Astro News You Can Use!

ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE
from Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s
Sheri Horn Hasan, December 10-16:

Chiron stationed direct in 27-degrees 54-minutes of Pisces this past weekend (December 8/9), beginning his forward motion again toward greater healing.

This retrograde period—which began July 4 at 2-degrees 25-minutes Aries–asked us to revisit going deep about any emotional wounds sustained—in this lifetime or past ones—because of our own porous emotional & psychic energetic boundaries.

In other words, how much of where we feel wounded is due to our inability to block out (& thereby protect ourselves from) the energies of other individuals and/or the collective? You know, that inner part of ourselves threatened or wounded by outside forces when they take insensitive or hurtful actions toward, or speak unkind words about, us…

The question you might ask at this station direct, and before the wounded healer reenters Aries on February 18, 2019, is: Are you still looking to protect your internal emotional security by building an emotional wall around yourself?

In other words, have you allowed weak, easily penetrated emotional boundaries to result in wounds so deep that the only solution seems to be to erect strong external boundaries?

Or has your consciousness grown–during Chiron in Pisces’ retrograde since July 4—to better understand that it’s your spiritually & emotionally sensitive INTERNAL boundaries that need strengthening, not your physical, concrete, ego-oriented external ones?

Without this understanding…

All In All You’re Just Another Brick In The Wall…

As the holidays are upon us, Chiron’s forward motion advises us to go deep now by asking how we may all bridge the gulf between our internal wounds & the role of the outside world in creating &/or re-triggering them:

  • What progress have you made toward healing your own deep wounds by looking inward since July 4?
  • How can you protect yourself emotionally & still build bridges not walls?
  • What prevents you now from strengthening your emotional core in order to take down some of your emotional walls & let others in?

As the energy of the December 7 Sagittarius New Moon continues to wax for the next week & a half, its optimistic tone sets the backdrop for incorporating this kind of healing into the new you! From now until the Sun enters serious Capricorn December 21, & December 22’s Cancer Full Moon, use the adventurous, less fearful, fiery energy of the Sagittarius Sun to guide you toward this integrative Chironic healing…

Meanwhile…

Mercury in Scorpio makes a minor frictional quincunx aspect to retrograde Uranus in Aries on December 11, so watch out for sudden, hurtful, or frustratingly dis-empowering communication, and shoulder on until Mercury enters more lighthearted Sagittarius on December 12. After that, try to say what you mean and mean what you say, and be wary of overly exaggerated communication, be it yours or another’s.

The Pisces Moon makes its waxing first-quarter square to the Sagittarius Sun December 15 which can provoke some tensions as our hearts and minds may feel out of alignment, but Venus in Scorpio’s sextile to Saturn in Capricorn on the 16th provides the opportunity to better ground ourselves in reality.

Later that night, Mars in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn, further empowering us to more easily evolve on our journey toward greater consciousness…

Join me Thursday, December 13, @ 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET, with my guest professional astrologer Linda Furiate who’ll discuss how to best handle sensitivity to others’ emotions in order to avoid depression or other addictive behaviors during this holiday period!

See you then, namaste!

Astro News You Can Use November 29–December 2!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - November 26, 2018 - Blog post

Astro News You Can Use from Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s Sheri Horn Hasan,
November 26—December 2:

When the Sun met Jupiter in Sagittarius late November 25–or early on the 26th, depending on your time zone–an optimistic grand vision was hatched! Later that day, however, Mercury retrograde in Sadge squaring Mars in Pisces warned us that to make our grand plan doable we might have to check our egos at the door.

This aspect also sent the clear message that while all chaos contains the seeds of clarity, it’s still important to put effort into the details because no grand vision is made manifest on a wing and a prayer only!
Meanwhile, the Sadge Sun conjoins exact with Mercury & Jupiter on November 27, encouraging us to keep thinking big, while at the same time heeding Mercury retrograde’s advice to review & revise, rather than charging ahead with something brand new.

Mars’ sextile to Saturn in Capricorn on November 27 also provides some much needed clarity & form, along with the opportunity to plan both more carefully & patiently…

When Venus in Libra opposes Uranus retrograde in Aries, and both continue to square the transiting karmic nodal axis in Capricorn & Cancer on November 30, our relationship apple cart may be upset. Whether we experience a pleasant surprise or a breakup, this is the day to expect the unexpected. And, as always, watch for a sudden event or announcement within the collective to mirror any personal experience.

Mercury retrogrades back into Scorpio December 1, and Venus moves forward into Scorpio on December 2. Keep a close watch as communications & relationships may express our–and others’–shadows, as we all may become more secretive, intense, volatile, & obsessive now.

When the Sadge Sun squares Mars on December 2, we might feel a bit testy, irritable, or argumentative, especially since this is followed by the Libra Moon’s potentially confrontational square to Pluto in Capricorn that day too…

We may find ourselves running over the same ground again now, so ask yourself what purpose this is meant to serve. Does it bring you closer to the light of greater consciousness, expecially vis-a-vis how you communicate within your relationships, at this particular point in time? If so, you’re undoubtedly on the right track!
Join me & guest professional astrologer Nadia Smirnova-Mireau,Thursday, November 29, at 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET, when we discuss all this AND astrology & auras!

Astro New You Can Use October 29!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - October 29, 2018 - Blog post

ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE from Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s Sheri Horn Hasan, October 29:

Communication shifts from Mercury in Scorpio’s dark, secretive intensity to a more fiery outspoken tone when Mercury enters Sagittarius late on October 30 or early the 31st, depending on your time zone. This shift can result in less than diplomatic outbursts because Sadge favors truth over diplomacy! Watch out for this fiery rhetoric as we get closer to the U.S. midterm elections November 6…

Mercury in Sadge can be impatient–he’s known to blurt things out spontaneously without thought for the repercussions—AND he tends to exaggerate, favoring the big picture over the details. It would be an understatement to say that this next week will be filled with a number of “hoof in mouth” statements that may or may not be borne out by the actual factual truth…

Regardless, however, while Mercury’s in Sadge until December 1 when he retrogrades back to Scorpio (he’ll station retrograde in Sadge November 16), and again from December 12 until he enters Capricorn on January 4, it’s the perfect time to take up your pen.

Why?

Because—despite its previously mentioned shortcomings–Mercury in Sagittarius creates excellent raconteurs & writers! Record your revelations about that which you’ve grown in consciousness on paper or otherwise…you may or may not decide to share them, that’s not the relevant part, as writing often helps us clarify issues for ourselves first before we impart anything about such issues to others…

When Venus retrograde in Scorpio opposes Uranus in Taurus once again early on October 31 we may experience some surprises leading up to Halloween. However, the goddess of beauty & love moves back into Libra–the sign of diplomatic partnerships–later that day & until December 1.

This Venus retrograde shift in sign provides the opportunity to remember past relationships & to make peace with/about them from the vantage point of having gained greater consciousness between now and then.

It’s a good time to discover more about our true motives in both past and present relationships. Where may we have compromised for the sake of peace & thus become dis-empowered? How might caring more about our partner than for ourselves have affected our relationships ultimately?

