Astro News You Can Use December 3-9, 2018

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - December 3, 2018 - Blog post

ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE
from Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s
Sheri Horn Hasan, December 3-9:

Some soul-soothing words or other healing communications are possible when Mercury retrograde in Scorpio exact trines wounded healer Chiron–retrograde in Pisces–late December 3 or early on the 4th, depending on your time zone.

When the Sagittarius Sun squares Neptune in Pisces on December 5, we may put some effort into promoting romance & creativity or, alternatively, we may find we dream the day away. No harm done—especially since our imaginings may someday come to fruition–but watch out that your fantasies don’t obscure hard-core reality.

Mercury stations direct on December 6, ending the messenger god’s three-week backtrack through the heavens, meaning communication will once again begin to flow. This may happen slowly, so be patient; however, we may now begin to shift back to implementing our inspirations, rather than simply reviewing & revising them—at least until the next Mercury retrograde period begins on March 5, 2019.

The Sagittarius New Moon continues this forward positive motion when the Sun & Moon unite later that night (or early December 7) to provide us the opportunity to plant seeds that may ripen from mere high hopes into manifested reality. Look for this planting to come to fruition by the next Sagittarius Full Moon at July 17, 2019…

If you’ve used this current Mercury retrograde cycle to make sure there’s a solid plan behind your grand visions, then there’s no reason to assume your dreams won’t ultimately come true!

One caution, however–when Mars exact conjoins Neptune in Pisces a few hours after the Sadge New Moon—beware over-optimism or idealism, self-deceit, and/or escapist tendencies. As always, remember this advice: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn’t true. Use this time instead to creatively visualize your end-goal so that you can ultimately make it happen!

Healing continues as Chiron stations direct in Pisces late on December 8 or early on the 9th, depending on your location. The wounded healer’s on a mission to finish up its past eight-year mission of helping us develop stronger internal emotional & spiritual boundaries so that we have the courage now to express ourselves honestly—physically, mentally, emotionally, AND spiritually–going forward…

https://karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking/ Join me on Thursday, December 6, @ 11 a.m. P & 2 p.m. E, with guest professional astrologer Michael Bartlett as we discuss the importance of transiting Jupiter in Sagittarius for the next the next year, its natal placement in your chart, and more!

See you then, namaste!

Astro News You Can Use November 29–December 2!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - November 26, 2018 - Blog post

Astro News You Can Use from Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s Sheri Horn Hasan,
November 26—December 2:

When the Sun met Jupiter in Sagittarius late November 25–or early on the 26th, depending on your time zone–an optimistic grand vision was hatched! Later that day, however, Mercury retrograde in Sadge squaring Mars in Pisces warned us that to make our grand plan doable we might have to check our egos at the door.

This aspect also sent the clear message that while all chaos contains the seeds of clarity, it’s still important to put effort into the details because no grand vision is made manifest on a wing and a prayer only!
Meanwhile, the Sadge Sun conjoins exact with Mercury & Jupiter on November 27, encouraging us to keep thinking big, while at the same time heeding Mercury retrograde’s advice to review & revise, rather than charging ahead with something brand new.

Mars’ sextile to Saturn in Capricorn on November 27 also provides some much needed clarity & form, along with the opportunity to plan both more carefully & patiently…

When Venus in Libra opposes Uranus retrograde in Aries, and both continue to square the transiting karmic nodal axis in Capricorn & Cancer on November 30, our relationship apple cart may be upset. Whether we experience a pleasant surprise or a breakup, this is the day to expect the unexpected. And, as always, watch for a sudden event or announcement within the collective to mirror any personal experience.

Mercury retrogrades back into Scorpio December 1, and Venus moves forward into Scorpio on December 2. Keep a close watch as communications & relationships may express our–and others’–shadows, as we all may become more secretive, intense, volatile, & obsessive now.

When the Sadge Sun squares Mars on December 2, we might feel a bit testy, irritable, or argumentative, especially since this is followed by the Libra Moon’s potentially confrontational square to Pluto in Capricorn that day too…

We may find ourselves running over the same ground again now, so ask yourself what purpose this is meant to serve. Does it bring you closer to the light of greater consciousness, expecially vis-a-vis how you communicate within your relationships, at this particular point in time? If so, you’re undoubtedly on the right track!
Join me & guest professional astrologer Nadia Smirnova-Mireau,Thursday, November 29, at 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET, when we discuss all this AND astrology & auras!

ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - November 12, 2018 - Blog post

ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE from “Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s” Sheri Horn Hasan, November 12:

Be on the look-out for quick revelations or fast opportunities leading up to November 14’s sextile of Mars in Aquarius to Uranus in Aries. This fiery combination may cause things to happen quickly, so be aware if & when an opportunity arises so you can grab it pronto!

The warrior god Mars ends his 6-month extended journey through Aquarius (due to this summer’s retrograde motion) later on the 14th when he swims into spiritual, charitable, empathic, & artistic Pisces–where he’ll remain through December 31.

On November 16, Venus’s seemingly endless retrograde (though only since October 5!) ends when she stations direct at 25 degrees Libra, & stalled or new relationships may begin to move forward.

