of the currently transiting lunar nodes—stations retrograde in Taurus August 7 and later that night the Cancer Moon makes frictional aspects to both Mars and Pluto. Try to utilize this energy to further your evolutionary push by going deep about the TRUE source of your anger. Uranus’s about face will bring the number of planets currently retrograde to 7, so check in with your inner guidance system and remember it’s time to react & strategize, NOT ACT!

On August 8th, both Venus in Libra and the Leo Sun provide opportunities for triggering AND healing our deepest wounds, aided by a grand water trine between the Cancer Moon, Jupiter in Scorpio, & Neptune in Pisces. Emotional vulnerability continues on August 9 when the Cancer Moon opposes Pluto in Capricorn, Venus quincunxes Uranus, and Venus squares Saturn in Capricorn, setting us up for the arrival of the powerful Leo New Moon solar eclipse on Saturday, August 11. On Sunday, August 12, Mars retrograde enters Capricorn, and we’ll be called to build a stronger foundation around utilizing healthier ways to express our anger AND our proactive tendencies in the future. Namaste…

WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE AUGUST 11 ECLIPSE IS HITTING YOUR CHART? Send your birth date (month/day/year), EXACT time (check your birth certificate if you can!), & city/state/country to Sheri@KarmicEvolution.com NOW or call in live to 844-390-8255 on Thursday, August 9, between 11 a.m. – noon PT & 2 – 4 p.m. ET!

Aquarius Full Moon Lunar Eclipse July 27

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - August 11, 2018 - Blog post

Shock To The System

All full Moons are about release, and this Aquarius Full Moon is no different. However, this one is also a lunar eclipse, occurring at 4-degrees 45-minutes of Aquarius–at 1:20 pm PT & 4:20 pm ET–whereby the Moon teams up with Mars & the South Node in Aquarius to oppose the Leo Sun conjunct the North Node.

To top it all off, the planet Uranus—modern ruler of Aquarius—is squared by both luminaries, the Nodes, and Mars…

So, when the Moon meets Mars, which has been retrograde in Aquarius sinceJune 26 & traveling off and on with the Aquarius South Node, there is the likelihood some sparks may fly.

Aquarius=air; Leo=fire. Together these two elements represent a potentiallycombustible or explosive energetic combination that can cause events to move swiftly. Often the fast-moving Moon (the Moon moves one degree every two hours) triggers events into action and, since Mars won’t exact square Uranus until August 1, the likelihood for such action is ongoing for the short term.

So, if it turns out the that the world remains calm at this lunation, chalk it up to a close call. However, it’s more likely we may see fireworks somewhere in the world between now and August 1 that set into motion change of some kind.

The slightly scary part is that the meeting of the Aquarius Moon/Mars/South Node consolidates energy around past karma, confirming not only that change MUST happen, but also that change may arrive with quite a jolt.

The more impactful the shock, the greater we know is our need for change. But, the more we’ve clung to our past, the harder change will be to handle. This is particularly true for those of us with planets, angles, or sensitive points in early fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, & Aquarius.

To fixity—and this Aquarius Full Moon lunar eclipse is undoubtedly fixed in nature–change is anathema. This means the more we deny, sublimate, project, procrastinate, or otherwise defend against change, the harder it will be to consciously acknowledge that change is the only constant.

And, in such denial, we reinforce our own resistance to progressing into a more productive, co-created karma in this lifetime—future karma that sets us up for an easier time both during the remainder of our life now, and in our next incarnation.

You Say You Want A Revolution

The Aquarius Full Moon lunar eclipse takes the Leo Sun to task as it reflects back to it its own light, a reminder that the Leo archetype cannot live in isolation because each of us comprises part of the greater whole of humankind.

Whatever talents, creativity, generosity, and pride we have deep in our hearts that make us individual entities is supposed to be shared and not hoarded or hidden, so we may contribute to the greater good of all wo/mankind.

At the same time, however, this lunation reminds us also–because we are part of a greater whole—not lose ourselves in “groupthink,” but rather to stay true to our own solar identities for the same reason: so we may contribute our talents to the group.

Some of us may keep our lights hidden under a bushel for a variety of reasons, not the least of which may be fear. Fear of not being accepted, fear of being perceived as eccentric or different, fear of being excluded, exiled, shunned, or cast out from a particular group or groups…

However, by not sharing our individual creativity with the collective we avoid doing our part as a member of society. Individuation is a huge part of our soul’s mission in this lifetime so first we mustbelieve that simply by being alive we have creative worth!

Next, we may release our fears around exposing our true creative selves to the rest of the world. Only then may we claim our individual gifts and utilize them to make life better, not just for ourselves, but for everyone.

The battle royal—or revolution, if you will–at this lunation and eclipse occurs between our ability to honor ourselves as creative, unique, special, solar, divinely-inspired individuals AND yet remain part of a larger group without losing our individual identity.

Without such an individual identity, or solar consciousness, we may fall into the grip of “groupthink,” an energy that leaves little room for honoring the individual solar self.

In her book The Art of Stealing Fire, Jungian astrologer Liz Greene writes: “…the special brand of suffering that Uranus can reflect springs from the fact that the person cannot express a sense of individuality. He or she may be dominated or driven by a revelation or world-view that is collective.”

It may be a revolutionary or transformative perspective on life, but it is collective nonetheless…if someone is trapped in such receptivity to the collective, without any individual sense of self to monitor, sift, or shape the revelation, he or she may lose touch with what is nourishing and creative on an inner level, and many important aspects of personal life may be unwittingly crushed,” according to Greene.

“In its most negative form, these are the polemics of the terrorist, or the polemics of any mass movement…aimed at destroying institutions or structures…deemed in need of radical change,” Greene continues. “Recognizing the need for change may be right and appropriate—although sometimes, like beauty, it may be in the eye of the beholder.”

A Word About Trauma…

It’s the work of evolutionary astrologer of Mark Jones that enlightened me about the significance of both Uranian and Aquarian archetypes as potential trauma signatures in our charts. His work around trauma is brilliant, imo, and some of it can be found on youtube.

His significant work includes providing those of us interested in using astrology as a metaphysical tool an understanding of how trauma can hold us back fromexperiencing joy in our lives–on either a mental, physical, emotional or spiritual level, or perhaps even all of the above…

Jones notes that an Aquarius South Node in an individual’s chart, or Uranus square the Nodes, may indicate traumatic experiences either from this lifetime or past lives.

“Such experiences of trauma are the basis for splitting off parts of the psyche in order to protect the integrity of the whole,” he writes in Healing The Soul, Pluto, Uranus, and the Lunar Nodes.

“The traumatic component of past experience can exaggerate the necessary detachment that arises in this placement, leading instead to dissociated states and psychological dissolution,” Jones adds.

Again, to return to this Aquarius Full Moon lunar eclipse where the Moon & Mars band together to pull us back toward the Aquarius South Node’s potentially traumatized karmic past, the Leo Sun & North Node beckon us forward toward a more cohesive, less fractured ego identity.

It will pay now to look at where we’ve been traumatized in the past. The irony is that Uranus/Aquarius energy often gets interpreted as “alternative” or “different,” but as Liz Greene points out it’s often far more difficult for an individual to march to the beat of her own drummer than it is easy to join in with the crowd.

Past wounding or trauma may center around our ideological beliefs, since the rational, fixed, air sign Aquarius bears the negative connotation of group think and the inability to break away from friends, groups, or association that carry philosophies they believe to be right & true to the exclusion of all others.

It’s these negative past experiences that may make us afraid now to move toward the Leo Sun & North Node at this lunation, and to remain safely back in the comfort and habitual realm of the Aquarius Moon & South Node. After all, when the Moon’s concerned we’re always looking for security. The trouble is that what makes us feel secure because it’s part of the past is not always what makes us strongest, healthiest, or most conscious.

It’s this lunation that may trigger an internal revolt in all of us to move away from safety in numbers and find greater value in our individual selves…

The Only Way Out Is Through

Still, reliving past trauma is by no means fun!

My work as a past life regressionist has proven to me that we can learn uncanny information about our soul’s journey thus far in its travels, and often such information proves reveletory to us.

Trauma centers around feelings, thoughts, & beliefs that our soul has adopted through its past experiences. Often, history has shown that these experiences may not have been pleasant ones. In fact, they may have traumatized us to such a degree that we’ve buried them deep within so that we do not have to relive them EVER–not now, not in the future!

But astrology is the study of cycles, and what goes around comes around. This make it difficult to bury or hide any kind of trauma for too long. And if that’s true, then we know that sometime in our current life’s journey through this physical incarnation that some trauma will resurface from time to time.

This Aquarius Full Moon lunar eclipse provides us one of those times now. We may well see it through the collective, an excellent way to watch the current energy of the heavens reflect back to us both the energy of the collective and our individual lives.

Here are some questions you might ask yourself now:

·        What battle have I been too afraid to fight?

·        Where does my alignment with groups or the collective (read: beliefs or philosophies) impede expression of my own true, solar, creative, individual self?

·        How can I step out from behind the bushel and shine more brightly without anxiety, fear, shame, blame, or the need to play the victim?

The Home Of The Brave

Mercury stationed retrograde in Leo on July 26. This makes six planets appearing to swim backwards in the heavens right now.

The significance of this is that it’s not time for action. It’s a time to review, re-analyze, re-strategize, continue to plan but not to act, and just to generally allow yourself to receive rather than make waves, either in your personal life or within society in general.

Mercury’s backward motion between July 26 & August 18/19, combined with Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, & Chiron currently retrograde, always asks us to chill so that we may recognize that our brain is attempting to bring information that’s been embedded in our subconscious into consciousness.

This lends greater validity to the conclusion that this lunation’s revolutionary energy is meant to be internal! We’re called toward thought, contemplation, review, etc., in order to decipher and plan how to move forward–eventually.

Mercury retrograde in Leo, a fire sign, asks us to go deep about the source ofour inspiration. Fire is life, the spark necessary to sustain us, it gives us our creative ideas which we may take and run with.

While you’re slowing down during these hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer you might meditate upon from where you draw the greatest inspiration in your life and see where your passion truly lies. Passion and purpose go hand in hand, and through greater identification with both, we can all progress on our path toward individuation, or the freedom to be exactly who we came here to be!

The more we work on this now, the less impactful any shocks will be, especially at the August 1 Mars retrograde exact square to Uranus—so no time to waste!

The revolution in which we’re asked to participate at this Aquarius Full Moon lunar eclipse involves releasing any fears around either not being special enough, or thinking we’re SO special that we’re better than everyone else.

This requires bravery, but the good news is that courage is the Leo Sun’s mission! We’re all here to develop the kind of courage it takes to allow our individual Suns (regardless of zodiacal sign) to shine.

It’s now we are to rethink, review, re-strategize how we communicate our specialness to the world. If we’ve fallen into the pit of Leo’s dark side archetypal energy, we may be too proud, too selfish, too arrogant, or too unaware that we’re connected to the whole of mankind.

If we believe we deserve more attention than anyone else, hog the spotlight, think we our specialness is greater than anyone else’s, then we defy our divine right to create and express in order to SHARE our gifts willingly and generously with the world.