Likewise, where might indecisiveness have led to allowing others to take control during these relationships & make ALL of the decisions? Has that served us well or might we want to review this now and think about changing our perspective moving forward, especially once Venus retrograde ends on November 16.

Between now and December 1, however, while she’s in Libra, the Libra portion of the Venus retrograde journey will focus specifically on how we can work to be our own best e, epartner first to ensure healthier partnerships for our future…

Jupiter in Scorpio trines wounded healer Chiron November 1, & we may receive additional enlightenment about how we might review past wounds through expansion in consciousness about them. For example, perhaps we were more complicit in our own wounding than we previously acknowledged, as per that mentioned above? Just some food for thought now…

Venus retrograde in Libra follows with her own trine to Chiron November 3. Release old wounds through your greater consciousness now about them & find the love in your heart to view yourself with compassion.

Mitch knows his stuff—he predicted the 2008 economic downturn more than a year in advance–& he’ll give us his take on how Uranus retrograde re-entering Aries that day and Nov. 7’s Scorpio New Moon may affect the outcome!

Astro News You Can Use October 22, 2018

ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE from “Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s” Sheri Horn Hasan, October 22:

The Sun sails into Scorpio October 23, joining Mercury & Venus retrograde in this intensely deep sign that’s about transforming that which is unconscious into consciousness.

Late on the 23rd, the Scorpio Sun opposes Uranus in Taurus EXACT, & this energetic pattern’s still in effect when the Moon meets Uranus & opposes the Scorpio Sun/Venus retrograde at the Taurus Full Moon on the 24th.

Relationships may break down or break through now, depending, & shocks & surprises may abound. The Taurus Full Moon configuration also forms a fixed cross to the transiting nodes of karma & we may see this sudden unexpected “breakthrough/breakdown” pattern in the world around us as well.

Uranus/Aquarius represents collective energy and the transiting Aquarius South Node square to its modern ruling planet–while Uranus is in Venus’s sign of Taurus and opposing Venus retrograde & the Sun in Scorpio—tells us we’re dealing now with reconciling collective values with personal ones. As always, let consciousness be your guide & try to recognize the deeper meaning of it all, whether that’s through relationships, jobs, material possessions, or whatever.

When the Sun meets Venus retrograde October 26 & the Taurus Moon teams up with partnership-oriented Juno to oppose Mercury & Jupiter in Scorpio we may succumb to the tendency to exaggerate our woes, so no fair crying wolf if there ain’t no wolf in sight…

The Sun sextiles Saturn on the 27th, & we’re provided the opportunity to review what’s been made conscious (especially since the Taurus Full Moon) & to engage in authentic truthful discussions of why we’re where we are now. Use any learned information—no matter how shocking or painful—to further empower your true self & to strengthen your commitment to further self-enlightenment!

Join me for a fuller discussion of these energies & how to find vocation in your chart when Jackie Slevin, professional astrologer, author, & lecturer joins me on Thursday, October 25, @ 11 a.m. P & 2 p.m. E ! See you then! Namaste…

Sagittarius New Moon November 29

Sagittarius New Moon: Your Higher Truth

Sagittarius energy–the sign ruled by the planet Jupiter, the great benefic—is always about expansion. It corresponds also with adventurous long-distance journeys, higher education, law, and philosophy of life, including religion.

Sagittarius encompasses how one’s philosophy of life manifests as what we come to believe in as the truth. For many people, such truths derive from an indoctrinated religion. For others, they emerge from deep within through an expanded consciousness derived by going out into the world with open-minded curiosity and wonder.

This is not a condemnation of organized religion. Far from it. Most major religions have resulted in the codification of morals and ethics into laws by which we live so that we may coexist peacefully and in community with our brothers and sisters.

So, yes, Sagittarius is an energy about expanding whatever it touches in your chart, but in the end–when you boil it all down–it’s really about one of the most important things we humans can experience, which is the expansion of our own consciousness.

It’s Sagittarius energy that allows us to jettison traditionalistic security-enhancing hardline religious ways of thinking–and to rise above them and onto a more spiritual plane. And such expansion—as many can attest–allows us to have faith without the need for tangible, empirical, concrete, physical proof.

This Sagittarius New Moon—when the Moon meets the Sun in the sky and we have what’s known as a dark of the moon period—provides fertile ground for planting the seed of faith in the world around us. And this may mean beginning to think in more expansive, all-inclusive, and spiritual ways.

Sagittarius New Moon Square Dance

Unfortunately, this Sagittarius New Moon is fraught with obstacles to overcome in terms of making strides toward the kind of faith derived from greater consciousness which, even on a good day, is no easy task!

The trouble begins with the fact that this 7 degree 42 minute Sagittarius New Moon squares Neptune, which conjuncts the South Node in Pisces, and the Virgo North Node. The nodal axis represents our karmic dilemma, meaning the energy we’re tasked with moving away from (in this case the Pisces South Node), and that which the universe encourages us to move toward (Virgo.)

Astrologer Steven Forrest likes to say that any planets squaring the nodal axis show us what may have “vexed”–or blocked–us in prior lifetimes, as well as in our current one. Squares in astrology are always challenges requiring a good bit of inner strength and insight to recognize and overcome.

As discussed in previous writings, I view Neptune on the South Node and in the sign of Pisces as very much about the struggle to move away from seeing people, circumstances, and things the way we want to see them, rather than as they really are.

Under the influence of Neptune–the planet of illusion, delusion, and confusion–we may repress our own greatness and project it out and onto another or others, thus making them larger than life and casting them in the role of saviors or redeemers.

Think of sitting in the first row of a movie theater and looking up at your larger-than-life favorite movie star or celebrity from that perspective, and I think you’ll get what I mean.

The Sun square Neptune sets us up right now to quest after the elusive father figure, to idolize males in our lives who appear to us to be redeemers. The Moon square Neptune can make us prone to invasion by other peoples’ energies and, as a result, to feel depressed, fatigued, enraged, or whatever emotion we may empathically pick up from others and/or the collective right now.

Neptune & The Con That We Call “Love”

The challenge right now is to try to recognize what’s real and what is not.

A tall order when Neptune/Pisces energy is involved, especially if this Sagittarius New Moon degree falls in a significant area of your own personal horoscope.

The trouble with Neptune—often referred to as the planet of illusion, confusion, and delusion—is with our tendency to project. All that glitters is not gold, as they say, and this is particularly true whenever Neptune or Pisces energy is involved.

Often, it’s tough to tell whether another has deceived us into thinking of them as savior-like, or if we ourselves boosted them to such great heights. Let’s call it the “rose-colored glasses” syndrome…

In the end, the question always becomes how much have we allowed others to deceive us with promises of happily-ever-after-love-and commitment, glory, wealth, stability, health, etc., and how much is based upon our own illusory thinking?