What’s shifted for you between Mars’ retrograde from June 26 to August 27, Venus’ seemingly backward motion from October 5 through November 16?

It’s time now to sum up what you’ve learned about the balance of power within your relationships, especially since Venus transits through Scorpio again from December 2 through January 6 of next year…

The messenger god Mercury about faces in Sagittarius for his final retrograde of the year starting November 16. That’s three weeks to concentrate on reviewing, reanalyzing, reworking, & revising old plans, but not to start anything new.

Remember, your inspirations fuel your future, so review–& perhaps discard what no longer works–so you can open up to, and recognize, new perspectives over these next several weeks! Mercury will retrograde through expansive & consciousness-raising Sagittarius until December 1, when he appears to swim back into Scorpio & stations direct there on December 6.

Meanwhile, beware miscommunication & delays, & try not to sign contracts or make big-ticket purchases, as chances are high you’ll miss the fine print details & there will end up being some catch.

That’s because our psyches work overtime during Mercury retrograde periods & are busy bringing forth wisdom from our unconscious and embedding it into our more rational, empirical, ego-oriented consciousness.
For a look ahead at what’s in store from next year’s eclipses, join me & guest professional astrologer Ronnie Gale Dreyer on Thursday November 15 at 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET! See you then, namaste!

Scorpio New Moon Astro News You Can Use!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - November 5, 2018 - Blog post

SCORPIO NEW MOON NOVEMBER 7

I’M FIGHTING MY SHADOW…

It’s time to plant seeds for your evolutionary journey on a more conscious level when the Moon meets the Sun at 15-degrees 11-minutes of Scorpio on November 7 at 8:02 a.m. PT & 11:02 a.m. ET.

Both luminaries wax toward a sextile to Pluto, Scorpio’s ruler, at this time, denoting that we all have opportunities to further consciously empower ourselves, regardless of our current situation.

And how to we do that?

By facing our shadows, of course!

This is always easier said than done, but this sextile undoubtedly presents less stressful opportunities for us to peek under that rock and courageously face the Scorpionic darkness that lies beneath.

It’s clear in retrospect that the October 24 Taurus Full Moon shone a light on that darkness, too, as we’ve all witnessed through events that occurred within the collective at and following that full Moon.

So, where has that light revealed something hidden in your life? And do you have the guts to both acknowledge, face, & release your fears now?

By doing so, you diminish the power of fear that may have a hold on you—and I mean fear of anything! We all have an unconscious dark side that we keep locked in our subconscious, frightened that if we let it out people will run from us in horror, OR that it will overtake us and we’ll succumb to our dark side permanently.

Whatever we repress because we cannot bear to look at it in the light of day gets projected out and comes back at us in the form of another or others through their behaviors.
Therefore, we manifest our greatest fears most tellingly through our relationships, be they with lovers, family, friends, colleagues, authority figures, etc.

This Scorpio New Moon asks us to plant seeds of courage and hope, so that we may become empowered enough to shine a light onto the seamy side of our psyche and in this way deprive it of its power over us.

It’s like imagining evil behind the dark, but when you turn on the light you see harmless household objects. Like seeing a goblin, monster, or devil, when it’s really the shadow cast on your wall by the tree outside your window, created (you realize when you look more closely) by that hydrangea bush you planted last spring!

Sinister images become benign when exposed to the light, and the ensuing relief can be both palpable and substantial. In this way, we expose our shadows to the world of living and light instead of banishing them to dark places where they’re hidden from the light of consciousness forever…

What we refuse to acknowledge consciously can haunt us through our shadows for all of eternity. However, a willingness to at least begin to understand that often we manifest our own worst fears because we reject them instead of embracing them into our ego-oriented reality becomes paramount now.

I’M STILL HERE…

It’d be best if some important astrological occurrences not go unnoticed leading up to this Scorpio New Moon. The first is the fact that Uranus retrogrades back into Aries on November 6, which happens to be the day of the U.S. midterm elections. I note frequently on my radio show that one doesn’t have to be “political” or “news oriented” to understand that our inner world reflects outer world events & vice versa…

This concept is summed up nicely by the quote “As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul…” which comes from Hermes Trismegistus, purportedly the author of the Hermetic Corpus, a series of sacred texts that are the basis of Hermeticism.

It means these two worlds are interconnected always, and not as separate as our empirically-driven, reality-based, conscious egos OR our carefully developed spiritual natures (which may often eschew the concrete world completely) often lead us to believe.

This movement of Uranus back into fiery Mars-ruled Aries denotes sudden events, accidents, explosions, fires, shootings, earthquakes, volcanos, and the like. Therefore, anything quick &/or unexpected may happen, and we already know tensions are high, both and around the world…

As we lead into the Scorpio New Moon, it’s time to ask ourselves where we’ve resisted screwing up the courage to face our shadows—both personal AND collective–AND whether our delay in doing so will continue to bring sudden, shocking change…

Retracing its steps through the latter degrees of Aries—from now until March 6, 2019—leads Uranus temporarily back into the energy of the past seven years or so. Initiating events from 2010 & 2011 included the Arab Spring uprising, the earthquake & tsunami-induced Fukashima nuclear reactor meltdown in Japan, and continued through terrorist events & natural disasters around the world.