We must remember, however, that it’s this connection to our Sun that gives us our purpose for being! We cannot live in a microcosm—we can be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but if there’s no one there to appreciate us, to notice us, what’s it all for?

We have to fight now for our right to consider ourselves unique, special, divinely-inspired individuals, but the fight for the moment is an internal one–a heart-centered one, because that is where we truly find out home of the brave…

The Summer of Love

Appropriate to personifying this lunation’s energy is natal Aquarius South Node Jimi Hendrix, the famed rock guitarist who gave us his famed electric version of The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock in the summer of 1969.

According to Wikipedia: “Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.”

Hendrix’s performance [at Woodstock] featured a rendition of the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”, during which he used copious amounts of amplifier feedback, distortion, and sustain to replicate the sounds made by rockets and bombs.”

Although contemporary political pundits described his interpretation as a statement against the Vietnam War, three weeks laterHendrix explained its meaning: ‘We’re all Americans … it was like ‘Go America!’… We play it the way the air is in America today. The air is slightly static, see.'”

Immortalized in the 1970 documentary film, Woodstock, his guitar-driven version would become part of the sixties Zeitgeist. Pop critic Al Aronowitz of the New York Post wrote: “It was the most electrifying moment of Woodstock, and it was probably the single greatest moment of the sixties.”

Images of the performance showing Hendrix wearing a blue-beaded white leather jacket with fringe, a red head-scarf, and blue jeans are widely regarded as iconic pictures that capture a defining moment of the era.”

Please note: I choose a video version of this song that includes footage of both the historical U.S. civil rights movement  of the 1950’s & 1960’s & scenes from the Viet Nam war. Please be forewarned that some of the images may be upsetting so please watch at your own discretion!

In addition, lest you doubt Hendrix’s influence upon future generations (Aquarius South Node!) of guitar players, here’s another clip of musicians inspired by his electric rendition of

Cancer New Moon Solar Eclipse July 12

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - July 12, 2018 - Blog post

The Mother & Child Reunion

The Sun in protective, sensitive, caring, nurturing, vulnerable, watery & emotional Cancer represents home, family, roots, tradition, mother, security, habit, memory, & the past. In a nutshell, it’s childhood.

Ruled by the Moon, Cancer is your inner child, your emotions, what I like to call your “soul.” It doesn’t reason, it FEELS. And in so doing, it tells us what we need to feel truly secure. But Cancer energy often hides her true feelings.        Deemed too painfully fragile or confusingly emotional to reveal, Cancer subjugates her emotional needs to those of others.

So, while the Cancer archetype shines through the figure of a loving, sensitive, & nurturing mother, her darker archetypal side lies sometimes in coddling & over-protecting her children and, more importantly, herself.

Think of it this way: who wants to expose their most sensitive vulnerable parts to the world? Not Cancer! No! Archetypal Cancer energy is far more suited to deflect attention from its own emotional well-being and to distract people from worrying about her by focusing on taking care others.

Such behavior is often driven by FEAR–fear of exposure of one’s most vulnerable sensitive parts, one’s most fragile emotions–which often sends the Cancer archetype diving back into her shell for safety & the comforting reassurance that no harm will befall her there.

Compassion, understanding, mothering, & security fall into the category of “emotional needs,” at least for most of us.     This Cancer New Moon opposite Pluto calls us to dig down to the bottom of our emotional depths to contemplate whether we’re getting what we need emotionally or not.

Do past memories and habits influence what we think we need to feel emotionally secure? Or does staying tied to the emotional past make us feel better? Do we mistakenly assuming that old habits & behaviors (relationship dynamics, for example) are better (read: less scary) than developing new habits and patterns?

That which is familiar is comfortable, but not necessarily the healthiest, as many of us know.

When the Cancer Moon meets up with the Cancer Sun and both luminaries oppose Pluto in Capricorn July 12 we will experience a showdown between our need to expose our true emotional needs and our desire to keep them hidden.

The question now becomes: what’s truly beneficial for your soul on an emotional level? How can you become your own best, nurturing, mother?

Heart & Soul Of The Matter

Pluto’s about transformation. He says: “kill or be killed.” Any death in our external world—be it literal or circumstantial (say, like the death of a relationship or job, for example)–is representative of an ending.

But death need not be literal, and in fact most often is not. Rather, often death is symbolic, metaphorical, figurative. Literal or symbolic, it’s of utmost importance to understand that death paves the way for new life, and that when something dies it creates space for something new to be born.

It’s simply that often we don’t recognize such symbols, synchronicities, or circumstances for what they really represent, and so we grieve endlessly, pine, whine, beg and cry, praying to go back to the future again though we know it’s impossible…

This Cancer New Moon takes on greater import because it’s also a solareclipse. Solar eclipses are like jump starts to a car battery. Often, they can give us a jolt. We may be shocked, surprised, taken aback, nonplussed, etc., but whether we deem such surprises “good” or “bad” remains to be seen.

An eclipse’s energy may take effect in our lives up to three weeks prior to the actual event, so think back. Certainly, this eclipse’s energy was in play at the June 27/28 Capricorn Full Moon, which aligned Saturn & the Moon in Capricorn and pitted them both against the sensitive, vulnerable, Cancer Sun.

At that time, the Capricorn Full Moon asked us to release unnecessary judgments, both self-judgments and those which condemn others. We could not ask for a clearer archetypal metaphor representing the split between our inner judgmental authority “father” figure and our internal unconditionally nurturing “mother.”

Now, however, as the two luminaries unite in Cancer & face-off with Pluto in Capricorn, we’ve got a repeat of similar energies—at least up to a point since it’s a Cancer/Capricorn kinda opposition still. It’s the two luminaries’ opposition to Pluto that provides us the opportunity to kill off old, outworn, obsolete internalized shadow parental figures of yesterday, yesteryear, or yester-life. Pluto, the king of “endings,” symbolizes quite clearly that it’s our own fear of becoming conscious of our shadows that needs to die now…

Eclipse energy can influence us for between six months to two years, in general, or longer depending on the duration of the actual eclipse. This is a partial solar eclipse, and so likely to be of shorter duration than past or future total eclipses of the Sun.

No, I Would Not Give You False Hope

Take heart, as the intensity ratchets up as we approach the July 12 Cancer New Moon solar eclipse @ 20-degrees 41-minutes @7:48 p.m. PT, 10:48 p.m. ET.

Jupiter, the planet of higher consciousness, stationed direct in Scorpio–the sign ruled by Pluto–July 10 @13 degrees, providing some context for our intensity and for that of those around us. Jupiter direct (expansion of consciousness) in Scorpio (shadow side, secrets, truth, transformation, etc.) provides the opportunity for us to more consciously confront our shadow side–both personal & collective.

And who’s the best protagonist to represent one’s shadow side? Right you are, it’s Pluto! That’s because Pluto’s evolutionary purpose lies with allowing us to transform from being scaredy-cats—you know, afraid of our own shadows!—into strong empowered individuals.

In essence, Jupiter’s station direct in Scorpio increases its expansive affect upon this Cancer New Moon solar eclipse, allowing us to better recognize the not so nice parts of ourselves and to realize they’re not so scary after all…

Meanwhile, Venus entered virtuous Virgo on July 9, proffering us additional background information leading up to the July 12 Cancer New Moon solar eclipse. Venus in Virgo offers us a way to better digest, cope with, & integrate our shadow through the incorporation of daily rituals and holistic (read: metaphysical & energetic) practices.

Don’t Let The Shadow Win!

As with all new Moons, this is an extremely fertile time. This Cancer New Moon solar eclipse invites us to plant seeds of unconditional self-love & self-nurturing so that we may stand strong and work in tandem with the evolutionary forces of Pluto rather than against them.

   How do we do this?

Whenever Pluto’s concerned, it’s always better to go with the flow than against it! And any death—be it literal or metaphorical–clears the way for new birth.

We can start by bringing our unconscious thoughts & behavior patterns into consciousness. While we’ve got so much retrograde activity in the heavens currently, why not review (or look back at & acknowledge) unhealthy habits or behaviors, negative thinking, & harsh self-judgments in the cold hard light of day.

The more we need to learn empowerment, the greater our challenges will seem leading up to this Cancer New Moon solar eclipse. It’s now we may come face to face with that which we fear the most: our unconsciously driven behaviors, so often reflected back to us in the behavior of others.

Yes, that’s what I said: if we’re not conscious of our shadow side, we project that energy out and it’s mirrored back to us through others, particularly as this Cancer New Moon solar eclipse opposes the king of shadows, Pluto…

Only then can we determine whether to continue to repress these negative thought patterns & behaviors, or to plant seeds to begin integrating them into our consciousness so that we may become whole. At a certain point in each of our lives, we’re called to come out of hiding and practice being our own best mother.

Healthy mothers don’t make negative judgments about their children. They don’t treat them badly, cruelly, starve them of sustenance in the form of either food or love. And in that way, they nurture us into happy, healthy, emotionally mature adults who’ve learned how to nurture ourselves.

Try A Little Tenderness…

We may all plant seeds at this Cancer New Moon solar eclipse that can blossom into true internal emotional security & the knowledge that it’s ok to tend to your own emotional needs first.

When that happens, you’ll withdraw the projection onto others of your own needs, stop attracting needy partners, and come clean about what it takes you make you feel happy, healthy, and emotionally secure FIRST before you go out to nurture others…

As always, easier said than done, but Venus–now in virtuous, service & health-oriented Virgo–says we must practice. We all know Rome wasn’t built in a day, so take it slow, as every step forward represents progress toward greater consciousness…

Pluto as an archetypal energy likes to tear down or destroy that which is no longer necessary for us as we make our way along our evolutionary path. The more we resist moving forward, the harder we may fall, at least in our own minds and hearts. So, our mission revolves around getting to the heart of the matter in ways that don’t devastate us.

Now’s the time to discern what we need to feel truly nurtured through non-judgmental self-compassion. We might ask ourselves the following questions now:

·     If I were a plant, how often would I need to be watered (or fed,or held, or listened to, or simply to cry without being judged a wuss or a softie or a pansy, or attacked?)

 ·   What makes me feel secure at my core, makes my heart & soul sing–how can I do (or get) more of that?

·    What can I do to nurture myself without having to rely on others to do it for me? (Be especially mindful of the smaller things you may incorporate into your life on a daily or other regular basis such as meditation, yoga/exercise, or the exchange of one habit for another—such as, say, smoking for juicing, or tv watching for walking!)

When we tend to our own hearts, we need not waste extraneous energy on others and thereby deplete our own emotional reserves. So, asking who or what drains you and/or makes you unhappy vs. who or what lights up your heart because they nurture you?Therein lies the secret of what makes people & all living things grow healthy, tall, and strong!

Here’s Paul Simon’s Mother & Child Reunion, which seems perfect for this Cancer New Moon Solar Eclipse energy!