Neptune/Pisces energy is always concerned with redemption—accomplished only by returning to source energy. In cruder parlance, it’s the attempt to return to the mother’s womb. Metaphorically, it’s the womb of the great mother–a place where we’re all connected as one, lost in a blissful state of the collective unconscious. In this context, Neptune/Pisces’ connotation with escapism is undeniable.

This kind of energy can leave us vulnerable to escapism, illusory thinking, dreams that have zero basis in reality–and which cause us to project onto the greater screen in our minds the gloriousness of another. Hence, Neptune/Pisces represents both the victim and the savior.

A Martyr In My Bed Tonight

Compounding this conundrum on this Sagittarius New Moon is the fact that it’s joined by the asteroid Juno, which also squares Neptune and the Nodes. The question becomes: is our thinking vis-à-vis partnership clear right now?

Juno, the Roman counterpart to the Greek Hera—the wife of Jupiter/Zeus, the king of the gods—has an honored place among the pantheon of the gods. Mythologically, however, Juno/Hera is regularly deceived by Jupiter/Zeus in the realm of marriage–which in our latter day more parochial view is sanctioned as a supposedly unbreakable bond with our partner.

Now, this isn’t saying that everyone’s partner is going to deceive them at this Sagittarius New Moon. No, no, no! Rather, it’s about asking yourself whether any partner you’ve chosen is of the same belief system as you and whether it matters…and how, why, and where we may project onto them attributes they, in fact, do not possess.

Here are a few questions we might ask ourselves at this Sagittarius New Moon:

  •  Where might a partner appear to be on board with our thinking, but turn out to have quite different views?
  •   How can we transcend our rigid thinking and allow this person to coexist in our lives without having to dump him or her, deceive them, or allow ourselves to be deceived by them?

Alternatively:

  •   How might we be idolizing or idealizing a partner out of all proportion?
  •   Where are we so desperate for a redeemer that we’re willing to accept less than?
  •    How can we fulfill our needs in partnership from within first and without second?

As we move forward and question our partnerships, our answer about whether to leave such partnerships behind may in some cases be a resounding “yes!” while in others the issues won’t prove big enough to be deal breakers.

Going deep now about where we’ve fooled ourselves into thinking that someone else can solve our problems is bigly in play right now. While we may find that we’ve projected our desires out to a political figure, a cleric, our boss, or someone in our more personal sphere, it behooves us all to try to put our finger on it.

Failure to do so can result in many of us chasing the kind of rainbows that both Neptune/Pisces and Jupiter/Sagittarius allow us to project out and onto the world at large, and can set us up for major disappointment in the future…

Why Don’t We Break The Rules Already?

As Jupiter squares Pluto during this New Moon (and begins move into opposition with Uranus over the next few months as well) it’s a good idea to look at improving your relationships, but avoid obsessing over what you think is right.

Remember, to be really convinced that your truths really are true—for you—you might need to reexamine your ideas of right and wrong. Then, if you have the courage of your convictions you can stand on solid, not shaky, ground. If not, you are likely to run into resistance from another or others. Try to avoid power-tripping anyone now as well!

Jupiter begins to move into opposition with Uranus, creating—along with the tight square of Venus to Uranus on this Sagittarius Full Moon–the desire for change by busting loose, a.k.a., freedom. This energy will wax in strength as this opposition becomes exact between December 2016 and February 2017.

Although Venus moves quickly, its square to Uranus at the precise moment of this Sagittarius New Moon signifies that our values are also up for reflection and introspection. Venus always bottom lines for us that which gives us pleasure via the five senses and the physical body, and what truly makes us feel good–which then becomes that which we value.

However, this square to Uranus may makes us feel too hemmed in or unable to move freely, and may foretell the sudden throwing over of anyone or anything now in our attempt to be free. Or someone may throw us over instead.

Let’s face it, how can we be flexible if we’re stuck, complacent, or too resistant to change? Anyone or anything in your life that causes stagnation may have to go…if not in the short term, then Venus square Uranus may trigger events on this Sagittarius New Moon that conspire (as Jupiter moves into opposition to Uranus) to result in your moving on in one way or another, whether by choice or not…

“The other night, you wouldn’t believe
the dream I just had about you and me
I called you up, but we’d both agree
It’s for the best you didn’t listen
It’s for the best we get our distance…”

What Do I Stand For?

Despite this, however, the true danger with this Sagittarius New Moon squaring Neptune and the Nodes becomes settling in to a new kind of rigidity. But this is not a Saturnine rigidity—rather, this is a Jupiter/Sagittarius shadow side rigidity.

Thinking we know everything, that we have all the answers, can be a major pitfall here. And the possibility of projecting this onto a leader because it’s part of the collective unconscious deserves acknowledgment…

Such a mindset stops us at the borders of our current consciousness and allows the ego, which is Saturnine, to proceed unchecked. Drawing our wagons in a circle, so to speak, to barricade our boundaries from infiltration by the “other” is a danger we’d be well-apprised to consider before we mount any kind of ideological attack on any other individual, group, nation, religion, race, gender, etc.

Neptune at the South Node in Pisces runs the risk of letting it all float awaydownstream as we lie helpless to stop it. This kind of anesthetization has been prevalent in the world for a while—one need only examine where one knows one checks out in order to avoid dealing with the harsher realities of real life as proof.

The issue becomes whether we can go deep and actually consciously investigate what might lie under the surface, embedded in our psyches, that prevents us from moving toward Virgo North Node energy–clarity, detail orientation, discernment, and nuance.

In short, do we possess the capability to make out of Neptune and the South Node’s hazy Piscean Haldane soup something concrete, something manifest, something we can live with and by

A belief system that not only arises from the deeper depths of your soul’s true knowledge, but which softens ideological boundaries rather than fortifying them into a rigidly constructed belief system that never allows your thinking to change is something to ponder now…

If we convince ourselves to take that higher road, we’re able to embark on the journey that Jupiter’s Sagittarian energy so often encompasses. Freedom to think as one chooses, even if one is in the minority, the adventuress-ness to soar to new heights of the mind–but in alignment with the true needs of the soul–is what this Sagittarius New Moon cries out for us all to try to do…

The energy of this Sagittarius New Moon brings into mind another time when conflicting ideologies caused war between previously peaceful factions…when I saw that FUN had used a civil war themefor its video, it was like a reminder of where things can head if we do not keep an open mind and open dialogue with those who philosophies of life may be different from ours…

“But I still wake up, I still see your ghost
Oh Lord, I’m still not sure what I stand for, oh
What do I stand for? Oh what do I stand for?
Most nights, I don’t know…

So this is it? I sold my soul for this?
Washed my hands of that for this?
I miss my mom and dad for this?