Above all, though, Uranus in Aries was/is about having a voice and not being afraid to express yourself. Further, the ability to speak out continues to be the theme over the next few months, since Uranus still squares the transiting karmic nodes–which regress back to Capricorn/Cancer on November 15–into the new year.

Continue to watch for what happens in the collective to illustrate on a grand scale what’s going on internally. Releasing the waning Taurus Full Moon’s fear of our shadow—both personal & collective–while embracing the coming Scorpio New Moon’s ability to face our dark sides & transform it into light is our task now…

Life is at times literal, and unexpected explosions—literal &/or metaphorical–may more obviously be meant to remind us that change is necessary for our evolutionary process as we journey through this lifetime. It may take that flash of light to spark illumination that leads to banishing the dark.

When the dust settles and things calm down, we must all remember we’re engaged in the process of living our lives to their highest potential in this lifetime. And that entails growing in consciousness about our own sense of inner empowerment.

The goal? To be able to can pat ourselves on the back and proudly say “I’m still here…”

IT’S ALWAYS DARKEST BEFORE THE DAWN…

The second astrological issue to note just prior to the November 7 Scorpio New Moon is that the lunar phase is balsamic, meaning we are in what’s called “the dark of the Moon.”

When you look up at the sky during this balsamic lunar phase, you cannot see the Moon’s light and so the sky appears dark. Traditionally, this represents a time when we give final release to the old so that upon the new Moon—when the Moon & Sun come together at the exact same degree of a particular zodiacal sign—we may plant something new.

So, November 6, the day before the exact Scorpio New Moon, becomes a time when we are to let go so that we do not drag unwanted or unnecessary old baggage with us into the new seed-planting time. If we don’t, whatever we drag with us becomes a kind of dead weight.

How exactly this will be reflected through outer events remains to be seen. However, understanding what’s going on internally eventually can shift outer events so that they increasingly ultimately harmonize with our internal energies…least that’s the name of the consciousness game, lol…

It pays now for us all to meditate on what needs to go so that we may open up space in our consciousness for that which we want to see grow to fullness over the next six month, or the Scorpio Full Moon on May 18, 2019.

WATCH THE TEARS AS THEY FALL DOWN

Before Uranus regresses into Aries at 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET on November 6, the Scorpio Sun forms an exact water trine to Neptune in Pisces at 10:40 p.m. PT November 5 & 1:40 a.m. ET November 6.

The import of this may manifest negatively or positively, as with any aspect in the heavens. Positively, this is an energy of great empathy, of understanding that “there but for the grace of God, go I.”

Negatively, a water trine may be just as sensitive, but direct its energy inward rather than outward. For example, this aspect might make some of us feel more “woe is me” or “why am I always the one getting screwed?” rather than able to feel the plight of others & view it through a more charitable lens.

The Scorpio Moon makes its own exact trine to Neptune early morning November 7, just hours before the Scorpio New Moon occurs. Likewise, this aspect can be even more prone to our feeling either empathy toward others or sensitive to self, depending on how we roll…

Now, don’t get me wrong, many who feel like they’ve been victimized actually may simply be absorbing the energies of others—and the collective in general—and thus be internalizing the feelings of others.

Either way, however, & especially if that’s the case, this can lead to feelings of helplessness or cause one to retreat back to the warm safety of hiding under their bed covers. It pays to remember that NOW is the time to release any unwanted emotional overwhelm, and that at the coming Scorpio New Moon you will plant seeds of greater self-empowerment!

As Mercury waxes into a square dance with Neptune leading up to the Scorpio New Moon (the two won’t actually square exact because Mercury will begin slowing down to station retrograde on November 16) pay close attention to the fact that all that glitters is not necessary gold.

This can be an aspect of confusion, delusion, and illusion, especially since Mercury in Sagittarius may be quite exaggerative & perhaps cry wolf one too many times. Neptune in its own sign of Pisces can throw out a different kind light that makes it difficult to discern between fact and fiction.

As they move toward a square formation at this Scorpio New Moon, we’re likely to have to strain to separate reality from “alternative facts,” and to have to decide whether we’re living on terra firma or in the ethers now. If the former, then it’s going to be our obligation to decipher what’s real from what’s not and to make decisions accordingly…

Intuition vs. empirical “knowing” of the “if I see it, then I can believe it” kind reality may prove problematic for many of us at this time. One solution is the aforementioned meditation, which helps us cut through the noise and confusion and derive our messages directly from the divine realm.

Another way to achieve this is through writing! Express yourself through journaling now, or tackling that manuscript you’ve been too fearful to put down on paper. Use this time to empower yourself to get rid of your fears & speak the truth—no matter how painful that might be–so that upon the Scorpio New Moon you’ll more easily plant the seeds that empower you to take charge of your future…
This endeavor is  made easier now by Venus retrograde in Libra’s trine to Mars in Aquarius, which harmonizes our desire for peace, harmony, & beauty with our need to exert ourselves on an ego level.