Mother & Child Reunion

Paul Simon

“No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away

Oh, little darling of mine
I can’t for the life of me
Remember a sadder day
I know they say let it be
But it just don’t work out that way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again

No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away

Oh, little darling of mine
I just can’t believe it’s so
Though it seems strange to say
I never been laid so low
In such a mysterious way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again…
“

Gemini New Moon June 13

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - June 14, 2018 - Blog post

Think About It…

Does all communication serve to clarify, or can it also confuse? Thoughts, ideas, conversations, information—where do they all come from and what do we do with them?

This 22-degree 14-minute Gemini New Moon–ruled by Mercury, god of communication, transportation, early childhood or rudimentary learning, siblings/near family, neighborhood, and local business–calls our attention to these questions.

The Greeks named their messenger god “Hermes,” and noted his capability to travel between worlds—from heavenly Mt. Olympus, home of the gods, to Earth, to the underworld known as Hades. These mythical journeys earned Hermes the reputation as the metaphorical transmitter of information back & forth between a higher consciousness, one’s ego, and the unconscious portion of our human psyches.

Delivering such messages with complete clarity often proved to be Hermes’ main challenge. Known also as the god of the crossroads, by his very nature Hermes indicates that confusion is often par for the course during certain times of life.

The May 29 Sagittarius Full Moon asked us to let go of unnecessary thoughts or useless information that serve only to cloud our judgment rather than clarify for us how we might proceed to arrive at the bigger picture.

By “bigger picture” I mean the larger themes of our lives! Often our myopic focus on superficial information processed through our empirically-oriented ego consciousness prohibits us from understanding that a situation may contain much more than what is immediately apparent to us.

A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right.” ~ Thomas Paine

Gemini archetypal energy, as the third sign of the zodiac–assuming the zodiacal order of archetypes build one upon another—is where we develop through our thought processes a way to coherently view our lives.

When we’re inundated with too many details or too much information, often we don’t know where to put our focus or we lose focus entirely. We can also diminish our ability to discern what information truly matters and which is more incidental and/or less relevant.

Low-side manifestation of Gemini energy can be mental masturbation. Information swirls round & round the brain, one thought follows another and another and another, and in the end, we don’t know where we’re headed. We may even become so overwhelmed & confused we might as well be a dog chasing his tail!

What chance do we have of achieving clarity if there’s too much stuff in our brains or too much minutiae in our lives that prohibits greater understanding of our life’s larger themes?

“Life is an unfoldment, and the further we travel the more truth we can comprehend. To understand the things that are at our door is the best preparation for understanding those that lie beyond.” ~ Hypatia

Gemini is social, curious, loquacious, and easily bored. We know this archetypal energy often isn’t interested in details, as it prefers instead to simply gather, exchange, share, or broadcast what it’s just heard. In a sense it’s naïve, as befitting of an earlier sign of the zodiac, in its propensity to simply accept what it hears and pass it on without authentication or verification.

This can leave us stuck, confused, or anxious about our life’s larger theme orthemes because when we sit down to actually ponder what we know, we may have difficulty discerning fact from fiction.

These past two weeks of the waning lunar cycle have provided time for us to recognize that we may have thoughts that led to beliefs we cannot really defend because we don’t really know—or lack clarity about–from where they originally hailed and whether or not they’re true.

If we’ve created space since the Sagittarius Full Moon by getting rid of useless factoids, “alternative facts,” and/or pieces of information that don’t lead to a logical conclusion, we may now rethink our higher purpose with greater clarity.

Such is the archetypal journey from Gemini to Sagittarius, from early childhood ABC’s to the realm of higher, more complex, but purposeful education leading ultimately to greater consciousness…

If all planetary movements are related to opportunities to grow in consciousness, as I believe they are, then it stands to reason we must ready the ground at this Gemini New Moon for new information to be planted that ultimately better supports and validates our larger raison d’etre…

“Much Learning Does Not Teach Understanding.” ~Heraclitus

We may have managed to catch a glimpse of our higher purpose since the Sagittarius Full Moon May 29. If so, then we’re headed in the right direction, as this means the Gemini New Moon can allow us to plant new seeds in the spaces vacated by anything no longer germane to our true higher destiny in this lifetime.

   What kinds of seeds?

Remember Hermes, who transmits information to us from the higher realms of the cosmos, while simultaneously helping us receive messages buried deep in our unconscious?

Now we may ask ourselves: where do these messages go?

They get filtered through our ego-consciousness, which in turn allows us to discern what we’ll keep as verifiable and true, and what we’ll discard as objectively false.

Now, here’s the kicker: Just because you can’t see, hear, feel, touch, or taste it, does that mean it’s not true?

Ah, here we get into a sticky situation! This Gemini New Moon allows us to gather new information, but we don’t want to fall into the same trap as before! Rather, we want to bring in new information that will support our quest for consciousness, and not squelch our desire to better understand ourselves, our lives, and the world around us…

Till I Reach The Higher Ground…

Retrograde Jupiter in Scorpio’s trine to Neptune in Pisces at this Gemini New Moon may help us to reach altruistically for the stars, as long as we remember to bring our revelations down to earth for processing through that ego of ours.

And, as long as our ego accepts the dichotomy that seeing doesn’t always have to mean believing, and that to believe we don’t always have to see, we’re on the right track. We can believe what we do because we have faith that we’ll be able to properly process whatever information we’ve received from realms both seen and unseen!

Neptune, due to station retrograde June 18 until November 24, may serve to assist us in further dissolving the bonds between our empirically-oriented nature and the more mysterious realm of higher consciousness. Though this may prove confusing initially, we should remember that ultimately from chaos comes clarity…

According to psychological astrologer Erin Sullivan, the purpose of Neptune’s movements, including its retrograde periods, is to “expand one’s perceptions, to move them beyond the consensus reality into dimensions of the supernatural which are just as real, though non-tangible.”

In her book “Retrograde Planets,” Sullivan continues: “Neptune realities are indiscriminate with everything blended into a numinous sphere, which is why it so often provokes exploration of spiritual, psychic, and phenomenological experiences. Finding religion or spiritual solace under Neptune is frequently disappointing in the end, not because of the religion, but because of the supernatural powers attributed to it while in the embrace of Neptune.

“This does not mean that true spiritual nourishment is not found under Neptune, but one must find the spiritual strength within oneself, rather than being ‘saved’ from oneself,” Sullivan concludes.

I’m So Glad I Know More Than I Knew Then

Mercury in Cancer waxes into an opposition to Saturn at this Gemini New Moon, which may cause us to hold fast to our old ways of thinking, which in turn can deny us the opportunity this lunation brings to set the groundwork for becoming less confused and more conscious.

Venus, at the last degree of Cancer now, squares Uranus in Taurus (exact on June 14), telling us the time is ripe to let go of old familiar habitual thought patterns that serve only to harden our mindset rather than make us more flexible. The more we cling to old ideas and refuse change, the more suddenly shocking our experiences may seem now.

Sticking to our old thought processes when they may not be based on solid information—be that information gleaned empirically or supernaturally—is the danger here, as we don’t want to stay mired in the confusion, doubt, or the kinds of anxiety the Gemini archetype can stir in us.

Rather, we benefit from looking at the world through the eyes of a child, and thinking “wow, I didn’t know that!”

However, we know as adults that we don’t have to accept everything we’re told and that we can use our higher mental functions to incorporate new information into our psyches in a healthy way, rather than allowing it to harden or make more rigid our mindset.

Expansion of consciousness comes through understanding, and understanding is obtained by allowing Mercury to do its job of helping us process all kinds of information in ways that serve to enlighten, rather than keep us imprisoned in the dark ages of our own mind…

World, Keep On Learnin’, Cause It Won’t Be Too Long

When we realize that Mars conjoins the transiting Aquarius South Node at this Gemini New Moon, clarity emerges: we are to release old collective ideologies in order to separate from the collective and shine our own individual creative light.

As mentioned in previous posts/newsletters, letting go may come through the reignition of old trauma, in part because Uranus’s Aquarius represents a trauma signature, and the South Node is always about the past…

Since the transiting Nodes shifted into the Aquarius/Leo polarity last ?, we’ve been called to recognize that “group think” is not necessarily the same as what we may truly believe in our heart and soul. This Gemini New Moon highlights for us that it’s time to move forward, away from the “safety in numbers” mentality, and toward developing better critical thinking skills.

Often, “group think” has more of a superficial or simplistic connotation

because, at its worst it can adopt a mob-like scapegoating mentality, always looking for someone or some group or something to blame for society’s ills.

It pays for us each to think now about where we may have participated in past negative group behavior (both in this lifetime and/or during past lives), & how we can now break free from similar participation in the future.

Mars can act like a rocket now, igniting us to blast off toward a future–and beyond!–in which we seek meaning indendant of the collective. We may keep the positive attributes of Aquarian energy now—the “together we stand divided we fall” unity of a culture, tribe, community, or group—but lose the “we know the truth and you do not” mentality behind such societal cohesiveness…

The lyrics to Stevie Wonder’s song Higher Ground
seem particularly relevant at this Gemini New Moon!

Higher Ground

Stevie Wonder

“People keep on learnin’
Soldiers keep on warrin’
World keep on turnin’
Cause it won’t be too long

Powers keep on lyin’
While your people keep on dyin’
World keep on turnin’
Cause it won’t be too long

I’m so darn glad he let me try it again
Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I’m so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin’
Till I reach my highest ground

Teachers keep on teachin’
Preachers keep on preachin’
World keep on turnin’
Cause it won’t be too long
Oh no

Lovers keep on lovin’
Believers keep on believin’
Sleepers just stop sleepin’
Cause it won’t be too long
Oh no

I’m so glad that he let me try it again
Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I’m so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin’
Till I reach my highest ground…Whew!

Till I reach my highest ground
No one’s gonna bring me down
Oh no
Till I reach my highest ground
Don’t let nobody bring you down (they’ll sho ’nuff try)
God is gonna show you higher ground
He’s the only friend you have around…”

Sagittarius Full Moon May 29!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - May 28, 2018 - Blog post

What’s The Point?

The Sagittarius Moon reflects back to the Gemini Sun its own light at this mutable 8-degree 10-minute Sagittarius Full Moon, highlighting for us all the issue of both focus & clarity.

Remember, the Mercury-ruled Gemini Sun can represent a whole lot of puzzle pieces (or bits & pieces of information) spread out haphazardly on the floor. The Sagittarius Full Moon reminds us that–although these pieces haven’t been assembled yet into the whole, bigger picture—there IS, in fact, such a thing…

Therefore, an overall message (read: bigger picture) may seem unclear, lost, or buried under a dizzying array of seemingly superficial, incomplete, & disparate shreds of information…such is Gemini archetypal energy when unable to achieve integration with its higher-minded Sagittarius polarity.

Unlike Mercury’s Virgo, far more attuned to the business of painstakingly slogging through the all the details to ultimately determine a conclusion, Gemini archetypal energy generally lacks such discernment.

Far more concerned with the excitement of gathering, passing, trading, and/or announcing information to friends, family, or the world in general, the Gemini archetype often gets the bad reputation of being flighty, inconsistent, or fickle.