No. When I see stars, when I see stars, that’s all they are
When I hear songs, they sound like a swan, so come on…”

Watch Nate Ruess/Fun’s Video Some Nights Here

* “The video shows a fictional battle taking place during the American Civil War and the band singing from afar as war breaks out with lead singer Nate appearing as the commander of the Union force. The story also follows two particular soldiers, one from each side of the conflict. From the Confederacy, the song follows a middle-aged farmer clearly in love with his life, land, and animals, while from the Union side the story follows two young lovers torn apart as the young man heads off to the fight. The broken loves, of beauty and of nature, eventually clash in the battle with consequences for both the loser and winner, showing that the personal costs of war will continue far beyond the battleground.” [Wikipedia]

Taurus Full Moon November 14

Taurus Full Moon: We Have Met The Shadow & He Is Us…

This Taurus Full Moon reflects back to us on Earth the light of the Scorpio Sun, providing the opportunity to see not only that which was formerly hidden but also that which is obvious.

The Sun in Scorpio shines brightly this month until it moves forward on November 21 to highlight the sign of Sagittarius. What’s being illuminated now, however, is both Scorpio’s inherent need for transformation (this sign LIVES to die and be reborn!), and its polar opposite energy: Taurus.

Taurus is strong–it’s an energy that plods along but, like the bull, when he puts his shoulder to the wheel, ultimately, and patiently, he can move mountains. He is placid and peace-loving, preferring to sit under a shady tree and watch the world go by. In short, he prefers to make love, not war…

So, Scorpio—in its quest for transformation—must understand the need for patience. Rome, after all, wasn’t built in a day, as they say…

However, patience should not be tantamount to either the kind of obstinacy which abhors change to the point where it digs in its heels and resists at all costs, OR laziness–another less favorable potential Taurus trait.

Transforming Our Values

Taurus is an archetypal energy that’s about values. Some of us may find under this Taurus Full Moon that what we value now pales in comparison with what we thought we valued before.

The most obvious example of this is whether it matters more that you have the latest, snazziest version of your make of car, or whether you’re living under a political system that promotes peace and harmony.

Taurus energy is about values, but Taurus energy can be lazy about both identifying and living its authentic values.

Our ego can trick us into thinking we know what we value, however our unconscious mind inherently intuits what the individual soul truly values. The juxtaposition between these two is what’s being highlighted now by the Taurus Full Moon.

For those ready to make progress and move toward greater consciousness about what their soul truly needs to be happy in this lifetime—and not just what their ego thinks it wants—this is a pivotal moment.

Scorpio is the master of the shadow. What is hidden deeply within the recesses of an individual’s psyche is a lot of crap. But buried below and amongst that crap, in places few and far between, are nuggets of pure gold and other precious metals.

This is the psychological metaphor of the underworld. These nuggets of gold are represented by the earthy, tangible, concrete form of Taurus Moon energy which, when translated, represent our true core values.

The highlighting of Scorpio’s shadow calls us all to dig down deeply now and pull out from under the muck, mire, and rubble, these values which define us and which we hold dear.

It is only these values that are worth fighting for–but it is these, on an individual basis—that cause us to rise as part a unified collective.

Drawing A Line In The Sand

It is hard to keep a discussion of these lunar phases (or astrology in general) out of the realm of American politics right now, so I’m not even going to try.

The polarization between transformation–and the need to incorporate into that transformation what our souls’ truly value–is obvious when we look at the recent U.S. presidential election.

America’s values have been revealed with startling clarity on this Taurus Full Moon.

What’s very clear is that between the October 30 Scorpio New Moon and today’s Full Moon in Taurus, light has been shed upon the more hidden aspects of a population dissatisfied with the status quo.

This light has revealed deep pockets of resentment that went undetected by many for quite some time, and the existing deep divide between some who feel their values are being disrespected vs. others who’ve taken the things they truly value for granted.

There are those who believe our president-elect is going to save them. And there are those who believe he will shepherd us toward our ultimate demise.

Regardless of which side you fall on, one thing is very clear: the line has been drawn.

As the schism between the drawn lines begins to widen, it’s going to becomeless and less possible to hang out on the fringes and simply observe.

What will be the outcome?

I sure as heck don’t know. But of this I’m certain: becoming clear about our individual psyches’ values—the ones that help us determine what we stand for and where we draw our line—is our individual task now. Individual psyches form the collective unconscious, which in turn can give rise to larger than life shadow figures that we then project onto our mental screens as saviors or redeemers…

Therefore, it behooves each of us to begin, or continue, the excavation process because if we remain in the dark about what it is we truly value, our fears get the best of us, become projected, and manifest externally.

Keeping the light on under the Taurus Full Moon is necessary for those of us who want to live in future peace and harmony. Only when we integrate our individual shadows into our individual psyches do we lessen the possibility that the collective unconscious will manifest our worst fears…

Mercury Squares Neptune & The Nodes

Mercury in Sagittarius—the maker of laws, the teller of truth, and/or the liar and exaggerator–is squaring Neptune, which is conjunct the transiting South Node in Pisces, and the North Node in Virgo.

Often, modern astrologers attempt to put a positive “spin” on what might otherwise be deemed “negative” aspects. However, most of us modern-day psychological and evolutionary astrologers see neither positive nor negative. Instead, we view all planetary movements and their ensuing energies felt here on Earth as continuous wake up calls meant to spur us all toward becoming more conscious individuals.

Though I see and read all the time astrologers who scream about how Mercury square Neptune means that “one is a liar,” especially if that person is prominently in the public eye (for whatever reason), that is a narrow way of looking at this energy.

That said, however, it can denote that the truth is stretched. Mercury in Sag alone is an energy that can stretch the truth. It can be anything from an entertaining raconteur to a hardcore liar.

Neptune, the planet of illusion, confusion, and delusion, does provide an atmosphere under which people can be beguiled into believing what they want to believe, and not necessarily what is factually true.

Thrust into today’s political context (meaning the not-so-long-ago morning after the U.S. presidential election), we can view this current astrological energy through whichever lens we choose. And most of us will do just that.

So, the square of transiting Mercury (an energy less concerned with details than with the bigger picture) to Neptune (the great dissolver, and planet of illusion, confusion, and delusion) can denote the communication disconnect prevalent in the current political atmosphere.

Picture Neptune sitting on the South Node with his hands over his hears screaming “I can’t hear you!” and I’m sure you’ll get my point. De Nile is a river in Egypt, as they say where I come from…

Truth Or…

Whether it’s about truth or outright lies–or about the perception that someone is only saying what one wants to hear or believe to be true–only time will tell…a discussion of what is fact and what is not is out of the realm of this particular post.

It is, however, at this Taurus Full Moon, shown to be an energy in play. The conversation about who’s fact is factest or factiest, or right or righter or rightest will doubtless be ongoing in these next few months and years going forward.

So, right now we are seeing where the rubber meets the road in terms of whether or not the promises made–that appear to reflect the values of the populace that voted this president-elect into office–are real or simply a mirage.

If a mirage, the values of those who did not vote him into office will slowlycause them to get up from their peace-filled pastures and trot their little hoofies onto our city’s streets in protest.

Nothing may move some faster than the discovery of outright lies or exaggerations designed to carry within them the ultimate goal of ramming one’s beliefs down another’s throat. Pronouncements about repealing (dissolving) existing laws and regulations and instituting newer, but vague, ones, may also spur many into action…

At the same time, however, Mercury’s square to the Nodes can illustrate others’ difficulty (or refusal) accepting such changes—especially those changes leading to the breakdown of existing structures and laws and the ensuing vacuum—and resulting fear–this is likely to create.