I’M FIGHTING MY EGO

Jupiter enters its own expansive sign of Sagittarius on November 8, just following the Scorpio New Moon. What this will bring remains to be seen, but it’s surely more purely about Jupiterian/Sagittarian themes.

These include travel (read: immigrants & those from foreign places & cultures), law & politics (read: political policies, both domestic & foreign), higher education (read: the right to free education & student debt), & philosophy, including religion.

Jupiter is THE planet–& Sagittarius THE sign–of expansion of consciousness through broadening ones horizons through these themes. Generally, this archetypal energy embraces all-inclusiveness, living by a moral code, and education & travel as roads toward enlightenment.

This planet and sign DO have their dark side, however…

The Jupiter/Sadge archetype—Jupiter is, after all, the king of the gods—CAN manifest as righteousness or through what the Greeks called “hubris,” or excessive pride. This is the “tragic flaw” shared by many heroes throughout the ages, both fictional and real.

It’s when we become arrogant that we may emit a “holier than thou” attitude toward those around us. But arrogance doesn’t good look on anyone, so allowing ego to overshadow humility, empathy, or sensitivity for the plight of others is something to watch out for this coming year while Jupiter transits Sagittarius.

Instead, use this Jupiterian energy to view your glass as half full rather than half empty! All that’s been unearthed, discovered, & brought out from under that rock while Jupiter’s transited through Scorpio has been meant to empower us on our journey forward, both personally & collectively.

Now it’s time to take what’s been learned and make higher use of it so that we may all remain optimistic about life as we continue to move through it and evolve…

Finally, remember this Scorpio New Moon is about loyalty, trust, & deep bonding on a soul level—it’s representative of an ironclad commitment that can never be broken. And the most important commitment we can make is to OURSELVES!

We now have the opportunity to take back the power we might otherwise place in others who we make responsible for our own happiness.

We’re called at the Scorpio New Moon, above all else, to make the commitment to transform from giving away our power to any external person, authority, or other source, and to bring that power back to self…

I discovered this song, written by the artist Sia—a Sadge Sun!–that I feel most appropriately fits our current energy on the eve of both the Scorpio New Moon & Jupiter’s shift into Sagittarius. Check out the great young dancers calling attention one of the themes which emerged into prominence during Jupiter’s transit through Scorpio this past year!

Lost youth, where did we go wrong?

‘Cause I’m still here

I’m winning it all now
Watch tears while they fall down
I’m winning the war now
I win against ego
Cast light on the shadow’s long
I’m winning from ego

Astro New You Can Use October 29!

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - October 29, 2018 - Blog post

ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE from Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s Sheri Horn Hasan, October 29:

Communication shifts from Mercury in Scorpio’s dark, secretive intensity to a more fiery outspoken tone when Mercury enters Sagittarius late on October 30 or early the 31st, depending on your time zone. This shift can result in less than diplomatic outbursts because Sadge favors truth over diplomacy! Watch out for this fiery rhetoric as we get closer to the U.S. midterm elections November 6…

Mercury in Sadge can be impatient–he’s known to blurt things out spontaneously without thought for the repercussions—AND he tends to exaggerate, favoring the big picture over the details. It would be an understatement to say that this next week will be filled with a number of “hoof in mouth” statements that may or may not be borne out by the actual factual truth…

Regardless, however, while Mercury’s in Sadge until December 1 when he retrogrades back to Scorpio (he’ll station retrograde in Sadge November 16), and again from December 12 until he enters Capricorn on January 4, it’s the perfect time to take up your pen.

Why?

Because—despite its previously mentioned shortcomings–Mercury in Sagittarius creates excellent raconteurs & writers! Record your revelations about that which you’ve grown in consciousness on paper or otherwise…you may or may not decide to share them, that’s not the relevant part, as writing often helps us clarify issues for ourselves first before we impart anything about such issues to others…

When Venus retrograde in Scorpio opposes Uranus in Taurus once again early on October 31 we may experience some surprises leading up to Halloween. However, the goddess of beauty & love moves back into Libra–the sign of diplomatic partnerships–later that day & until December 1.

This Venus retrograde shift in sign provides the opportunity to remember past relationships & to make peace with/about them from the vantage point of having gained greater consciousness between now and then.

It’s a good time to discover more about our true motives in both past and present relationships. Where may we have compromised for the sake of peace & thus become dis-empowered? How might caring more about our partner than for ourselves have affected our relationships ultimately?

Likewise, where might indecisiveness have led to allowing others to take control during these relationships & make ALL of the decisions? Has that served us well or might we want to review this now and think about changing our perspective moving forward, especially once Venus retrograde ends on November 16.

Between now and December 1, however, while she’s in Libra, the Libra portion of the Venus retrograde journey will focus specifically on how we can work to be our own best e, epartner first to ensure healthier partnerships for our future…

Jupiter in Scorpio trines wounded healer Chiron November 1, & we may receive additional enlightenment about how we might review past wounds through expansion in consciousness about them. For example, perhaps we were more complicit in our own wounding than we previously acknowledged, as per that mentioned above? Just some food for thought now…

Venus retrograde in Libra follows with her own trine to Chiron November 3. Release old wounds through your greater consciousness now about them & find the love in your heart to view yourself with compassion.