In reality, Gemini energy is simply curious, social, & talkative, which is to say interested in communication in general. However, this archetype all too frequently cares less about the overall meaning of the information it collects, chats about, and/or passes, than it does about simply communicating.

This lack of any real informational depth is reminiscent of the game of “telephone” we used to play in kindergarten, where a phrase is whispered into the ear of the first child in a long line of children. The farther along the chain it gets, the more distorted this phrase becomes. Ultimately the last child speaks something far different from the originally whispered phrase.

This image has validity for us adults, because when we think of the kinds of information disseminated throughout the globe today, we can see why this Sagittarius Full Moon’s purpose is to remind the Gemini Sun there needs to be a context…

I Can See Clearly Now?

The risk at this Sagittarius Full Moon—remember, mutable signs aren’t exactly conducive to disciplined focus—becomes its propensity for great confusion primarily because our focus is so short-lived that it leaves us without a larger context.

The myopia of the Gemini Sun may cause us to “lose track of time and whatever small sense humans normally have of themselves in history,” as MashaGessen wrote recently in The New Yorker. “We forget what happened a month ago. If we look away for a day, we miss news that seems momentous to others—only to be forgotten, too, in a week.”

Highlighting this full moon’s potential for such lack of clarity is the fact that both the Gemini Sun & Sagittarius Moon are waxing into a square with Neptune, the planet of illusion, confusion, & delusion!

   What does this mean?

Well, this waxing mutable square warns us that everything we hear or see mightnot prove to be true. We may have thought we definitely heard or saw it, only to find out later we were wrong…or, we may have been told or shown something that—through a twist of tongue or sleight of hand—proves apocryphal.

Sadge Moon square Neptune in Pisces can sometimes feel her way through the dark, but the dark’s often a scary place & Neptune may well convince her either to scapegoat others out of fear, or to retreat into escapist behavior. After all, that’s a lot easier then venturing bravely out into the big, bad, scary world…

Meanwhile, the easily bored Gemini Sun never thought chasing down Neptune through the shadows & fog ever really sounded like a lot of fun. As a result, he may well take the easy way out and say or do anything simply to get moving onto something far more interesting. You know, like checking out what you’ve got in your wallet maybe, or seeing what sitting in your Porsche’s driver’s seat feels like…

Slippery words and hidden intentions may be hard to discern under this energy, so best not to make any serious statements for the moment…after all, Neptune’s an “all that glitters is not gold” type guy, so it pays to ask for proof when he’s around.

Much better to spend time writing poetry or prose, dancing, singing, playing music, painting, chanting, drumming, meditating, etc., and/or simply allowing in the numinous…after all, from chaos always comes clarity, right?

Here Is The Rainbow I’ve Been Praying For

We’re tasked now—just as at every full moon–with releasing in order to create space for something new at the next new moon. Between now & June 13’s Gemini New Moon, during the waning lunar phase, we might want to up-level our thinking and expand our consciousness around a larger more coherent theme—one we’ll eventually discern out of the information we’re bombarded with now.

If we simply don’t have the necessary information to evaluate a bigger theme in the short term, concentrating on releasing what we know that big picture is not becomes one of our challenges at this Sagittarius Full Moon.

Thus it may benefit us to avoid concrete declarations or commitments for now, at least until the Sagittarius Moon fully convinces the Gemini Sun to let go of any unfounded, irrational, or confused thinking.

Gemini also represents siblings (& cousins, aunts, & uncles), early childhood learning, transportation, the near neighborhood, & local business. If any of these themes are prevalent for you now, they might have to do with rethinking a big picture answer or connecting the dots to info that might have seemed unrelated initially. If so, then coming up with a new philosophy or bigger picture that allows you to think on a higher vibrational level may be your ultimate reward…

Also present at this Sagittarius Full Moon is a grand water trine between Venus in Cancer, Jupiter retrograde in Scorpio, & Neptune in Pisces. A trine, known as easy energy that doesn’t require great energetic output, can move quickly. Water equals emotion, and water, after all, is known to flow…

This grand trine–capable of a great deal of sensitivity, compassion, and empathy—may also entangle us in a web of our own uber-sensitive emotions. In other words, we may be sensitive, compassionate, and empathic to ourselves only but not to others.

This Sagittarius Full Moon cautions us not to narrow the stream of information we need to make decisions and form basic philosophies of life, but to use such information to recognize where we might be internally overly sensitive—perhaps at the expense of caring about others.

The Sagittarius Full Moon reminds us also that it’s clarifying the details & connecting the puzzle pieces the Gemini Sun gathers and offers to us that helps us form a more conscious picture of ourselves, our beliefs, and the world around us…

I Think I Can Make It Now, The Pain Is Gone

Watch for triggers to old trauma as ideological Mars in Aquarius heads for the transiting Uranian-ruled Aquarius South Node. The two begin to join forces now until they conjoin exact on June 8, and off & on again through September 22, due to Mars’ June 26 station retrograde…

Re-wounding may be sudden (such is the combo of Mars/Uranus energy!) However, just as suddenly may come the lightning strike “aha!” revelation that sheds light on the fact that you’ve been there, done that before. In this moment certain knowledge is revealed: that repeating old behavior might serve only to re-wound you going forward.

Now’s the time to allow Mars to spark the release of anything that no longer serves your forward growth in consciousness. Becoming more conscious of the fact that we may choose to move on and away from past pain and/or dissociation by letting go of old wounding patterns can benefit us terrifically during this period…

As transiting Mars approaches to dance with the Aquarius South Node for most of this summer, it feels like a long fuse has been lit. As this heat gets closer to the bomb, there may well be an explosion.

Check the natal position of Mars in your chart, along with aspects to and from the warrior god planet—planet of freedom of choice!—and the house or houses ruled by this proactive energy. Any Mars “issues,” especially now while Chirontransits through the Mars-ruled sign of Aries, that arise during this period clearly indicate old karma ripe for change.

At this Sagittarius Full Moon, the Gemini Sun trines the South Node & sextilesthe North Node, while the Sadge Moon trines the North Node & sextiles the South Node. If ever there was a recipe for clearing away old karma, I’d say this

is it!

Personally, I believe the universe is benign, and therefore has no vested interest in making any of us suffer. Rather, it provides opportunities every moment of every day for us co-create our own future through conscious action.

Regardless of the past, we create our karma as we move forward, & the luminary’s sextiles to the North & South Nodes, respectively, provide opportunities for us to move away from the past and toward the kind of bright future we envision for ourselves. Use this Sagittarius Full Moon square Neptune to dream, but not to act…yet…

Likewise, the trines both luminaries make to the Nodes bode well for easy action going forward, long as we don’t fall into the trap of becoming too self-pitying and playing that age-old victim card. As one astrologer I know used to say “how’s that been workin’ for ya so far, eh?”

Instead, use this Sagittarius Full Moon square Neptune energy to dream, for in the seeds of your imagination and visionary capabilities lie your future ability to clarify the meaning of your life. This, in turn, will ultimately allow you to easilyanswer the question “what’s the point?”

It may take patience to get there–something neither Gemini nor Sagittarius energy is known for! However, flowing with (as opposed to against) Neptune as you make your way from Gemini’s half truths toward Sadge‘s full truth allows us to pause & reflect for a short time…

Meanwhile, Mars will wake us up–undoubtedly–when the time is right in order to enlighten us further. When he does, remember to think & act consciously in order to free yourself from the chains of old, no longer workable, karma so you may create new, positive, forward-thinking conscious karma as you go…
Use this Sagittarius Full Moon as your starting point—follow the stars now and allow Sagittarius to take you on the adventure as you jettison your mundane Geminian worries & exchange them for an exciting & meaningful future!

Here’s an oldie but goodie song that seems appropriate to this Sadge Full Moon energy!

I Can See Clearly Now

Johnny Nash

“I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin‘ for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day

Look all around, there’s nothin‘ but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin‘ but blue skies

“I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day…”

Taurus New Moon, Uranus Into Taurus!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - May 17, 2018 - Blog post

Earth Tones…

At this point, you may have heard or read much about Uranus’s entrance into Taurus on May 15 and freaked out a bit, thinking “oh my god, what’s gonna happen to me?”

So here’s what I wanna tell ya—remember this: Uranus moves into the earthy sign of the bull while Pluto & Saturn currently transit through equally earthy Capricorn.

Though the Taurus archetype is one most stubbornly resistant to change, it’s also the one most capable of providing fertile ground into which we may plant seeds for new endeavors. In short, we may plant anything we’d like to see take root & successfully manifest (read: grow) on a concrete, physical level in this world now.

Meanwhile, the Saturn-ruled earth sign Capricorn ensures such seed plantingwill produce long-term, successful growth of a continually stable foundation.

Saturn’s true purpose in our lives revolves around helping us to mature and create positive karma as we learn and grow. This is why, during a Saturn transit to one of our sensitive individual chart points—be it a natal planet, angle, mid-point, etc.—we may find someone or something leaves our life.

Saturn, known as the “lord of karma,” often gets a bad rep because of this. But I’m here to tell ya that his purpose is clear: Saturn transits clear away from our lives anyone or anything not instrumental to our future growth. And when I say growth, I mean growth in consciousness.

It’s through such growth in consciousness that we mature through better understanding our individuation process, which essentially concerns allowing
our soul to shine through so that we may be exactly who we came here to be…

As this expansion of knowledge around our relationships & connections to the world around us grows—remember, as within, so without—we begin to realize there is more, & we are more, than simply our ego has allowed us to see, feel, hear, taste, or touch.

Saturn-ruled Capricorn—also the sign through which evolutionary Pluto is transiting now until 2023–has much to do with our belief system, or that which we were taught, told, or forced to believe either early in life or during past life karma.

However, many of us do not realize this until we experience some kind of loss or shock, which is when, if we are truly interested in creating more positive karma as we age, we may sit down and take a look at the meaning of our lives.

Inner Vs. Outer Resources…

You’re probably asking yourself about now: what’s this got to do with Uranus moving into Taurus OR the Taurus New Moon?

At this Taurus New Moon, both the Sun & Moon–at 24-degrees 36-minutes of the sign most stubbornly resistant to change—are trining Mars, still at the tail end (29 degrees) of Capricorn. Meanwhile, Mars is waxing into a square to Uranus, itself still at the tail end of Aries & due to enter Taurus a little over three hours after the Taurus New Moon.

If anyone’s noticed that life has been moving rapidly for the past week or so, it’s likely the influence of both Uranus on the threshold of this sign change, AND this waxing Mars/Uranus square. The latter is due to be exact on May 16.

Therefore, we cannot separate these energies from the meaning of this particular lunation.

While usually a Taurus New Moon can represent a time of stability, one inwhich we can surround ourselves with natural beauty, & rest and contemplate how we’d like our future garden to grow, this one is fraught with the potential for sudden change.

However, often with sudden change comes sudden revelation, so take heart!

Taurus is about resources & Capricorn about building long-term foundations, so Uranus into Taurus may well represent a sudden or rapid change to the nature of our resources for the purposes of our securing a firmer long-term future foundation.

First, exactly what are our “resources”?