So, what’s being revealed here on this Taurus Full Moon is people’s true values. Whether those values do, in fact, reflect back to them by the person they chose to lead the U.S. through thick and thin, or whether that nominee bedazzled them with exaggerated statements and euphemistic promises, remains to be seen.

The proof is in the pudding—an apt metaphor for Taurus energy, which, if nothing else, likes to have its pudding and eat it to. If there turns out to be no pudding, we’ll have a lot of unhappy people, Taurus’s or otherwise…

Pallas Athena Squares The Full Moon

Pallas Athena, the only female in the pantheon of Greek gods to be accorded the right to cast a vote as a member of the jury at the trial of Orestes—accused of matricide when he murdered his mother to avenge his father’s killing by her—is waxing into a square with this Taurus Full Moon.

Astrologer Demetra George credits Pallas Athena as ruling energies in alignment with social justice and political activism in her book “Asteroid Goddesses.”

This frictional confrontational square by an asteroid representative of looking at the situation with detachment, i.e., less emotion and more rationality, echoes our predicament in this present moment at this Taurus Full Moon.

Does one go with one’s heart or with one’s rational mind? Do we rely on a “just the facts m’am” methodology of deciding what’s right and fair for ourselves, or do we allow our heart to rule? Such is our present dilemma…

Revolution occurs when people are angry enough to take to the streets. For whatever reason, and there are many of them, people are angry right now. This post is a cautionary and explanatory piece designed to allow everyone to think for themselves about where they will draw their individual line in the sand.

The question for the rest of us becomes: Do we have to—do we want to—move our little tushies into the fray and stand up for what we believe in?

Also, Jupiter sextiles Saturn as it moves into a square with Pluto. The question is this: how easy will it be for a new king to take the power of the throne? Will Jupiter, the great benefic, king of the gods, initiator of good luck and good fortune (and the sign currently disposited by Mercury) get out his boxing gloves and begins to spar with the underworld god of transformation? Or will Jupiter find a way around the dark lord–or vice versa??

Mars quincunxes the Virgo North Node and semi-sextiles Neptune and the Pisces South Node, meaning there’s likely to be some flies in the ointment in terms of push back as we move forward collectively…

How Did We Read The Stars So Wrong?

Many of us have been shocked into awareness over this past month. The last Aries Full Moon set the stage for such shock when the Aries Moon conjoined with Uranus (the planet of unexpected change) and Eris, the goddess of discord, and opposed the harmonious Libra Sun.

I wrote the following in my October 16 post:

“What we often don’t recognize is that our need for change originates internally and subconsciously but that we project this need out to others who actually take the actions that cause the desired change…

“Our conscious ego–with likes to deal only with that which it can see, hear, feel, and touch–may seek to protect our psyches at all costs from such an unwanted intrusion by the subconscious…and the greater our suppression of our soul’s need for change, the more shocking the change will be…

“The combination of all these energies at this Aries Full Moon may result in our having to take independent action of some kind, and that action is likely to manifest through voicing our own opinions and/or making clear our individuality, on some level at least.

In other words, sometimes on simply has to take a stand.”

What any good predictive astrologer knows (and I do not count myself among those who predict for a living) is that events are often caused by short term “triggers.”

The stage is set by the slower moving planets, and the faster ones trigger their energies into manifestation, be it in the collective or on a personal level, depending on at which chart you are looking…

The many astrologers who predicted a Clinton win—many of whom may not have separated their left leaning political views and/or their desire for a first female U.S. president out of the equation—clearly did not take into account several last minute unexpected shocks and shifts in direction, in my opinion.

Which isn’t to say that the few astrologers who did predict correctly were not similarly influenced by their own, more right leaning, political views. I haven’t seen any who wrote about this past Aries Full Moon energy tie it (at the time) to the likes of James Comey, head of the F.B.I, who’s sudden announcements eleven days before the election (and two days before the Scorpio New Moon) undoubtedly affected its ultimate outcome…

The Square Dances On…

This Taurus Full Moon occurs against the backdrop of the slower, more evolutionary energies still evolving right now in the sky. It, theoretically, can also be a trigger, since it’s immediate energy is in effect for 48 hours or so past the exact opposition of the Sun and Moon in the sky, though sets longer the tone for the next 14 days of waning lunar energy…

The energies of the Uranus/Pluto square dance, ongoing since 2012, is still in play. These are energies that foretell, on one hand, revolution, and on the other suppression of revolutions.

Pluto is in Capricorn. This translates into an energy that predicts—between late 2008 and 2023–the death and rebirth of “business as usual.” Prior to that demise, however, which has not happened here yet in the U.S. (but may be happening now), anything related to a Saturn/Capricorn theme (business, stock market, upward mobility, financial prosperity, to name just a few) may be under Pluto’s microscope and destined for transformation.

Uranus is in Aries, and has been since 2010, fomenting revolution in many places around the world, starting with the notorious Arab spring uprising in the Middle East and extending to the U.S. today. It will remain in the sign of the god of war until the spring of 2018.

The Saturn/Neptune square—active for most of 2016 and still in effect, as well—echoes the Uranus/Pluto square dance. The latter is the back beat, if you will, or the scenic backdrop, while in the foreground throughout 2016 the Saturn/Neptune square took center stage.

Evident in those attempting to overthrow authoritarian structures—and in so much around us, not the least of which is the flight and drowning of so many refugees from the Syria and other part of the Middle East, and Africa—this energy lingers…

So, where does this leave us?

It leaves us with a cautionary note to check our egos at the door and not let the boundaries of our ego–which are necessary for us to make progress in this lifetime–overshadow or wall out our inner intuitive soul’s knowing…

The soul knows your true values, the ones that outlast republics and administrations, presidents and kings…

In tribute to Leonard Cohen, here’s his song Hallelujah  which somehow seems fitting for the occasion:

Well, your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya…

She tied to you her kitchen chair
And she broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah…

And I’ve seen you flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It’s a cold and broken Hallelujah…

Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya

And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah…

Saturn Stations Direct August 13

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - August 13, 2016 - Astrology

If you’ve been feeling a little unsteady lately–or better yet a little stuck—you may well be able to chalk it up, as Saturn stations direct August 13, to Saturn’s recent retrograde since March 25.

Saturn is about maturity. Saturn is about wisdom. Saturn is about being your own best adult and your own best parent. Saturn is about getting the job done, and done well.

Saturn is NOT about fun, gaiety, light-heartedness, or frivolity!

An archetypal energy also often related to work–be that work literal, metaphorical, external, or internal— Saturn also helps us better define our ego.

And what’s the definition of ego? Well, according to my go-to source, Merriam Webster Dictionary, it’s “one of the three divisions of the psyche in psychoanalytic theory that serves as the organized conscious mediator between the person and reality, especially by functioning both in the perception of and adaptation to reality”

So Saturn functions in our chart as one of the energies that helps us to “mediate” between our inside and outside worlds. And this energy helps us to develop our belief system about life and the world around us.