Astro News You Can Use October 22, 2018

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - October 22, 2018 - Blog post
ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE from “Karmic Evolution’s Astrologically Speaking’s” Sheri Horn Hasan, October 22:

The Sun sails into Scorpio October 23, joining Mercury & Venus retrograde in this intensely deep sign that’s about transforming that which is unconscious into consciousness.

Late on the 23rd, the Scorpio Sun opposes Uranus in Taurus EXACT, & this energetic pattern’s still in effect when the Moon meets Uranus & opposes the Scorpio Sun/Venus retrograde at the Taurus Full Moon on the 24th.

Relationships may break down or break through now, depending, & shocks & surprises may abound. The Taurus Full Moon configuration also forms a fixed cross to the transiting nodes of karma & we may see this sudden unexpected “breakthrough/breakdown” pattern in the world around us as well.

Uranus/Aquarius represents collective energy and the transiting Aquarius South Node square to its modern ruling planet–while Uranus is in Venus’s sign of Taurus and opposing Venus retrograde & the Sun in Scorpio—tells us we’re dealing now with reconciling collective values with personal ones. As always, let consciousness be your guide & try to recognize the deeper meaning of it all, whether that’s through relationships, jobs, material possessions, or whatever.

When the Sun meets Venus retrograde October 26 & the Taurus Moon teams up with partnership-oriented Juno to oppose Mercury & Jupiter in Scorpio we may succumb to the tendency to exaggerate our woes, so no fair crying wolf if there ain’t no wolf in sight…

The Sun sextiles Saturn on the 27th, & we’re provided the opportunity to review what’s been made conscious (especially since the Taurus Full Moon) & to engage in authentic truthful discussions of why we’re where we are now. Use any learned information—no matter how shocking or painful—to further empower your true self & to strengthen your commitment to further self-enlightenment!

Join me for a fuller discussion of these energies & how to find vocation in your chart when Jackie Slevin, professional astrologer, author, & lecturer joins me on Thursday, October 25, @ 11 a.m. P & 2 p.m. E ! See you then! Namaste…

Karmic Evolution’s Astro News You Can Use! October 15, 2018

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - October 15, 2018 - Blog post

This Week’s Astro News You Can Use!

It’s a relatively quiet week astro-wise, except for Mercury who–since he slid into Scorpio October 9—meets retrograde Venus in Scorpio on the 15th.

The waxing monthly lunar cycle completes its tension-provoking first-quarter as the Capricorn Moon squares the Libra Sun the 16th. This cardinal square represents the first big push toward achieving the goal of balancing your own inner unconscious “animus” & “anima,” the task set in motion at the October 8 Libra New Moon.

Release that which no longer serves in your quest for partnership by strengthening your internal relationship to self first before seeking partnership with another or others. Once internally more whole, you’ll reflect that energy out into the universe and attract it back to you in the form of another/others who treat you well!

Mercury trines Neptune in Pisces on the 19th and squares Mars a few hours later. Mercury’s our intellect—how we think and express ourselves, including our soul’s deeper wisdom. In deep, intense, volatile, passionate, secretive, taboo-oriented, & potentially obsessive Scorpio, our thoughts turn toward getting to the bottom of things–like what we truly value…

Our minds may be on ferreting out information about relationships and/or money early in the week, but move toward compassion OR confusion, and then become verbally quick or angry by week’s end.

We won’t likely know exactly how this will play out for each of us until we get there, so probably best to ask the questions rather than answer them. If you do choose to answer, however, remember Mercury in Scorpio accepts nothing less than the TRUTH. So, since it’s about honesty, if it’s not the right time, then hold your responses for another time…

Meanwhile, we’re heading toward the October 24 Taurus Full Moon when the Moon meets Uranus in Taurus to oppose the Scorpio Sun & Venus retrograde, & they all square the transiting nodal axis. Libra New Moon October 8

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - October 7, 2018 - Blog post

The Moment I Step Outside,
So Many Reasons For Me To Run & Hide…

New Moons are seed planting times, and this Libra New Moon at 15-degrees, 48-minutes of the sign of balance, harmony, & partnership on October 8 at 8:47 p.m. PT & 11:47 p.m. ET, calls us to make peace between ourselves & our most important partnership.

Which one is that?

Duh, girl–the one with YOURSELF!

Not what you were expecting to hear? You thought you’d get all that mamby-pamby BS about Libra & love & perfect relationships, &–dare I say it–soulmates here? Gag me with a spoon, as some of us used to say in our earlier years…

This Libra New Moon’s unifying message now—especially in the aftermath of the “we’re not gonna take it anymore!” Aries Full Moon September 24 (read full message here)—is that we must stop looking for that “perfect” soulmate outside of ourselves!

The Libra archetype can represent inner harmony that, when balanced, we project out and manifest in the form of people and circumstances we draw to us. This is the positive side of projection. When imbalanced, we’ll draw to us those who reflect back to us our own lack of inner balance.

In the currently fraught “hesaid, she said” political environment where we can’t help but witness gender & sexual battles both to the right and to the left of us, it’s especially important for us to try to find a healthy balance between the conscious and unconscious portions of our psyches.

