Aquarius New Moon February 8

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - February 8, 2016 - Astrology

In the dark of this Aquarius New Moon, we are called to plant the seeds of our  revelations. The ones that maybe you’ve not dared to tell people or share with others, the ones that–if given voice, structure, and a platform–might actually be brilliant!

And if they’re not for everyone, so be it.

When a revelation arrives fully blown in our minds, it’s as if a light bulb has snapped on, illuminating instantly what before was completely hidden—or in the dark.

Possibility is born through revelation. And revelation hits when it hits–which is to say, often unexpectedly.

Our job is simply to recognize it when it does hit.

Once I Was Blind But Now I See

Seeds of advancement, seeds of change…seeds of allowing the ideas that arrive “a priori” into the mind to be tested and found possible.

At this Aquarius New Moon we’re going to be asked to test our aha! moments out in real life. Up until that aha! eureka! moment we weren’t 100% sure that our hypothesis or postulate was provable.

When we allow ourselves to think outside the box, to not get bogged down by our fears, our prejudices, our insecurities, think what life would be like!

What if we all had faith in our beliefs to the point where we are unafraid to express our differences?

If we poo-poo, nay say, or doubt it away, how can we ever know if these revelations can stand the test of time when put to the test?

So in the dark of this Aquarius New Moon, plant the seeds of these revelations.

Aquarian energy is about the tribe, the group, and–by extension– the community. It’s also about our friends, and our hopes, dreams, & wishes.

How can we have hopes, dreams, and wishes if they simply lie dormant, never to be struck by the spark of lightning or the flicker of a match? As that’s what’s needed to bring these ideas, hopes, dreams to life–into their full blown glory, into a raging fire.

“High” Mars Energy Vs. “Low” Mars Energy

Mars squaring this Aquarius New Moon (when the Sun and the Moon meet up in the sky and set the stage for the tone of the next two weeks until the Full Moon occurs and she once again begins to wane in preparation for the next New Moon) provides its energy with extra oomph!

Our hearts and minds are now in alignment because the two luminaries are together at this precise moment of the Aquarius New Moon in the sky. This helps us give birth to the impetus we have behind our ideas, projects, philosophies, etc.

So we must push past the frustration in which Mars square this Aquarius New Moon may result, without succumbing to it. Rather let’s use this energy and put the wind behind our sails in order to benefit most from it…

We must try to use the unifying strength of being on the same continuum–both mentally & emotionally, ego & soul, mind & heart–so that we may lift the brightness of our ideas (illuminated under that revelatory flash of lightning!) into something real, manifest, concrete, and capable of lasting.

Using Mars energy in a way that accentuates and defines the “high” side of Mars–as motivation, ambition, assertion–rather than the “low” side of Mars—aggression, uber-sexuality, and violence–can only work in our favor now…

Illumination

So, hold your torches high. If they are for the purpose of lighting your way, and the way of others–and not to harm, hurt, cheat, or in any other way use this martial energy negatively–they may be used to galvanize—to forge in steel, so to speak—these reflationary & revolutionary ideas in order to manifest them.

Write that article, work on that book manuscript, create that software, paint that painting, sing that song, dance that dance, enjoy, and most of all, do it in your own unique way…because individual expression is part of the Aquarian archetype as long as the motive is high-minded and in the best interests of the community or the world or humankind at large..

So, what is our idea and how do we make it manifest?

Remember that Aquarius is not only ruled by the planet Uranus in modern astrology, but traditionally by the planet Saturn, which represents structure within the group.

When we utilize both sides of the archetypal meaning of the sign of Aquarius we have the capability to not only recognize these ideas that arrive whole  into our brains, but we find a way to concretize them by bringing them down to earth and actually testing them within the group.

Warning: It is of course possible for those of a distinct Aquarian nature to go a little too far.

Aquarius is an air sign—hence rational, thoughtful, objective–capable on the negative side of the spectrum of becoming too fixed in its ideas.

So when one who carries an abundance of Aquarius energy believes she has truth with a capital “T” I wholeheartedly recommend that she take a step back, particularly on the eve of this Aquarius New Moon, and redefine for herself the who, what, where, how, and when’s of her conclusions.

Aquarius is also a fixed sign, so expressing your ideas with conviction is all well and good. Just make sure you put your hypothesis to the test and that it indeed is capable of surviving this test not only to benefit YOU but to make life better for us all…

Namaste…

Sun Enters Aquarius January 20

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - January 21, 2016 - Astrology

The name of the game when the Sun enters Aquarius is “individuation.”

Aquarius energy is about being part of the group, yet having the guts to be the individual person you came here to be.

The Aquarius archetype, as ruled by the planet Uranus–known as the great awakener–is a humanitarian sign. Aquarian energy, also ruled by Saturn in traditional astrology, concerns itself with the group–not with the individual—and with the structure of the group.

Who Did You Come Here To Be?

So how hard is it to be your own wo/man rather than one of the sheeple?

Well, for some of us it can be damn hard!

In her book “The Art Of Stealing Fire: Uranus In The Horoscope,” astrologer & Jungian psychologist Liz Greene writes “…Uranus is not concerned with individual development…It may even prove inimical to individual values and individual emotional needs. Very often the special brand of suffering that Uranus can reflect springs from the fact that the person cannot express a sense of individuality.”

Why is that?

“He or she may be dominated or driven by a revelation or world view which is collective,” Green writes. “It may be a revolutionary or transformative perspective on life, but it is collective nonetheless, which is why Uranian ideas usually arrive full blown in the person’s consciousness, without having been distilled from, or tested against, personal experience.”