Saturn is the archetypal energy that propels us toward success in order that we may carry out our “job”—one each of us has been tasked with since birth…

And what is that “job” we all need to do so well?

Well, damn, girl, it’s about growing in consciousness! An activity most decidedly easier said than done!

Giving Up…

What happens during Saturn’s retrograde period?

When Saturn stations retrograde, we are tasked with the chore of breaking down a part of our ego structure and rebuilding it.

“Wherever Saturn is transiting in our horoscope we are molding and shaping new boundaries and creating dimension and form, but periodically this type of development internalizes and incubates, resulting in a feeling of stuck-ness and immobility,” writes Erin Sullivan in her book “Retrograde Planets.”

This period may coincide with feelings of loss, as relationships, jobs, material possessions—or anything to which we have a concrete commitment in Saturnine terms—may fall away.

The purpose of such loss, however, is to create space for something new to come into our lives. Saturn’s seriousness here is steadfast. As mentioned, he’s not about taking the easy road to success. Rather, he’s the harsh taskmaster in us all calling us to do our homework, take out the garbage, and basically take care of business before we can get down to the Leonine business of play!

The universe is benign, I always say, and has no vested interest in making us suffer. It provides us every moment of every day the opportunity to grow in consciousness. It is our CHOICE whether or not to heed those calls.

Personifying the archetype of Saturn (or any other planet for that matter) is merely a literary technique meant to help others imagine or visualize this particular energy associated with this particular archetype.

When Saturn retrogrades—as he does annually for approximately five months (though it will be approximately nine months before he gains enough speed again to reach the degree at which he stationed retrograde)—his mission is always the same: to assist our growth in consciousness.

If You Love Me, Don’t Let Go…

During this period any loss translates into some kind of ending. You may recognize this ending immediately, or it may take some going deep. This will depend on where Saturn is transiting your chart since he stationed retrograde on March 25 (i.e., what house or houses) and whether or not he’s in aspect to any planets or sensitive points in your natal chart.

By the end of the retrograde period, and as Saturn begins to develop momentum in the sky over the next month or so, we may look back and recognize that life goes on. This will begin to dawn on us, even if at times during the retrograde period we felt the world a bleak, desolate, or simply stagnant, place.

What we do know with certainty is that once Saturn begins his forward motion again, we are tasked with the work of filling the void now created by the disappearance or loss of whomever or whatever deserted us during the retrograde period.

Where we once felt like this:

“Mama, come here
Approach, appear…
Daddy, I’m alone
‘Cause this house don’t feel like home…

If you love me, don’t let go
Whoa, if you love me, don’t let go…”

We may now begin to realize that “if you love me, don’t let go” is actually a mantra best used to help us rebuild better, stronger, more lasting internal foundations for relationships, jobs, or other commitments through a stronger sense of commitment to ourselves!

This is crucial and makes it quite understandable why Saturn is not an energy known to f%$k around…why would he when the stakes are so high?

As Erin Sullivan writes, “…the station retrograde does affect the deeper layers of the psyche, wherein the transformation will occur.”

And it’s this transformation into self-sufficient, independent, mature, wise adults on the inside so that we may reflect this energy back to ourselves from those with whom we associate on the outside, that Saturn’s archetypal energies—retrogrades and all—are about!

The Push Forward After Saturn Stations Direct

As Saturn regains speed in the short term, reviewing the deeper meaning of any losses, changes, or broken commitments is the order of the day. We may begin to emerge from our isolation and to carry on…

However, we can carry on with regret and depression (looking back), with anxiety about the future, OR we can use the energy of the ego-identified Sun currently transiting through the sign of Leo to co-create our own futures by committing ourselves to living in the moment.

If you’re tired of being alone, begin to realize that you are your own best friend. If you’re suffering the loss of a love relationship, friendship, job, material possessions, etc., recognize this was stifling your ability to grow.

Saturn’s energies are physical, concrete, and about the empirical world of form. Just because you may not yet see it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It’s always our perceptions that count, and while Saturn is in Sagittarius we may be changing these perceptions…

By the time Saturn reaches 16 degrees Sagittarius—the degree at which it stationed retrograde on March 25, something new will have been born to take the place of whatever may have disappeared during the retrograde period.

Upon Saturn’s station direct “one might feel as if moving in slow motion,” writes Sullivan. “It takes much time for Saturn’s message to be incorporated into the conscious mind, but it is assured that the nine-month process of seeking, gestation, and birth has occurred.

“Something new has been born, but it will need a few months to come consciously manifest,” Sullivan adds. “Very gradually, new ego structures can be created…”

Mars Stations Retrograde April 17

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - April 22, 2016 - Astrology

K, listen up my astro buds! While it’s important to “get” what’s happening energetically when Mars stations retrograde, we must remind ourselves that nothing astrological happens within a vacuum.

A look at the bigger picture is always necessary so that one may fit into an overall heavenly context what is happening with—or because of–one particular planet.

The God Of War Retreats…

Mars stations retrograde—appears to stop in his tracks and move backward—on April 17. He will move from 8 degrees Sagittarius to 23 Scorpio before he stations direct—appears to stop and move forward again–on June 29.

On July 2 Mars re-enters Sagittarius and on August 2 he will find his way back to 8 degrees Sagittarius which is where this whole retrograde cycle began.

Meanwhile, transiting Saturn, which stationed retrograde on March 25 (and will remain so until he stations direct on August 13) will remain in retrograde motion for the entire time that Mars does his backstroking through the heavens…

What do we remember about what happens when Saturn stations retrograde?

That’s right: people/relationships, jobs, material things/stuff that’s no longer instrumental to our future growth (let me say that again, loud and clear: no longer instrumental to your future growth in consciousness!) may disappear from our lives.

While this may make us sad, remorseful, guilty, angry, resentful, apt to play the victim, and/or any of the above, rest assured the universe has your back. Nothing is being taken away that’s supposed to stay with you—for now, at least…

Get It Done Or Let It Go When Mars Stations Retrograde?

Mars stations retrograde approximately every two years and is a time when the “normal” function of the planet Mars changes. Rather than its usual modus operandi of taking action and seeing what comes back as a result, the Mars retrograde period is a time of being reactive rather than proactive.

Remember, Mars in general serves as the energy that allows us to move, act, think, and express freely and unfettered. When we have a repressed or suppressed capability to do so—whether based on circumstances real or imagined—then we are in possession of a less than healthy Mars energy.

So Saturn retrograde is a period when we’re busy trying to understand who or what our soul no longer needs to rely upon in our journey toward greater consciousness. Or, put another way, to discover who or what do we need to stop relying upon because we are capable—ultimately—of providing for ourselves our OWN salvation.

Meanwhile, the Mars retrograde period—which falls within the shadow of Saturn’s retrograde cycle (like a wheel within a wheel)—may herald the cessation or delay of any particular project one is working on or ambition one harbors.