We can do this by recognizing that any external battles of this sort represent the internal war between our two inner “animus” & “anima” archetypal energies, which ultimately boils down to an internal split manifested externally.

“Animus” represents the unconscious masculine part of a woman’s personality, while “anima” reflects the unconscious feminine side of a man’s personality, according to Carl Jung’s theory of the collective unconscious.

While a man’s task in assimilating the effects of the anima involves discovering his true feelings, a woman becomes familiar with the nature of the animus by constantly questioning her ideas and opinions.

One can be male and possess a high degree of “anima,” and vice versa. The more a male owns his “anima” and a woman becomes conscious of her “animus,” the greater the chance that a healthy internal energetic balance will prevail…

“You are a slave of what you need in your soul,” Jung said. “The acceptance [by a male] of femininity leads to completion…the same is valid for the woman who accepts her masculinity.”

“One Side Is Standing On Evidence,
The Other On Intuition And Sentiment.”
~ Noah Rothman

While the quote above by its conservative writer is meant to be derogatory of “intuition and sentiment” & to laud empirical “evidence,” it goes right to the heart of the split between anima & animus playing out on the world stage now.

Our current dilemma at this Libra New Moon revolves around reconciling any internally-driven perception that evidence is described only as “provable” fact, while a portion of our psyche is relegated to the dark corner to which our ego has banished “intuition and sentiment.”

The most important thing to realize is that these two energies are not at odds, or certainly don’t have to be! What we’re all called to do now is integrate the male and female portions of our psyches—however unconscious they may be. Only then can we bring this integrated, fair, & more balanced energy into our ego-oriented conscious mundane empirically-oriented daily lives & stop projecting onto others our own reluctance to “go there” intuitively.

“Is is in the nature of political bodies always to see the evil in the opposite group, just as the individual has an ineradicable tendency to get rid of everything he does not know and does not want to know about himself by foisting it off on somebody else.

Nothing has a more divers and alienating effect upon society than this moral complacency and lack of responsibility, and nothing promotes understanding and rapprochement more than the mutual withdrawal of projections.” ~ Carl Jung

I’ve Had It Up To Here…

The Libra Sun, Moon, & Ceres form a waxing cardinal square to Pluto in Capricorn at this Libra New Moon, indicating that evolutionary change is at hand if we can muster up the energy to see it through.

Dwarf planet Ceres represents—like the Moon—a mother archetype. In Greek mythology, she’s the mother of Persephone (kidnapped & raped by Hades/Pluto & eventually made the queen of the underworld.) Ceres, the goddess of the grain, also held the secret to fertilization, called the Eleusinian rites. Without her, nothing could procreate.

Her grief, despair, and anger become palpable when separated from her beloved daughter and–unable to convince the gods to rescue & return Persephone–she starves the earth, and therefore mankind, by no longer allowing crops to grow.

In astrological interpretation, Ceres represents sustenance, or that which nourishes us both literally & figuratively, mind, body, spirit, & soul. Her inclusion in this Libra New Moon’s square to Pluto makes very clear one particular dynamic: that in order to evolve (square) our partnerships (Libra) we must experience DEATH (Pluto) to the inequality (Libra square Capricorn) in our relationships!

So, if we no longer submerge our need to be internally whole, we can incorporate both male & female archetypal energy into our psyches and release our shadow projections. Then we can create something new, because anytime we experience death, we know it opens a space for something new to be born.

And what would that something new be?

A world in which—as our own best partner BECAUSE we nourish our inner need for partnership and wholeness—we project out both individually and collectively harmony, peace, balance, & happiness.

How Do I Love Me?

These squares to Pluto in Capricorn virtually cry out for us to understand that once we value ourselves as our own best partner & nurturer, we forge such a relationship in steel. And when we have that kind of solidarity to self & knowledge that we ARE our own best mother, father, child, & partner, we can’t help but manifest others who’ll reflect back to us that same sense of trust, loyalty, and deep bondedness.

This becomes particularly important because on October 5, three days before the Libra New Moon, Venus stationed retrograde in Scorpio. The queen of beauty, harmony, & balance meets the king of the underworld and all things hidden.

Louise Hay, author of “How to Heal Your Life,” recommends that we look ourselves in the eye in the mirror and say “I love you,” and discusses how difficult this can be for so many of us.

In a sense, this Libra New Moon provides us the opportunity to be born again, to wipe the slate clean, to wash away our old mirror’s reflection–based on whatever it was we were told, taught, or forced to believe about our own sense of self-value–that doesn’t ring true with our soul’s inner wisdom.

Jungian astrologer Erin Sullivan writes in “Retrograde Planets”: “The transit of Venus retrograde exposes the need to see aspects of oneself which are normally hidden from view. Those values are often diametrically opposed to the ones consciously espoused and can create some of the most profound emotional disturbances…The degree of discord that arises within one’s personal life during the retrogression signals the distance that one is from one’s core values and higher creative inspirations.”

Sullivan continues: “Ideally, it is a time to contemplate what one’s deeper, more personal creative needs are and from what wellspring those needs originate. It is a time to explore one’s own needs for love and nourishment and to examine one’s capacity to receive both of those life-sustaining forces.”