Defined via the Taurean archetype, resources are what everyone requires not only to survive, but ultimately to thrive. These include the most basic fundamentals: food, water, & shelter.

However, if we’re on a journey toward consciousness, the truth is that these outer resources are nothing more than the external manifestation of our inner “resources…”

So, what are our inner resources?

Inner resources are comprised of the intangible “stuff” (like thoughts & emotions) we need to feel stable & secure—physically, emotionally, mentally, & spiritually. Such security, once achieved, makes it easier for us to operate from an internally solid foundation—one less prone to damage from unexpected weather…

The Body Remembers…

The question becomes, at this particular juncture as Uranus enters Taurus until 2025: do our inner resources (read: those which provide true physical, emotional, mental, &/or spiritual security) derive from the internal wisdom of our true soul?

If so, then we’re likely to possess a solid enough foundation, an unshakable core belief system (Capricorn) that allows us to KNOW deep in our bones that we will survive–regardless of any change–sudden, shocking, unexpected or otherwise–that happens to our outer resources.

If not, & our sense of security comes from an external source or sources (read: parents, teachers, clerics, judges, or society at large) that define for us whatsecurity IS, we may have difficulty with this Uranus transit. Bear in mind, too, that inner insecurities may well have been borne from varied experiences, either in this lifetime or via past lives.

As a past life regression facilitator, one thing I know is that many of us carry both current life AND past life trauma in our bodies. Such trauma can derive from a myriad number of sources—dying a violent death through war or other tragedy, experiencing victimization through physical &/or sexual abuse, being locked up or otherwise abandoned and starved, for example.

Likewise, the trauma of having become victim to the elements through a lack of resources such as food, water, &/or shelter can stay with us from incarnation to incarnation.

We’re talking “soul” lives here, and what I’m trying to say is that often when the body perishes (however that happens), the energy of the soul does not die; rather it moves on, at least eventually.

Can I prove any of this? Hell no! All metaphysics is based on some measure of faith, just as it takes faith to believe in any indoctrinated religion’s “miracles.” Did God really part the Red Sea? Did Jesus really turn water into wine? Did the archangel Gabriel actually reveal the words of the Koran to Mohammed?

What I’m trying to say is that when we discuss the Taurus archetype, as wemust at this Taurus New Moon and Uranus ingress into the sign, we can’t overlook the fact that the body may resonate with negative experiences of yore.

Often it’s these experiences that, if not through our physical bodies then through our thoughts, worries, emotions, etc., embed in our unconscious & cause us to follow a course we deem safest & most beneficial for our soul—even if that ultimately causes stagnation. And when this is the case, we can become mired in OLD fear that resources will prove scarce & therefore cause our demise.

Such deprivation may turn us into hoarders, overeaters, or to have incarnated or grown into believers in the importance of money and material possessions because they “save” us from what we believe would otherwise be certain death. Putting on weight not only insures we’ll never starve to death in this lifetime, it also may act as protection for those who were attacked physically &/or sexually either early in this life or in past lives.

Just as belief in past lives & reincarnation comes down to faith, so may we believe that this Taurus New Moon will allow us to move toward building a stronger internal sense of self-esteem, self-love, & self-worth. And that Uranus in Taurus will bring us rewards, ultimately, through any changes it initiates.

Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Again, remember: “as within, so without…” External change alerts us to internal movement, or the need for change; internal change mirrors external events & circumstances!

Thus, our mission becomes clear, though how to obtain it may remain foggy, especially since how each of us goes about it individually can vary. Regardless, our mission is to bridge this gap so that we integrate these internal/external energies to manifest externally our inner gold—or that which is comprised of self-love, self-value, & self-esteem!

What I can tell you with certainty is this: Any change in outer resources indicates you’re ripe for internal change because you’ve tarried too long, become too complacent or too set in your ways–either physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually.

Such a circumstance says you now need to build, rebuild, continue building,

or up-level any less than solid core foundation of self-love, self-esteem, & self-value because loving yourself decreases your dependence on the outer world, including other people or material resources, to validate your existence…

Helping us at this Taurus New Moon is retrograde Jupiter in Scorpio’s trine to Neptune in Pisces. The harmonious aspect between these two planets creates an altruism that can allow us to see the good in ourselves, and to mirror that benevolence out into the world around us.

Meanwhile, Mars entrance into Aquarius May 16 can help or hurt us, depending on how we roll.

Aquarius energy is about the group; Mars about action. Positively, Mars can provide the impetus behind brilliant outside-the-box ideas that revolutionize your life or the lives of others.

Watch now, as Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius–through which Mars will now travel for the next 6 months—for sudden “aha!” moments or other revelations that can somehow change your life for the better. In this sense, Mars in Aquarius brings us the gift of “a priori” thinking, as ideas arrive fully blown in our mind’s eye.

Negatively, this energy can push us toward groups with ideas that may seem revolutionary at first, but ultimately morph into the same kind of dogma that preceded it. “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss,” as Pete Townsend ofThe Who wrote.

We may see more groups who believe they have “truth” with a capital “T” attempt to overpower other groups who have an equally strong but opposite belief system. Such rigid righteousness is not out of the question with Mars moving into this fixed sign, where it will stay due to its retrograde (except for

a brief retrograde back into Capricorn) throughout this summer & untilNovember 15.

Watch for where in your life you may align only with your own views now and not listen to, or try to understand, other viewpoints. This can get a whole lot of us in a whole lot of trouble, especially because of Mars long retrograde in Aquarius, beginning June 26.

If we like to think that our way is the right way or the only way, we may use this energy to become further entrenched in any ideological beliefs (read also: political) we hold dear. This most definitely bears some introspection, especially for those of us due to go to U.S. voting booths on November 6, about 10 days before Mars stations direct.

The potential for events somewhere in the world to become the match that lights a spark that grows into a conflagration often called “war” is obvious if one simply listens to the evening news right now.

The key, during this transit, is to figure out where is YOUR war? It pays now for each of us to examine our own beliefs, and to figure out where they come from & why, and how we can begin to change them so they benefit us rather than hold us back…

Thunderstruck

Likewise, if Uranus throws you off course anytime during its 7-year journey through Taurus, the question you’ll want to ask yourself is “why?”

As you entertain possible answers to that question, do so with an eye toward figuring out where you’ve resisted change in the past & try to go deep with this…

…and remember at this Taurus New Moon that the Moon is about memory & the past. Where do we engage in habitual behavior we THINK benefits us but doesn’t? Or habits that we developed as defense mechanisms when young but that we no longer need as adults?

Memory’s a tricky thing, often distorted or perverted in some way, often through no fault of our own. That makes this time ripe for jettisoning old habits—particularly those that have to do with the physical body—so you can replace them with something newer, better, and more conducive to changing your life for the better…

Under this Taurus New Moon, plant seeds that bring love & joy into yourheart! Ground yourself however it feels right: go barefoot on the grass, plant an actual garden, envision yourself as part of the earth, hug a tree—whatever works for you! And, of course, meditate…

Also, remember what I said about Uranus joining Pluto & Saturn in an earth sign? What I didn’t tell you is that when anyone or anything leaves our lives it creates space for someone or something new to come in!

So, why get caught up in the depressing fear of losing or leaving someone or something behind, when you can rejoice in the knowledge that they weren’t instrumental to your future growth AND that something new, more exciting will undoubtedly appear?

Meanwhile, allow Pluto & Saturn in Capricorn to assist you in letting go of any outdated, out-moded beliefs that no longer serve you over the long-term. Be confident in the knowledge that the seeds planted at this Taurus New Moon can grow to fruition slowly because we’re working now with the two most foundational transiting energies out there: Saturn & Pluto in Cap!

Recognize on an inner level how, once we feel secure in our bones–the kind of security that no one & nothing can take away or eliminate from our lives (read: Uranus in Taurus)–the greater our capability to establish a firm long-term foundation for ourselves going forward. And that’s regardless of unexpected or shocking circumstances that happen to or around us…

Here’s a video of Imagine Dragons song Thunder that encapsulates the feeling of Uranus into Taurus, at least imo! Note that it was shot in Dubai because the band found its archetecture strange & amazing (read: Uranian!) at the same time! Check out those Uranus-inspired characters! Enjoy!

Thunder

Dan Reynolds

“Just a young man with a quick fuse
I was uptight, wanna let lose
I was dreaming of bigger things
Wanna leave my own life behind

Not a yes sir, not a follower
Fit the box, fit the mold
Have a seat in the foyer, take a number
I was lightning before the thunder

Thunder, thunder
Thunder, thun’, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder, thunder
Thunder, thun’ thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder
Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder…

Kids were laughing in my classes
While I was scheming for the masses
Who do you think you are?
Dreaming ’bout being a big star

You say you’re basic, you say you’re easy
You’re always riding in the back seat
Now I’m smiling from the stage while
You are clapping in the nose bleeds

Thunder, thunder, thun’, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder, thunder
Thunder, thun’, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder
Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder…”

Aries New Moon, Mercury Direct, Chiron Into Aries!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - April 19, 2018 - Blog post

Shoot For (Not At) The Moon

This Aries New Moon may have a shock or two in store for us–of the “change or be changed!” kind–when the two luminaries in this proactive fire sign collide with Uranus, the symbol of unexpected events, also in Aries.

There’s an awful lot of cardinal energy at this Aries New Moon, what with not

only the Moon, Sun, Uranus, & Mercury in Aries, but Saturn, Mars, & Pluto in Capricorn, too.

Cardinal energy is initiative and Aries energy impatient.

The Moon will meet the Sun at 27 degrees & 2 minutes of Aries @6:57 pm PT

& 9:57 ET on April 15 & go on to conjoin with Uranus about four hours later. To say this energy holds the potential to be explosive would be an understatement!

This Aries New Moon brings the two luminaries & Uranus together into the energy force field of the proactive & action-oriented warrior, athlete, or otherwise motivated individual. It’s meet up with Uranus indicates we may be impatient because on some level—conscious or unconscious–we know that we are ripe for some kind of change.

At March 31’s Libra Full Moon I suggested we all think about the following:

How can we find greater balance between going it alone & getting our own needs met?

Whatever answers you came up with at the time are part of what will hit home for you at this Aries New Moon. Whatever decisions you procrastinated making–or perhaps made too hastily–may come back to you now through some sort of change, particularly in the realm of partnerships.

Whenever Uranus is involved, we astrologers also know that the longer we’ve spent resisting change, the more sudden and surprising that change is likely to be. Some the questions you might want to ask yourself now include:

  •  Where have I been feeling frustrated, depressed, or dissatisfied with my life?
  • How has this made me feel: angry, frightened, impatient, sad, or in some other way unhappy?
  •  How do I process fear around the thought of change, and actual changitself? Do I resist it, welcome it, or something in between?

    Over The Moon…

So, remember I mentioned that Saturn, Mars, & Pluto are in Capricorn at this Aries New Moon? Well, not only that, but during the hours leading up to the Aries New Moon the Moon will square Saturn, then Mars, and then Pluto.

These past few days may have seemed up and down for some of us, and turbulence the name of the game. For those who pay attention to the national & international scene, U.S. President Trump last week said he wanted to pull U.S. troops out of Syria soon.