Likewise, one’s will may suddenly change, and passion for people, jobs, and things dissipate. Mars retrograde does not guarantee this, however, but it is a time for introspection and contemplation, according to psychological astrologer Erin Sullivan.

“In a situation where action is involved, such as working on a project with a time-goal in mind, the station of Mars retrograde can literally postpone the venture,” Sullivan writes in her book “Retrograde Planets.”

“It may even terminate it, should it have been completely in appropriate for the long term. Sudden reversals of interest (passion) and drive (ambition) are likely to occur during the retrograde phase. An internal battle ensues between the ego which wants things done and the soul which wants to be.”

Are Your Desires In Alignment With Your Beliefs?

Mars retrogrades in the sign of Sagittarius between April 17 and May 27 (before it continues its backward motion into Scorpio from May 27 to June 29.) During this period, we are tasked with going deep about whether or not our beliefs are in sync with our words and our actions.

“Retrogrades cause withdrawal from the status quo in order to redefine our own personal, individual natural law,” according to Kim Marie Weimer of the Evolutionary Astrology Network in her recent lecture on Mars Retrograde.

During this Mars retrograde “we’ll be asked to let go of any desires that are no longer in alignment with our belief systems…especially as we are evolving these belief systems,” Weimer explains.

“Mars retrograde in Sagittarius can’t expand—it’s stuck on the fence line looking over at the other side, stamping its feet because it can’t go forward. It’s asking us to review and evolve all of our beliefs before we can be successful in taking action.”

Weimer recommends looking to Sagittarius’s polarity point of Gemini to discover the dual nature of belief systems and to illustrate how we must remain open to other ways of thinking, doing, and being–rather than fixating on our own truth as the ONLY truth.

“That Gemini polarity will really tell us where we need to communicate and listen—to consider others’ ideas and beliefs,” she advises. “Mars retrograde in Sagittarius is asking you to slow down and really consider someone else’s perspective and how it reflects on you, and helps you to open up and expand your understandings and your path.”

This is so that “Mars has you walking your talk and standing in your authenticity the best you can–which, in turn, can help us achieve our desires better, and help us move through life easier…we need to ask ourselves: What’s important to me? What is my desire? How do I choose to act? What are my best directions to fulfil my desires?” all the while mindful that there are many ways to take action on any subject.

Mars & Saturn Retro=Frustration…Or Not?

Remember that—with the combination of both Saturn and Mars retrograde at the same time—you may feel like you’re banging your head against the wall, your words are falling on deaf ears, or you’re swimming upstream with the rest of the salmon in a dog-eat-dog (er–fish-eat-fish?) race for survival.

If you experience friction, arguments, setbacks, losses, or seem to take two steps forward and three steps back in your relationships, profession, or vis-à-vis your finances, it’s time to sacrifice getting it done to letting it go…

Saturn’s helping you to wave bye-bye to anyone or anything that will no longer benefit you as you move forward in this lifetime. Mars is assisting you to more clearly define what you believe and how you walk your talk, as Kim Mare says.

When Mars retrogrades back into Scorpio, the story will change, slightly…

Till then, hang in there and here’s some inspiration from James Bey to Let It Go:

“So come on let it go
Just let it be
Why don’t you be you
And I’ll be me

Everything that’s broke
Leave it to the breeze
Why don’t you be you
And I’ll be me

From throwing clothes across the floor
To teeth and claws and slamming doors at you
If this is all we’re living for
Why are we doing it, doing it, doing it anymore?

I used to recognize myself
It’s funny how reflections change
When we’re becoming something else
I think it’s time to walk away

So come on let it go
Just let it be
Why don’t you be you
And I’ll be me

Everything that’s broke
Leave it to the breeze
Let the ashes fall
Forget about me…”

Venus Enters Sagittarius December 30

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - December 30, 2015 - Astrology
When Venus enters Sagittarius on December 30, the “lesser benefic” travels through the sign ruled by the “greater benefic.”

What does this mean?

Well, ultimately Venus, the goddess of love & beauty, harmony & peace (known in traditional astrology as the “lesser benefic”) is about values.

And Sag? Well, Sagittarius–ruled by “greater benefic” Jupiter–is about expansion.

While Venus has to do with relationships to people & things that we value, Sagittarius is an all-inclusive consciousness expansion-oriented energy.

While expansion of knowledge through the world around us is positive, it pays to remember that expansion is not always a good thing (as anyone like me who’s still partaking of the holiday festival’s sweet goodies can attest!)

So what do you get when you put these two archetypes together?
Expansion Of That Which You Value–How Much Is Too Much?

Scenario #1: Too much of a good thing! Or, as I like to say, a time when it benefits us each to consider “how much is too much?” Do we need all those relationships and/or all that stuff?

Or might we be better off discerning (especially while the Moon is in Virgo these next two days!) exactly what is of real value to us and what is simply, well, you know…extra stuff?

Scenario #2: Love of expansion through travel—both literal and of the mind—into territory that leaves us with a new perspective, wiser, more experienced, & with a greater understanding of the world around us. Love of all-inclusive experiences, rather than those that limit us.

If you find yourself overspending, overeating, or simply overdoing things right now, you may chalk it up to the fact that it isn’t even New Year’s Eve yet & so you’re still entitled to enjoy yourself & party (and imbibe) with the rest of ‘em!

Come January however, when the dust settles, you’ll want to rein in some of that “party forever!” fervor but keep the positive attitude…and replace it with your love of all things Sagittarian: open-minded curiosity about life and other cultures, & travel–all in the spirit of expanding your world.

Venus’s Ride Through Sagittarius

On January 5, the day Mercury stations retrograde (more on that anon), Venus will square Neptune in the sky. This can be a time of high creativity when you might pour all of your romantic longings into writing the most poetic of sonnets, painting the dreamiest of pictures, singing sweetly, creating pleasing instrumental music, or dancing, photographing, etc. In short, engaging in any artistic/creative endeavor.

When the goddess of beauty & love bumps into Saturn on January 8 & 9, it may be time to come back down into the world of hard cold reality. This is not bad, however, depending on how far afield your fantasies strayed when Venus squared Neptune!

If you created some beauty in the world around you, the Venus/Saturn meet up can ground & manifest that beauty in concrete form.

However, if you “fell in love” with that new sofa (or person!), then got it home & realized it didn’t match the rest of your décor, you may be in for some disillusionment or a mini-fall from Cloud 9. (Caution! With Mercury retrograde by this point, you may not have read the small print saying you cannot return it!)

This is not a negative occurrence as long as it teaches you something. Sagittarius energy is always about teaching us so that we may expand our consciousness. While Venus transits through Sag, we’re taught about how our philosophy of life translates into that which we value.

On January 12 Venus trines the great awakener Uranus, and we skate into a little adventure in order to liven up a potentially dreary January winter’s day.

Engage in something new, something a bit more exciting than the regular dull & normal routine—but understand it’s a “just for the moment” energy that will not last. Nevertheless, enjoy doing something spontaneous and/or new!