The time is clearly ripe for examining our core values to determine what our soul truly needs to achieve happiness—physically, mentally, emotionally, & spiritually–because we are truly valuable, each and every one of us. Where we don’t see our value is where we can be become lost or mired in the tangle of conflicting viewpoints. Viewpoints which represent–at their best–not the objective truth, but others’ perceptions of what they deem to be the objective truth.

Bridging the gap between the intuitive, but less consciously-aware wisdom of our soul that we ARE perfectly beautiful, with our perception of what we deem to be the external world’s seemingly contradictory “facts,” is the Herculean task we’re asked to face right now…

It isn’t easy to smash through major evolutionary barriers. However, by digging under the layers of crust formed by the outer world’s values, we may recognize that submerged deeply under this veneer lies our soul’s hidden gold. Like the veins of precious metals and gems that run beneath the earth’s surface, this is where we find our true treasure.

When we discover this treasure, we realize that it’s really been there all along, waiting to be brought into consciousness…

…and therein lies the salvation of the collective. For if we can project out this great sense of self-love & self-acceptance, we can see that returned to us tenfold…

Don’t You Think I Know Exactly Where I Stand?

Meanwhile, Uranus in Taurus is still square to the transiting nodal axis—and will be off and on into the new year—telling us that perhaps successful evolution won’t come without revolutionary changes to our current value system.

Venus opposes Uranus and squares Mars (still conjunct the Aquarius South Node) and together they all form a fixed grand square to the karmic nodal axis at this Libra Full Moon. It’s clear that the degree to which Uranus will shock us into conscious awareness about our true value is the degree to which we’ve resisted honoring ourselves as worthy over the long term. In other words, the greater the shock, the more profoundly we needed it to jolt us into consciousness.

This fixed grand square to the nodal axis all but ensures that any impetus for change will meet with resistance, which makes the fight even harder. We’re tasked now to look at where we desire change but because of ingrained beliefs entrenched in our psyches (i.e., as my mother used to say “any man is better than no man”), we are unable to make such change happen…

It’s interesting to note that at this Libra New Moon there are no major planets transiting through a fire sign. This makes the collective energy—for reasons I won’t delve into right now—an uber-fiery one, which represents both action and inspiration, impatience and impetuosity, all born of our instinctual and intuitive natures.

Combined with the initiative of the cardinal square by both luminaries and Ceres to Pluto, along with the group-oriented nature of Uranus, Mars, & the Aquarius South Node—it’s easy to see why people are rising up all around us now…

What could be better than using the group to get out the message that EVERY individual has VALUE? It’s through the power of group action that a change in core values can occur, regardless of how long it takes for that change to manifest in the collective…

I’m Just A Girl, Oh Little Old Me
Don’t Let Me Out Of Your Sight
I’m Just A Girl, All Pretty & Petite,
So Don’t Let Me Have Any Rights

Mercury in Libra also opposes Uranus in Taurus and squares the nodal axis at this Libra Full Moon, further proving that not only is it time for a change in our internal value systems, but that the time to speak out is NOW.

This Libra New Moon asks us to ponder what adjustments need to be made as we engage in this evolutionary process, as the messenger god forms quincunxes (150-degree aspect) to both Hygeia (symbol of the female healer) & wounded healer Chiron in Pisces.

Quincunxes are known to be aspects that require adjustments. It’s possible to realize now—as the Libra New Moon calls us to balance our inner perceptions with our outer ones— that speaking about old wounds honors our ability to become whole. And in that way, we heal…

The Libra Sun/Moon/Ceres pairing quincunx Neptune in Pisces speaks of the necessary adjustments that may need to be made to allow our intuition to take up as much space in our brains & decision-making as our cerebral rational function. How can we allow our intuition to influence our ability to speak out about what we may have allowed to lie hidden or dormant out of fear that giving it a voice would prove dis-empowering rather than empowering?

Mercury moves into Scorpio October 9, just after the Libra Moon squares Pluto exact, & the messenger god will exact oppose Uranus on October 10. On that same day, Venus retrograde squares Mars in Aquarius, & I’d say we’re looking at—between now and then—some hidden energy or information coming to light.

On October 11, the Libra Sun exact squares Pluto in Capricorn, potentially fulfilling the promise of the October 9 Libra New Moon’s evolutionary thrust. On October 15, Mercury & Venus will huddle together to create an opportunity for further empowerment, although this may not happen in full view of us all.

Scorpio’s a secretive sign, after all, and the Mercury/Venus sextile to the Capricorn Moon/Pluto at that time may create the opportunity to hatch a plan not yet ready for prime time because this plotting pair involves retrograde Venus & will also quincunx Neptune. That’s a recipe for keeping it all on the QT, as they say, or not yet reacting to the hand that’s been dealt thus far…

Either way, however, what’s in play is unexpected information that could ultimately result in a rapid, or unexpected, change of values within the collective. While Venus’s square to Mars at the Libra New Moon still pits the matriarchy against the patriarchy, we’ll all be tasked to figure out how to rise to that challenge in our individual lives.