He then announced on Wednesday that he’d rain down missiles on Syria in retaliation for the gassing of its own citizens earlier this week. On Thursday he said he might OR he might not. Friday evening he launched the threatened missile strike, joined by French & British allies.

What’s THIS got to do with your life?

As I’ve noted before, it’s important for those of us attempting to grow in consciousness not to separate the outer world from the inner, but rather to integrate these two energies so that our inner self is in greater attunement with the world around us. If we create our own reality, then we must first define what that “reality” is, right?

So, we can use outer events—even those that may not happen TO us directly, yet still affect us in one way or another—to better understand how the collective’s energy has manifested externally.

In this case, as we’re approaching the exact joining of the Aries Sun to the planet Uranus on April 18–and it’s as this energy grows in strength that we’ll be experiencing the Aries New Moon on the 15th–we can tell what’s going on internally by recognizing how these energies manifest externally.

We can see how the past week or so has been filled with ups and downs, twists & turns, one step forward one step back type energy. And those who are metaphysically-minded also know that “as above, so below, as within so without, as the universe, so the soul…”

This Aries new Moon is a force to be reckoned with because it’s as if once the train has started down the track, it’s hard to stop it. Its forward motion is exacerbated by its pending meet up with Uranus because the combination of Mars (ruler of this Aries New Moon) & Uranus is like a speeding train (or missile) with no brake…

Evolution Vs. Revolution

Pluto in Capricorn has been about the long-term evolutionary trajectory of changing the way we do “business as usual.” Saturn in this sign of ambition & success tells us “slow & steady wins the race,” while Mars in Capricorn is like the general leading the army with deliberation, & planned & well thought out strategies designed to “win.”

While Mars continues to wax into an exact meet up with Pluto in Capricorn onApril 26, it pays to bear in mind that–although Capricorn energy is cautious,

slow, & steady—Mars/Pluto energy is extremely powerful, and not to be underestimated in its potential for explosiveness…   So, while this Aries New Moon challenges us to find new and innovative ways to allow change to happen–but through a measure of controlled action—it pays for us to be aware that Mars will increasingly push his call for action onto evolutionary-minded Pluto!

So, the message becomes both dichotomousand clear: change is coming, but how we decide to handle that change is up to each of us individually. If the spark that ignites change propels an unstoppable juggernaut into action, we might want to be sure it’s heading in the right evolutionary direction.

Therefore, how we all handle any resistance to change through clinging to old ways: mindsets, beliefs, loyalties, security (including to the material world) is key at this Aries New Moon.

If we’re blindsided now, all the more reason to let go; but only to the point where you can hang on loosely! Steering will become important as you go, so keep this mind: sudden actions, be they fortuitous or grievous, can still be handled, and handled well. The key is not to panic or to lose one’s head altogether…

Material Re-E-Value-Ation

Also at this Aries New Moon, Venus in Taurus opposes Jupiter retrograde in Scorpio. This tells us that our values are up for E-VALUATION, and as we pursue our evolutionary course, hopefully consciously, we may also contemplate where or how our values may be out of sync with our true soul’s needs.

   Huh?

This means we can all ask ourselves the question now: Is what we think wewant really what our soul truly needs?

This is always the case with frictional Venus/Jupiter aspects. Jupiter expands, Venus wants what makes her feel good. Both are well-advised to stop and ask whether it’s quantity that will bring true happiness, or quality…

Venus trines Pluto now, too, and from Taurus to Capricorn can be a grounding influence. Just as the slowly building Capricorn Mars/Pluto energy will eventually counterbalance the quickness of Uranus at this Aries Full Moon & beyond, so may this trine temper it as well.

Remember, however, that Mars/Pluto is about evolutionary change while the more fleeting Venus/Jupiter energy is about our true values. And Venus, of course, is also about relationships…

As the Aries New Moon takes up where the March 31 Libra Full Moon left off, it also pays for us to ask whether we find more success in going it alone or together. And, either way, what is our evolutionary end-goal?

Mercury Direct–Wiser Through The Ages!

Mercury stations direct early morning April 15, about 16 hours before the Aries New Moon exacts, and this coming week communication should slowly begin to return to normal.

Wait, watch, & listen for it—your phone will ring, your email will ping, your texts will chime, and letters appear in your mailbox…it’s almost like all will return to normal.

As you begin to wind your way back into the flow of all things communicative, remember this: you’ve just spent 21 days during which your left brain has been suspended, and your right brain reigned supreme.

This is primarily why so many astrologers caution against signing contracts, buying high ticket items, etc.—for fear that our normally logical, empirically-oriented brains will miss the details, the small print, the bottom line.

And often this is true, but let’s remember also that this has been a period during which our psyches have brought up from our subconscious into consciousness important messages from our soul’s higher self. Likewise, objectively learned information was transferred down into the unconscious to become embedded there as true wisdom.

And it’s this wisdom that will be carried with your soul into future lifetimes, just as the wisdom from prior lifetimes was embedded in your psyche to make you as wise as you are today! (Don’t snicker—regardless of any mistakes you feel you’ve made since birth in this incarnation, your soul has to have learned a thing or two from past life karma!)

Saturn Retrogrades & Chiron Into Aries April 17

This coming week will see Saturn station retrograde, Chiron move into Aries– both on April 17–and on April the Sun moves into harmonizing Taurus.

The keyword for Taurus archetypal energy is “serenity,” and hopefully this is what we we’ll all strive for during the next month.

Saturn’s retrograde period—which lasts until September 6—is a one during which if anyone or anything leaves our life it means they were not instrumental to our future growth…in consciousness…

Any departure now—of a person, a job, a material possession—means you have no use for them or it in the future, and the astrological advice is to let it go…often this is one of the hardest lesson to learn…

Yes, it’s true that Saturn can bring tears, sadness, isolation, lonliness, &depression, but please, please, pleaseremember that his mission is ultimately a positive one: to help us all understand that we can make it on our own!

This is to say we don’t need anyone or anything—contrary to what our feelings may tell us—to survive. And, as time passes, not only does a departure create space for a new arrival, but being able to stand on our own means we get to choose who and what we want in our lives rather than simply having to accept what we get!

How glorious to know that if the world were to disappear right in front of our very eyes, we’ve got what it takes to survive because we are our own best friend, nurturer, and authority!

Saturn always says “the buck stops here,” and his purpose is to mature us ot the point where we can sustain any setbacks and not only survive, but thrive, because we always know we have ourselves to depend on and trust.

   And that’s a good thing…

Chiron’s another story, as he moves from the watery Piscean domain he’s inhabited for the past eight years into fiery independent proactive Aries energy on April 17 until June 19, 2026. (He will retrograde back into Pisces twice during this period, but more on that anon…)

Chiron’s move into Aries tells us all the time is ripe to begin (or continue) to heal wounds around any inability to express our personal will, be it on a mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual level.

So plant new seeds now at this Aries New Moon that state your intentions: if you’ve been too dependent on others for your own happiness, use this time to nurture & grow self-confidence & self-love.

If you’ve been too independent, & in being this way denied your own need for nurturing, take this Aries New Moon opportunity to institute into your life some self-care and perhaps explore where you might unburden yourself through the help of another or others.

Let’s face it, most of us did not come here to be alone. But neither did most of us come here to remain co-dependent our whole lives. Use the enegies of this potentially explosive change-oriented Aries New Moon to recognize in what area of life change is necessary, roll with it, but then seize the tiller & navigate your way toward your desired evolutionary future!

Here’s a song that I think perfectly fits this Aries New Moon energy:
Bob Dylan’s revolutionary ode, covered by Tracy Chapman

The Times They Are A’Changin’

Tracy Chapman

“Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown

And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again

And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be who has stalled

The battle outside ragin’
Will soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand

Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast

As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin’
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’…”

Libra Full Moon March 31!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - April 11, 2018 - Blog post

The Course of True Love Never Did Run Smooth

The Libra Full Moon, which represents the polar opposite of the Sun’s Aries energy, reminds us all that relationships are not only important, but that to sustain them we must remain open to compromise. It highlights also the fact that our partnerships may sometimes require a lot of hard work…

The Aries Sun likes to have its way–it’s an energy that desires movement because archetypally it encompasses action and motivation. However, the Libra Moon’s opposition to the proactive Aries Sun emphasizes that one cannot disregard or forget the other’s needs and perspective.
Libra is great at looking at both sides of a situation and finding balance, whereas Aries acts on instinct and impulse. So, this Libra Full Moon cautions the Aries Sun that to act alone is not always the wisest course.
Leading up to this Libra Full Moon was March 28’s union of harmony-seeking Venus with changemaker Uranus, both in Aries. You may have experienced anything ranging from
a pleasant surprise &/or enjoyable break from your daily routine to something a bit more shocking, depending on where this meet up occurred in your chart.
Because Mars, the ruler of Aries, is now in serious Capricorn, it’s likely that whatever surprise hit you, it was not too unbelievably crazy and maybe even had a stabilizing effect…
The evening before the upcoming Libra Full Moon, Venus moved into her own sign of Taurus. She thus becomes the ruler, or dispositor, of the Libra Moon, which may temper our jitters a bit and presage a more even-keeled response to whatever’s been set in motion, both on the global stage and our more personal one…

Duty To Others Or Duty To Self?

When the Aries Sun squared Saturn in Capricorn on March 29, two days before the March 31 Libra Full Moon, it may have filled us with doubt. Hard on the heels of March 28’s Venus/Uranus meetup and as the Moon now waxes full—this can be serious and potentially dispiriting energy.
As always, frictional contacts between the Sun & Saturn can frustrate us at best & depress us at worst. It’s an energy that can make us feel lonely & isolated. However, the message following the recent Venus/Uranus combo is that we may all be forced to face some kind of unexpected reality now …
According to renowned astrologer Robert Hand, who wrote the book Planets InTransit, this Sun/Saturn combination can result in conflict between our sense of duty to others and our obligation to self.
The two questions you must resolve now are: how much self-gratification do you owe yourself, and what duties and responsibilities do you owe to others?” Hand writes. “Today will be categorized by conflict between these two poles, duty & self-gratification.”
At this Libra Full Moon, which squares the waxing Mars/Saturn conjunction, we are all called to search our hearts for where any unexpressed simmering frustrations may lie based on this kind of conflict.

The Will To Succeed

Mars is approaching an exact conjunction to Saturn on April 2, and as these merging energies continue to grow in strength at this Libra Full Moon, they represent the potential for a powerful commitment.
On a personal level, look to where any deviation in your routine recently might have larger implications—either positive or negative—for your current relationships. The recent Venus/Uranus conjunction may well have triggered something into motion, based on your own past actions, that is not over yet & which could lead you closer to a stronger commitment…
Such a commitment, however, might require a certain measure of compromise…

The key to navigating Mars/Saturn energy is always hard, concentrated work. Such work may be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, but as long as we remember to apply concentrated (Saturn) energy (Mars) to the task at hand, we can triumph in the end.

Basic archetypal Mars energy always wants action, while Saturn’s major inclination is to build foundations. A Mars/Saturn conjunction says “apply yourself to something you desire and make it manifest!”