Which brings us to the point, as the Sun enters Aquarius now until March 19, of how so many with a preponderance of Aquarian energy have so many great ideas…

Brilliant Rational Insights That Seem Crazy

I always picture in my mind’s eye Benjamin Franklin in his lab, tinkering with his test tubes and postulating that he can “capture” electricity. I don’t really know much about his experiments from a scientific point of view, except that we were taught he flew his kite on a stormy night.

When lightning struck the key on the string of the kite–EUREKA!–his hypothesis about how to capture electricity was born!

I wonder if anyone saw him that night and thought he was simply stark-raving mad.

Realizations & revelations made by those who carry a great deal of Aquarius energy usually lend themselves to improving the plight of mankind in some way, be it big or small.

I believe the scientists who figured out how to put the first rocket into orbit around the earth, and then how to put a man on the moon, had to be Aquarian in nature.

I assume that when presented with the problem “how do we get a man into space?” and later “how do we land a man on the moon’s surface?” they had an intuitive sixth sense that a doable answer existed.

So they rolled the problem around in their minds, went home, slept on it for a day, a week, a month, a year–whatever length of time it took—and when ready they reappeared in front of those who’d asked the question.

“Yeah, it can be done,” they said, “and not only that—here’s the plan!” Then they handed everyone present the written outline of such a plan.

The Same, Yet Different

Having said this, however, Aquarius is an air sign, which has to do with rationality–as do the other air signs Libra & Gemini.

Those who carry a great deal of Aquarius energy are capable of taking a step back and looking at a situation logically, rationally, and objectively.

So you can see how Aquarius energy isn’t in it just about being a rebellious smart ass. The thing that’s so fascinating about this energy (to me, at least) is how ideas and concepts arrive in the brain “a priori,” which means through deductive reasoning rather than through observation or experience.

When a plan arrives whole into one’s brain—PLUNK! Just like that!–it takes on a revelatory quality. To be Aquarian is to be able to see it all laid out in one whole picture or insight, rather than slogging toward it piece by piece via observation and correlation.

Aquarius energy is also hugely intuitive. One of the questions we can ask ourselves as the Sun enters Aquarius, this sign of intuitive revelations–of the sort that often arrive into our psyche fully formed–is whether we give credence, &/or listen, to these aha! moments.

When we dismiss these eureka! moments that occur in our brain, we deny ourselves the right to think differently or in an outside the box manner. When we go along to get along, the result is often sameness.

This loops us back to Liz Greene’s logic that the Aquarian nature is comprised of group-only energy unfamiliar with individuation:

“If someone is trapped in such receptivity to the collective, without any individual sense of self to monitor, sift, or shape the revelation, he or she may lose touch with what is nourishing and creative on an inner level, and many important aspects of personal life may be unwittingly crushed.”

The upcoming Leo Full Moon on Saturday, January 23, is going to have something more to tell us about that, so stay tuned…

Mercury Moves Into Aquarius January 1

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - January 1, 2016 - Astrology

As Mercury moves into Aquarius and the mind buzzes with crackling electric excitement,  the result is lightning quick speed of electric conduction that runs through the nerve endings to and from our brain.

Snap, Crackle, Aha!

Aquarius energy, ruled by Uranus–the great awakener and lord of thunderbolts & lightning–can be unexpected & erratic, making revelatory aha! moments plentiful when Mercury transits through this electric, eclectic, outside the box, march to the beat of your own drummer sign.

You may think and speak quickly as your brain makes connections quickly and you process information at lightning speed. You may also derive your ideas from unexpected sources.

Aquarius energy is both revelatory and rebellious. The universe doesn’t like stasis or stagnation, and Uranus is the planet & Aquarius the energy that sees to it that we don’t stay stuck in a rut forever.

If you are person who welcomes change, then Uranus is your guy.

If you are a person who abhors change, then in some sense at least Uranus is, if not your enemy, then certainly not well liked. Often this may be because one who espouses and/or embraces change bucks up against the status quo.

But change things must for it is the law of energy & of the universe.

Where can you make these changes through the introduction of a new perspective or new way or perceiving the world around you?

Where have you been itching to say what you want to say even if it’s different from what everyone else has to say?

The dark side of Mercury in Aquarius is that Aquarian energy—while it likes to think differently from the majority and the rest of the sheeple—can also lead one to believe that she has truth with a capital “T.”

Ergo, one can become an ideologue married to a certain thought process or way of thinking that is so outside the box–or about which one is so adamant–that one alienates oneself in the process of expressing these theories, ideas, thought, teachings, etc.

 Snap, Crackle, Eureka!

Your brain, as Mercury moves into Aquarius, is rife with the possibility of breaking through to a new way of thinking…

Who says it can’t be done? Not someone with a lot of Aquarius energy in their chart, that’s for sure!

But where might one react in knee-jerk fashion simply because one is not interested in following the conventional path? The key here is to go deep about whether you are rebelling for rebellion’s sake, or if you truly feel it…

Right it, speak it, feel it the way you do, regardless of how different that is from the way anyone else writes, speaks or feels.

Justify your viewpoint not with righteousness, but because in order to arrive at that viewpoint you have searched all the highways and byways in an all-inclusive open-minded manner and can objectively see different sides and points of view.

When the discernment used to arrive at your conclusion is one that is well thought out through observation & correlation, or a more scientifically objective manner, you are bound to stand out from the rest in true intellectual Aquarian fashion: AS BRILLIANT!