Please Sir, Can I Have Some More?

Finally, Venus squares Jupiter (anyone see the mixture of Venus/Sag archetypes again here??) on January 18, putting to the test once again the question of “how much is too much?”

Over-indulging is again a potential energy prevalent in this square—as is general laziness—but no harm done if you are aware of the others around you, at least most of the time, lol…

Venus rules two signs: The sign of Taurus, the key words for which are serenity & pleasure, because Taurus rules the body & the five senses. That which pleases us we give value.

Libra rules relationships and social niceties. The key words for Libra are harmony, balance, & equality. A Libra concerns herself with the environment around her and the people in it, hoping for pleasing communication & relations.

A Libra knows exactly where the spoons go in the place setting and that the knife must be placed inward in order to avoid unnecessary injury (except when Venus is in Scorpio, that is! Bwahahahaha! Just kidding…)

Wherever You Go, There You Are…

The shadow side of Venus is resistance to change. The shadow side of Sagittarius is arrogance. Thinking not only that one knows it all, but that one may lord her knowledge over others is not the way to go…

When Venus enters Sagittarius, enjoy the ride. But don’t forget to remind yourself of your inner value, & that you don’t need to have that value reflected back to you in all that own, control, manipulate, or accrue.

Instead, when Venus enters Sagittarius, it’s far better to understand that your sense of self-worth is not simply within you, but around  you as the external manifestation (be it through relationships, jobs, material objects, etc.) of your inner sense of self-value. Only then can you moderate the expansion of the world around you to reflect back to yourself your true inner worth…

Understanding this is the key gift you may look forward to when the greater & lesser benefics come together as Venus enters Sagittarius…

Namaste…
P.S.Here’s a little reminder that we all feel like orphans at times…but that when love doesn’t originate from within, we all become imprisoned by our external quest for it:

Sagittarius New Moon December 11

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - December 12, 2015 - Astrology

The Sagittarius New Moon on December 11 is ruled by the planet Jupiter, known in traditional astrology as the great benefic, or one who brings blessings and good fortune with him where ever he goes.

Jupiter to the Romans, Zeus to the Greeks, is the king of the gods. There is none mightier. He ruled over Mt. Olympus and the other gods and goddesses there–though the god Pluto/Hades had domain over the underworld, & Neptune/Poseidon ruled the seas.

Conscious Growth & Expansion of Faith

The planet Jupiter possesses a connotation around royalty, while Sagittarius energy represents the adventurer, the seeker, the traveler, the philosopher, and one who’s always up for the ride–be it literal travel (as in where’s the party? Let’s go!) or travel of the mind. The latter often manifests through concerns about politics, law, international relations, philosophy, & religion.

The Jupiter/Sag association includes religion not because this energy represents any one particular set of religious beliefs or tenets, but rather because religion has helped explain the world around us from the time of the ancients. In turn, this helped them–and now many of us–to develop philosphies that promote our sense of faith in the world.

In the end, the all-inclusive energy of Jupiter & Sagittarius is synonymous with the concept of expansion. Jupiter brings this expansion to us anywhere he travels…in this regard he has a great connection to faith.

Where Jupiter’s influence appears in your chart shows where you possess the greatest capability to expand your horizons through knowledge gleaned via opening yourself up to outside influences and new ideas.

Depending on where Jupiter is in your natal chart, what he aspects, what house he rules, & where he’s transiting currently in the sky vis-à-vis your natal birth chart, his true mission is to help you–by sending you (through your curiousity & desire to explore) out into the wider world in order to learn more about it & thus expand your consciousness…

Til I Reach My Highest Ground…

Expansion in consciousness may sound like a lofty term, especially to those who think they’ve got it all figured out. But Jupiter asks us to investigate whether what we believe with our mind is really what is true for our soul. This Sagittarius New Moon asks us what is it that we believe & in which we have true faith? And are our beliefs a product of having listened to our soul’s true higher self, our inner voice, or is it based on what other people have told us, taught us, or forced us to believe in the past?

The difference between the two cannot be underestimated.

In other words, does what you believe truly mirror what’s in your soul? Or do you need to get in greater touch with your soul’s true nature & higher purpose through expansion of your thoughts & beliefs via letting in new information that introduces new perspectives?

Part of Jupiter’s mission is also to impart to us the knowledge that we are a member of the greater whole, the collective, as well as an individual within this collective.

When our philosophies of life are taken from indoctrinated teachings, we can develop certain belief systems. However, without discerning whether these beliefs systems are part of our soul’s true nature or simply that of those around us–we can fall into the trap of having our growth in consciousness stifled.

So when Jupiter is not being expansive, he decides on a particular philosophy or ideology in which he believes and then he stops. This lack of growth, or rigidity, or structure around one’s belief system of the kind that does not allow in new information or the expansion of one’s own horizons is anathema to Jupiter’s true purpose in our lives.

This energy, particularly relevant in today’s world (see Saturn In Sagittarius Square Neptune In Pisces /) may hinder rather than help us..

Plant Your Seed & Grow Your Soul’s Purpose

This Sagittarius New Moon on Dec 11 calls us to plant the seed of expansion through allowing our level of consciousness to grow by opening up to outside information, and to others’ viewpoints & perspectives.

This widening out of our narrow belief system–or one we deem to represent absolute truth–moves us in a direction consistent with Jupiter/Sagittarius energy: The expansion of knowledge through higher learning which in turn helps us form our philosophies about life.

However, it’s all about not being rigidly married to these philosophies, but rather about allowing ourselves to grow in consciousness through continual learning of new information so that we may get in better touch with our soul’s true needs.

Such expansion in consciousness then feeds the soul’s true purpose in a way that gives it individual meaning. Jupiter energy helps bring about this expansion of knowledge which then becomes incorporated into the psyche as wisdom…

The connection between opening up oneself to new ideas & new philosophies of life–be they religious or otherwise–is a step toward getting in touch with one’s own psyche & higher self.

Then we can bypass the more rigid philosophies, morals, mores, religious codes, etc., of those outside of ourselves and truly begin to feed our own soul internally. And as we do so, we grow in consciousness which, in turn, allows us to become wiser…

Does this mean you can’t place your faith in others? Absolutely not! But when another’s belief system opposes your own–when it hampers or stunts your ability to grow or to hear your own inner voice & higher self–then it does not help you expand your consciousness & grow your own faith in yourself…

When we are able to get in touch with our higher self and hear our own original authentic voice, we can then begin to develop faith in ourselves…

Namaste…

Stevie Wonder’s Oldie But Goodie HIGHER GROUND

People keep on learnin’
Soldiers keep on warrin’
World keep on turnin’
‘Cause it won’t be too long

Powers keep on lyin’
While your people keep on dyin’
World keep on turnin’
‘Cause it won’t be too long

I’m so glad that he let me try it again
‘Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I’m so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna
keep on tryin’
Till I reach my highest ground

Lovers keep on lovin’
Believers keep on believin’
Sleepers just stop sleepin’
‘Cause it won’t be too long…