What’s the logical outcome when these two energies play nice together?

   A feeling of accomplishment!
What do you want to achieve vis-à-vis your partnerships at this Libra Full Moon? You might ask yourself now: How can I get what I want without trampling on the rights of another? And: How can I find the happy medium in relationship without sacrificing my own right to the pursuit of happiness?
It’s possible at this Libra Full Moon to solidify our partnerships in one way or another. And, remember that Libra energy represents not only significant other relationships, but those with whom we have any kind of partnership, including with parents, siblings, children, lovers, friends, colleagues, etc.

All For One Or One For All?

This Libra Full Moon calls us to weigh the balance between going it alone (the Aries Sun) or making it together (the Libra Moon.)

While deciding your path forward consider whether frustrations inherent in any partnership make it worth engaging in or not, and whether–if compromise is called for–you can get more flies with honey than with vinegar.
After all, might not a measured tempered response to whatever’s going on in our individual lives prove conducive to a stronger, longer lasting commitment in the end?
Remember, it’s not always what happens to us, but rather how we choose tohandle it that matters most. As we co-create our futures, we might ask ourselves now whether we can let go—full moons are always about release, after all—of any frustrations or hardships around our relationships and forge a steadier future, while also being true to ourselves…
It’s a given that relationships are never without their road blocks or frustrations! This Libra Full Moon is not about avoiding such frustrations, but rather initiating conversations—both internal and external–that may reduce impediments to their smooth functioning going forward.
The energies in play right now call us all to work through the areas where we might not see eye to eye with any particular partner currently in our life. The fact that Libra, Aries, & Capricorn are cardinal signs—or signs that like to initiate action–bodes well for pushing through obstacles to work together energetically.
The down side, however, is always the possibility that we might act too quickly out of frustration.
Of course, relationships are our mirrors, so when we look at them as opportunities to learn more about ourselves we may gain a particular advantage as we move individually toward greater consciousness in this lifetime.
We might ask ourselves the following questions at this Libra Full Moon:
  • Where am I frustrated because I commit to another/others more than to myself?
  • How can I find greater balance between going it alone & getting my own needs met?
  • Where might I need to mature in my relationships—not only my partnership with others, but with myself?
Full Moons are always about release, and this one asks us to ponder the dilemma of whether our commitment to another or others helps or hinders us in our karmic growth. Letting go of anything that does not serve the cause of finding balance in our lives is not only productive, but will likely bring future peace & harmony…

Don’t Forget–Mercury’s Still Retrograde!

All of this occurs against the backdrop of Mercury’s current retrograde in the fire sign Aries.
It’s a good idea to note that Mercury’s retrograde cycle will travel through all three fire signs in 2018. The messenger god’s journey through the fire element began late last year in December and continues throughout 2018.
This means it’s time to review how incorporating more creative play into our lives can spark our inspiration. Erin Sullivan, in Retrograde Planets, advises we all ask ourselves this question both now and as Mercury retrogrades through the other fire signs this year: How can my inspiration create my future?
The current Mercury retrograde cycle through Aries until April 15 forms part of the shorter-term backdrop for this Libra New Moon. The advice is still review, review, review!–particularly in the realm of your partnerships!
Check in with yourself and try to ascertain now whether or not you’ve been incorporating that creative spark into those partnerships you want not only to survive, but to thrive…as well as whether you’ve compromised too much or not enough…
How can you recommit, or simply commit, to listening to another’s point of view right now? Likewise, can you speak up and make your own needs known, particularly if you haven’t in the past? Harboring resentment without trying to communicate where you feel slighted does not a happy long-term relationship make…

The Nodes Know…

Finally, and of note, the two luminaries make beneficial aspects to the transiting Nodes, indicators of karmic destiny.
The Libra Moon sextile the Leo North Node—the indicator of future karmicdestiny–tells us that however we choose to handle our relationships now, we’ve got the opportunity to shine our own light within our partnerships, rather than eclipsing it behind someone else.
And the Aries Sun’s sextile to the Aquarius South Node–indicator of past karmic energy–likewise provides us all the opportunity to jettison any past karmic baggage, particularly around trauma, that’s held us back from either making or attracting a successful commitment in our lives…
Figuring out how to give voice to any seemingly minor dissatisfaction within your relationships that you’ve sat on to the point where they’re now ready to explode is key to this Libra Full Moon’s energy.
Remember, without taking a step back and applying perspective, abused often become abusers, and persecuted oppressors. Seek to avoid this and call on this coming lunation’s powerful energy to release all conflicts that do not serve your highest and best purpose here on Earth…
Namaste…

Virgo Full Moon March 1

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - March 1, 2018 - Blog post

The Fault In Our Stars?

If you’ve been feeling like you’re drowning lately, take heart! With all the Piscean energy in the sky recently, it’s no wonder that any of us feel we simply can’t muster up either the energy or the consciousness to move ahead with purpose…

However, this Virgo Full Moon comes along to remind us that we can CHOOSE to believe several things:

  • From chaos comes clarity
  • Surrender doesn’t mean giving up
  • The role we play doesn’t have to be forever

This Virgo Full Moon opposes not only the Sun, but also Neptune, & by polarity Mercury, Venus, and wounded healer Chiron in Pisces, the sign of the fishes. These polar opposite signs involving the two luminaries–the Sun (ego) and the Moon (heart)–alert us to the fact that dreaming and fantasizing are fine, as long as we don’t lose ourselves in that realm forever…

Neptune-ruled Pisces is represented by two fish yoked together and attempting to swim in different directions: one back toward source energy; the other out in the world into this thing we call life…

An inherent dichotomy arises when we’re unsure of in which direction to place our energy. Do we heed the siren’s call to swim back into the protective womb, where life is easy and all our needs are miraculously automatically met? Or do we venture bravely out into the scary unknown that we call life?

The potential for confusion is easily understandable, no? Regardless, the answer, as always, lies with the integration of these two archetypal energies.

This Virgo Full Moon reminds us that swimming “home,” back to whence from which we came, has its dangers. It keeps us dependent, infantile, and addicted to the blissful not-knowing-ness of the womb where when hungry we were fed, when tired we slept, and we didn’t have to be responsible for any damn thing!

It’s for this reason Pisces archetypal energy can manifest in intangible or the blurriest of ways. Often, it’s behind any confusion, illusion, or delusion we may experience that drives us to drink, drug, sleep, eat, or in any other way “check out” of our painful mundane reality via such self-soothing “remedies.”

However, this Virgo Full Moon tells us there’s another way! It infuses a dose of reality into our world.

   How?

The Virgo archetype is about discernment—the kind that reminds us the devilis in the details, and that the overall forest is comprised of individual trees.

Recently, we may have felt like we’re looking at an impressionist painting up close, where individual brush strokes seem disconnected from the whole, and therefore make no sense.

But, wait! Take a step back, and another, and another, and if you do, slowly it can all come into focus at this Virgo Full Moon—and you’ll be able to see t hemarvelous Renoir water scene, beautiful Cezanne landscape, or colorfully busy Seurat picnic in the park!

What’s required here is FOCUS in order to become cognizant of both sides of these polar opposite archetypal energies. And where we choose to put our focus is up to us. In other words, it’s always a matter of choice…

For example, we can choose to remain stuck in the Piscean realm where we feel like we’re drowning & helpless, find fault in our stars–or we can focus our energy on the knowledge that this is simply one energetic end of a wide-ranging spectrum.

Give It Up…

All of this Piscean energy opposite the Virgo Full Moon asks us to lift our heads up and look around. It signals that, while we may experience confusion, despair, fatigue, and/or depression, that maybe, just maybe, we can have our cake and eat it too…

…but there’s a price, and that comes in the form of deciding what we must give up…since deciding what needs to go can be a difficult question to answer, let me break it down at bit:

First and foremost, this Virgo Full Moon reminds us that playing either the victim or the martyr won’t work. And that’s mostly because both of these roles involve too much, er, EGO…

When Pisces energy is involved, a victim’s ego can be wrapped up with her myopia; her inability to see the forest from the trees, to not be able to make out the impressionist painting’s overall scene. Thus, her pain becomes most important–her feelings of abandonment, righteous indignation or rage, grief, depression, etc.–take precedence over everything else.

Am I victim-bashing here? No, I’m merely pointing out that one can don the clothing of “victim” and mire oneself in despair to the point where one feels hopeless. It’s then we may cease to take matters into our own hands, and instead choose to blame another or others for injustices done to us.

“Take your life in your own hands, and what happens?
A terrible thing: no one to blame.” ~ Erica Jong

So, what do we do when we feel everything slipping away? Maybe it’s our significant other, family, job, children, finances…or maybe it’s bigger even than that, like someone’s death. Maybe it feels like loss, grief, anger, or confusion around our goals, plans, hopes, wishes, & dreams…

The Virgo Full Moon reminds us that its energy can add earthy stability through healthy daily—or regular–rituals that fit into your regular routine, such as focusing on adding into our busy schedules:

  • A Gratitude list
  • Meditation
  • Healthy diet
  • Regular exercise
  • Spiritual/psychic protection
  • Creative outlet, no matter what that might be

Concentrating on adding even one of these things to your daily “to do” list will go a long way toward reducing the escapist tendencies often felt by those who carry a heavy dose of the Neptunian/Pisces archetype.

This goes for everyone, however, as the tendency for any one of us to feel surrounded by chaotic river, lakes, or oceans to which we must surrender ourselves and simply go with the flow is strong…

When we feel this way, we must indeed go with the flow, but not surrender to feelings of helplessness. Rather, we can harness the ongoing chaotic swirl of life not by making logical sense of it, but rather by honoring it.

The ancients believed that gods demand sacrifices. Perhaps that’s a strong word, one that makes us think we have to give something up in order to survive.

The truth is that what we’re asked to “sacrifice” at this Virgo Full Moon—remember, full Moons are always times of release!—is any victim or martyr tendencies.

  Take Heart!

Venus’ trine to Jupiter at this Virgo Full Moon signifies we can expand our consciousness around what it is we truly value now.

Jupiter always asks us to be conscious, while Venus seeks to find out what it is our soul truly values. So, we can interpret this aspect falling at the Virgo Full Moon as on that can help us decide on what we place more value: staying helplessly stuck in the kind of hopeless ennui we may feel now—or moving forward through Virgo energy to take some sort of action, even if it’s simply mental.

Even letting go, or surrendering a thought–giving it up go God, as they say in Alcoholics Anonymous–can make space for something newer to come in–something more empowering, less self-critical, and more attuned to listening to your real inner voice, not the negative one you’ve internalized from external critical voices.

Mars’ square to Mercury, Venus, & Chiron now also tells us that it’s less beneficial for us to beat up ourselves (or others), especially through the way we think or communicate, and to stop and figure out what we’re really annoyed with, or what’s really hurt us.

Chances are if we go deep and heed Erica Jong’s advice, we’ll figure out it’s actually not someone else, but rather ourselves with whom we’re annoyed.

