On June 4, the Moon met up with the Sun at 14 degrees Gemini to form a Gemini New Moon. Sandwiched between these two luminaries was Venus–the goddess of peace, beauty, and all that you deem valuable–in Gemini, and all three opposed Saturn in Sagittarius.
Gemini New Moon Mutable Cross: Mutability City!
Wait, that’s not all! At the same moment the Gemini New Moon and Venus formed an opposition to Saturn, they also squared Jupiter and the North Node–both in Virgo–and Neptune and the South Node—both in Pisces–to form a mutable cross.
Mutable signs tend to represent an energy that’s easily distracted and, in some cases, can turn on a dime. On one hand, this archetypal energy may be easily confused, but on the other, it’s flexible.
Cardinal energy initiates, fixed energy sticks with something until it gets the job done, while mutable energy wraps everything up and gets it ready for the next phase.
Picture being at the end of a production line where the product comes off the conveyor belt. You grab it, stuff it in a box, cover it with a lid, slap on a bow and a label, and hand it off to the UPS guy waiting to throw it onto his truck and make his delivery.
Gemini New Moon–Get Ready & Get Real!
So, whoa–there’s a lot of mutability in the air right now…what to make of so much mutability goin’ on?
This Gemini New Moon and Venus opposing Saturn asks: Is there anything it’s time to leave behind now as you make your way toward your true karmic destiny and greater consciousness?
New Moons are always about planting a seed, and they set the tone now until the next Full Moon in Sagittarius on June 20. This Gemini New Moon and Venus opposite Saturn invite you to allow whatever needs to leave to do so.
And their square to Jupiter requests that you investigate a little deeper whether what you thought you wanted is what your soul—your higher self–truly needs. Perhaps you’ve been chasing a few rainbows, thinking of pie-in-the-sky ideas, or daydreaming a bit too long when there’s actual work to be done?
This Gemini New Moon’s square to Neptune pretty much echoes the same theme: where have you been looking at the world, others, and/or your life through rose colored glasses? Where do you need to come down to earth and deal with concrete reality?
Please don’t get me wrong—dreams are important! Without our capability to envision potential reality through fantasy and our imaginations, we wouldn’t be able to create that which is manifest, concrete, physical, and REAL.
However, if we’ve been hanging on too long to ideas or beliefs (Saturn in Sagittarius) that have either outlived their purpose or usefulness, or proven impossible to manifest, then perhaps now is the time to let them go.
If your dreams, longings, or desires for success (in whatever realm of life is important to you) have proven impossible, this Gemini New Moon and Venus opposite Saturn say it’s time to look at life in the cold hard light of reality and to get real…
Wake Up You Need To Make Money!
If you’re taking a fall from Cloud 9 right now, or seeing the ground begin to zoom closer to your body as if someone’s turned on the fast motion mechanism of your camera’s lens, fear not.
Often we don’t wake up until we land with a thump on the ground. Ever fall out of bed while you were dreaming? Stop short suddenly? Have the rug pulled out from under you?
I am not referring here to the sudden quality of Uranian/Aquarian energy. Rather, I’m alluding to that fall from grace that can occur when expectations run too high, we miss, misinterpret, or misunderstood details, nuances, and finer points, and disappointment ensues.
That’s the potential downside of so much mutable energy.
Well, the upside lies in the positive use of Gemini energy as this Gemini New Moon provides us all with the opportunity to conceive, communicate, discuss, and debate new ideas. Ideas that just might, after all, develop into plans with the kind of real potential to manifest concretely and successfully.
Always, we must keep the big picture in mind and not get caught up and confused by too many details, too many pieces of information that don’t seem to fit together properly. Only when we view these individual bits and pieces as part of a whole, and then figure what kind of sense that whole actually makes, can we draw the best and highest use out of them.
So, putting into place the patchwork of what may seem to be random information is what’s called for, as we work toward planting that mutable seed that may one day manifest as a bigger, higher idea—one with a purpose and a meaning…
Check Out Stressed Out by Twenty One Pilots!
I love this song and video because it so aptly illustrates Gemini energy! First, the local transportation in the near neighborhood, the friend/neighbor and their Geminian handshake (Gemini represents the hands!), the memory of a smell and the mention of his brother, the use of imagination, the introduction of other siblings and parents, and finally, the wake up call to the eternal child, puer aeterneus (Peter Pan): wake up you need to make money! Never mind the magically appearing microphone and the fact that too much air and too much thinking (Gemini anyone?) result in the kind of overactive mind that leaves one stressed out!
