Learning How To Let Go Of What You Thought Was Necessary
“Excessive fear is always powerless.” ~ Aeschylus
The Big Picture:
Pluto, one of three outer planets that represent your subconscious self (Neptune & Uranus are the other two), always focuses on transformation and what in your life has to die in order for something new to be born.
“Die?” you gasp…well, um, yes…Pluto asks you to let go of what you thought you’d never be able to live without–a relationship, a job, an identity–to make room for a new you…
Yeah, it’s scary…and yes, astrologers live in fear of Pluto transits. However, we astrologers know change is coming whether we’re ready for it or not. Our job is to help our clients navigate this change with the greatest understanding of what it’s truly all about…
Pluto retrogrades (appears to move backward in the sky) once annually and once annually he stations–this time on September 23–and begins his forward movement again. Little by little Pluto–now in the sign of Capricorn–gains ground, but his transits are sloooooooow, and there’s a reason why.
Think about it: incorporating real change into our lives–bringing from the subconscious up into our conscious lives a new identity–can never be done too quickly.
Pluto gives us all the time we need to accomplish this slow movement forward, this gradual increase in consciousness. The problem is, if we are not willing to change, if we cling to the old, dig our heels into the past, try to claw our way backward instead of gracefully going with the flow into the future, Pluto–the god of the underworld–makes us an offer we can’t refuse and drags us with him even if we scream “noooooo!”
Pluto’s direct movement marks a period when we realize our own power as a result of having lost that which we thought we could never live without–and then learning not only can we survive, but thrive as well as we move forward more empowered than before…
From September 23 (the same day the Sun enters Libra) until April 16, 2015, Pluto’s direct motion helps you incorporate into your consciousness any changes that have occurred during his retrograde period.
Deeply unconscious emotions and automatic responses float to the surface to be incorporated into our daily lives. The realization that this is what’s happening for us all can aid you in the expression of your own emotions.
If Pluto is transiting a sensitive point in your individual chart, you will feel the effects of these internal changes even more powerfully than others. A good time to “go deep” and bring to the surface (consciousness) the “gold” hidden in your unconscious, Pluto direct can help you accomplish this goal.