So use that Venus/Jupiter trine to expand your consciousness and the Virgo Full Moon to release all that does not serve as you move forward more consciously in this lifetime…

And honor spiritual self when the Sun conjoins with Neptune on March 4…your dreams can come true, but you’ve got to put your will behind them in order to make them happen…

The Virgo Full Moon says release confusion, doubt, insecurity, and reliance upon any inner voices that tell you you’re no good, not worth it, untalented, lack imagination, or are simply unworthy.

This Virgo Full Moon is perfect for Kesha’s song/video “Praying,” which depicts her at the beginning lying on a cross-like structure giving voice to the stereotypical Piscean dilemma: what IS the purpose & reason of life if living includes suffering? It follows to a Piscean conclusion that “being alive hurts too much.” But, as Kesha sings, there’s another way that involves CHOICE:

“Am I dead? Or is this one of those dreams? Those horrible dreams that seem like they last forever?
If I am  alive, why? Why? If there is a God or whatever, something, somewhere, why have I been abandoned by everyone and everything I’ve ever known? I’ve ever loved? Stranded. What is the lesson? What is the point? God, give me a sign, or I have to give up. I can’t do this anymore.
Please just let me die. Being alive hurts too much.”

Praying

Kesha

“Well, you almost had me fooled
Told me that I was nothing without you
Oh, but after everything you’ve done
I can thank you for how strong I have become

‘Cause you brought the flames and you put me through hell
I had to learn how to fight for myself
And we both know all the truth I could tell
I’ll just say this is I wish you farewell

I hope you’re somewhere praying, praying
I hope your soul is changing, changing
I hope you find your peace
Falling on your knees, praying

I’m proud of who I am
No more monsters, I can breathe again
And you said that I was done
Well, you were wrong and now the best is yet to come
‘Cause I can make it on my own
And I don’t need you, I found a strength I’ve never known
I’ve been thrown out, I’ve been burned
When I’m finished, they won’t even know your name

You brought the flames and you put me through hell
I had to learn how to fight for myself
And we both know all the truth I could tell
I’ll just say this is I wish you farewell

I hope you’re somewhere praying, praying
I hope your soul is changing, changing
I hope you find your peace
Falling on your knees, praying

Oh, sometimes, I pray for you at night
Someday, maybe you’ll see the light
Oh, some say, in life, you’re gonna get what you give
But some things, only God can forgive

I hope you’re somewhere praying, praying
I hope your soul is changing, changing
I hope you find your peace
Falling on your knees, praying..
.”

Aquarius New Moon Solar Eclipse February 15

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - February 15, 2018 - Blog post

Free To Be Who You Are

The Aquarius New Moon highlights this archetypal sign of friendship and community. In essence, it’s the sign of humanitarianism–love for the collective, not in a spiritually empathic Neptunian “there but the for the grace of God go I” sense, but rather through a “united we stand, divided we fall” ideology.

The English language has but one word to describe “love.” In reality, however, when you think about it, love comes in several different forms–from romantic to erotic, from comradely love to love of family, community, country, etc.

As such, this Aquarius New Moon presents us with a time during which we mayplant seeds around our commitment to groups and their causes, and to those toward whom we feel brotherly/sisterly love.

However, there’s a paradox here. Above all, Aquarius energy represents our commitment to our own sense of individuality, our freedom to individuate and to be who we truly came here to be.

Jungian analyst and astrologer Richard Idemon defines Uranian/Aquarian love in his book “Through the Looking Glass” as agape, which brings with it the ability to say “I love you enough to let you more fully and completely be who you are. Indeed, the more you are fully and completely yourself, the more I love you; and this is because the more you are completely who you are, the more I can be fully and completely who I am.

“The image associated with Aquarius is the water bearer, a god pouring water or a fluidlike substance from an urn,” explains Idemon. “The urn and its contents represent love as a gift from the gods…the urge of agape is for each one of us to offer as a form of love those things we have learned through our individual journeys and our suffering…

“Heroes and heroines go through their heroic journey and then bring back the gifts of truth, freedom, enlightenment, cleansing or redemption to share with humanity,” according to Idemon. Agape awakens and frees us at the same time because it has “a kind of Humpty Dumpty effect—it hits us and off the wall we fall…if we are truly living in process, if we are growing and evolving, we must expect and accept that change is part of life.”

What About The Solar Eclipse?

This partial solar eclipse at the Aquarius New Moon occurs at 27-degrees and 7-minutes of the sign of the water bearer. This is within two degrees of opposition to last year’s August 21 total solar eclipse at 28-degrees 53-minutes of Leo.

Solar eclipses are, in general, more likely to manifest externally while lunar eclipses may bring forth more hidden internal emotional issues. This partial solar eclipse is part of a pair—it falls under the same auspices as the January 31 Leo Full Moon total lunar eclipse, and so it carries the same theme.

That theme includes new ideas, according to astrologer Bernadette Brady, who wrote in her book “Predictive Astrology: The Eagle and the Lark” that “if this eclipse affects your chart, you will be flooded with new ideas or options. There may seem to be an element of haste, but if you can go with the new ideas, they will have positive outcomes.”

A solar eclipse occurs at a New Moon when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, causing the light of the Sun to be obscured. A total solar eclipse obscure’s the whole of the Sun’s light from the vantage point of Earth, while a partial solar eclipse allows only a portion of the Sun’s light to either shine or be hidden.

Whether an eclipse is total or partial is determined by the orb (number of degrees) between the Sun and the transiting Nodes of the Moon. Ergo, it’s the position of the transiting Nodes that determines whether or not any given New Moon is a solar eclipse or not.

Either way, it’s still important to recognize where an eclipse occurs in your chart (in what house this eclipse degree falls), and to note whether or not it touches any sensitive points (planets, angles, etc.) in your own horoscope.

Remember, at this partial solar eclipse we’re all about planting those new seeds, some of which will come in the form of ideas. Since the same energy has been in play since January 31’s total lunar eclipse—though that was a time of release—let’s ask ourselves what we’ve been able to let go of in the form of ideas that no longer serve us well in order to make room for newer, more exciting or revelatory ones.

Now is the time for beginnings. People, external events, or circumstances may prompt new ideas that will allow you to shine that light of yours defiantly and proudly out into the world in a way that benefits not just yourself but others too!

What About Us?

It’s our individuality that makes us special and unique, and it’s our specific hero’s journey that enlightens us about exactly how unique we are, in what ways, and how this differentiates us from the herd.

At this Aquarius New Moon, we’re asked to dig deeply into the water bearer’s urn and discern and assess exactly what’s in it. Joseph Campbell called this the “boon” or “elixir” that we search for as part of our hero’s journey quest.

Why?

Because this is how we make our greatest contribution to the collective. It’s how we add our own specific and special individual divinely-inspired gifts to the group by first defining our gift or gifts, and then releasing them into the group for its betterment–the betterment of wo/mankind.

The message of the transiting nodal axis is still the same as it’s been since May 9, 2017 when it shifted regressively into new signs—the South Node into Aquarius, the North Node into Leo. We’re to take our special gifts, those that we simultaneously brought to the group and those that set us apart from the collective, and bring them forth in ways that allow us to shine as individuals.

Supporting this Aquarius New Moon in its mission are Mars and Vesta in Sagittarius (the latter symbolic of the eternal flame lighting the prodigal son’s way home) sextile the South Node and trine the North Node. This “easy” energy may just provide the necessary push (read: opportunity) to remind us of our true goal.

At the same time, Mercury in Aquarius (aligned now with the Moon, Sun, & Juno—the archetypal “wife” or partner) sextiles Aquarian ruler Uranus in Aries. Opportunities for new ideas—no matter how fast or from how far out of the blue they come—may be just the match we need to help us light our own special divinely-inspired fires and shine them into the world.

Also, a sextile between Venus in Pisces and Saturn in Capricorn provides a groundedness and welcome balance to the airy energy of this Aquarius New Moon. It asks us to ponder: where can we find opportunity through our compassion and empathy to carry out our duty to family, friends, colleagues, community—but most of all to ourselves—without sacrificing our individuality now?

Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself

You might want to keep this in mind, as well, as Mars approaches a square to Neptune at this Aquarius New Moon. This square will exact on February 17, the day before the Sun moves into the sign of Pisces and, leading up til then, may well have us doubting ourselves, especially in terms of our physical energy.

Mars square Neptune can bring fatigue and depression, but greater trouble may result from our own tendency to second guess our intuitions and allow ourselves to fall prey to the deceitful words or actions of another or others.

Don’t get sucked into believing that a group’s cause is the same as your own if that group does not appreciate the special gifts you bring to it!

In his book “Planets In Transit,” astrologer Rob Hand warns of “low physical energies” with this transit, and to “watch out for fevers, cuts, burns, infections and the like, along with allergies and excessive physical strain.”

How can we better utilize the Mars square Neptune energy? The key lies with the fact that this square can also endow us with great intuitive power. Allow your feelings to guide you, but maintain strong enough boundaries so as to not fall into any deceitful trap or—worse yet–beat yourself up if you do!

Rather, allow yourself to forgive yourself for any sob story you may have bought from others, any metaphorical Brooklyn Bridges you may have purchased. In doing so you’ll be able—at least eventually—to forgive your deceivers as well.

Venus is approaching Neptune now (exact conjunction on February 21), and we know that if we have the capability to feel compassion for ourselves in the form of forgiveness, we may then feel the same toward others.

This is key! Remember, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me! Use this energy to become conscious of your patterns and to transform them from the kind of deficit inherent in continually playing the victim into the empowerment and strength necessary for self-forgiveness…

At this time, Neptune also forms a quincunx to the Leo North Node, challenging us to remember that one way to reward ourselves when we’re able to pierce any bubble of negativity in which we may be hiding or existing is through creative expression, or the enjoyment of another’s creativity.

Make music–or simply listen to it–attend a dance event or simply dance, read or write, drum, meditate, pray, paint or go to a museum. In short, appreciate that the universe surrounds you with beautiful, pleasurable experiences as long as you take the time and opportunity to stop and smell those roses…above all, best to heed Rob Hand’s warning now to “try not to become demoralized! Conserve your energies, confront your fears!”

Here’s Pink’s What About Us, an appropriate question to ask as we all ponder past changes in our lives and if it’s time now for us to stand up and be counted:

What About Us

Pink

“We are searchlights, we can see in the dark
We are rockets, pointed up at the stars
We are billions of beautiful hearts
And you sold us down the river too far…

What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
What about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
What about us?

What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
What about love? What about trust?
What about us?

We are problems that want to be solved
We are children that need to be loved
We were willin’, we came when you called
But man, you fooled us, enough is enough, oh

What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
What about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
Oh, what about love? What about trust?
What about us?
Oh, what about us?

What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
What about love? What about trust?
What about us?

Sticks and stones, they may break these bones
But then I’ll be ready, are you ready?
It’s the start of us, waking up come on
Are you ready? I’ll be ready

I don’t want control, I want to let go
Are you ready? I’ll be ready
‘Cause now it’s time to let them know
We are ready, what about us?

What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
So what about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
Oh, what about love? What about trust?
What about us?”

Namaste…