Simply put, Venus retrograde in Scorpio may well provide the match that lights the torch that beams the message to the world that she can no longer value peace if it comes at the cost of stifling her own healthy sense of self-worth…

It pays to focus on the positive now & not the negative because it’s the only way we’ll clearly see that being our own best partner means we must stand up for ourselves now, because if we don’t do it no one else will…

Gwen Stefan’s a Libra Sun, born October 3, 1969 @2:09 p.m. in Fullerton, CA. I always suspected she had an Aquarian bent, and sure enough when I looked up her chart, she’s a Libra Sun conjunct Uranus!

In addition, she lacks any planets in fire and is uber-cardinal–a combination that makes her the perfect spokesperson for the strength needed at this Libra New Moon’s square to Pluto, which asks us: How can we evolve is we don’t even try?

Watch I’M JUST A GIRL here
(If you don’t want to watch the whole long video, check out
from 4:45 to 8:10–you won’t be disappointed, I promise!)

“Take this pink ribbon off my eyes
I’m exposed, and it’s no big surprise
Don’t you think I know exactly where I stand?
This world is forcing me to hold your hand

Cause I’m just a girl, oh little old me
Don’t let me out of your sight
I’m just a girl, all pretty and petite
So don’t let me have any rights

Oh, I’ve had it up to here…

The moment that I step outside
So many reasons for me to run and hide
I can’t do the little things I hold so dear
Cause it’s all those little things that I fear

Cause I’m just a girl, I’d rather not be
Cause they won’t let me drive late at night
I’m just a girl, guess I’m some kind of freak
Cause they all sit and stare with their eyes

I’m just a girl, take a good look at me
Just your typical prototype

Oh, I’ve had it up to here
Oh, am I making myself clear?

I’m just a girl
I’m just a girl in the world
That’s all that you’ll let me be

I’m just a girl, living in captivity
Your rule of thumb makes me worrisome
I’m just a girl, what’s my destiny
What I’ve succumbed to is making me numb

I’m just a girl, my apologies
What I’ve become is so burdensome
I’m just a girl, lucky me
Twiddle-dum, there’s no comparison

Oh, I’ve had it up to
Oh, I’ve had it up to
Oh, I’ve had it up to here…”

Aries Full Moon September 24

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - September 24, 2018 - Blog post

We’re Not Gonna Take It (Anymore)

This Aries Full Moon, occurring at 2-degrees Aries/Libra–@ 7:52 p.m. PT & 10:52 p.m. ET–sets up a confrontation between clearly male & female archetypal energies, and between our rational ego-dominated beliefs and perceptions & those that hail from a more intuitive lunar landscape.

Every month a different full Moon sets up an archetypal confrontation between two polar opposites, and between the rational, objective ego (read: Sun) & intuitive, subjective unconscious (read: Moon) realms of our psyches.

This serves the purpose of providing us the opportunity to make conscious our unconsciously-driven (or subconscious) emotions, habits, and deeply-rooted needs for security. The need to release our ego’s attachment to the empirical factual world only, & its reluctance to acknowledge the importance of intangible feelings & intuitions, is what’s highlighted at every full Moon lunation.

Why is this so?

Because when we can release our ego’s stubborn reliance on the empirical world by entertaining the notion that emotions are not necessarily antithetical to objective rational reasoning, we may begin then to integrate any given set of opposite archetypal energies.

In general, the Libra Sun is an archetypal energy that doesn’t feel whole without a partner, and identifies itself as relationship-oriented. Libras are kind, artistic, considerate—they are after all Venus-ruled!

Archetypally, Libra energy applies its principles of fairness, balance, justice, & harmony to relationships, which is why this archetype is so very good at mediation & striking compromises.

The down side of Libra energy, however, lies with the fact that so good is one at seeing, hearing, & understanding both sides of an argument, the result can be confusion about how one really feels.

This can virtually paralyze those who carry Libra energy to any great degree, as they become hampered by their indecisiveness & truly unsure about how they feel about any particular subject.

Such indecisiveness earns Libra the reputation of “fence sitter.”

Further, so skilled is Libra at brokering a compromise, the person forging the compromise doesn’t always realize whether or not the end result of that negotiation will prove long lasting. In other words, will the truce negotiated truly satisfy them forever?

The bottom line here is that Libra prefers to avoid confrontation at all costs and would rather give in or compromise than fight.

This sets up a situation that results often in passive-aggressive behavior by this Libran archetypal energy. In other words, compromising too much for the sake of a harmonious relationship may make us angrier in the long run.

And so any given compromise may come back to haunt us—and often does–sometimes in the not so distant future…

The question ultimately becomes: Where does the Libra archetype draw the line? When does she find that compromise is no longer the answer because she feels too strongly about an issue to sacrifice her dignity, pride—perhaps even her entire identity—as she’s too greatly threatened to compromise away her rights?

In short, when does Libra decide she has no choice but to fight?

We’ve Got The Right To Choose, No Way We’ll Lose It!

The Moon in Mars-ruled Aries is a fighter. This archetypal energy can run the gamut from the violent warrior–in the fight purely to satisfy his blood lust nature–to the higher-minded understanding that one can (& should) fight for those who are too weak to defend & protect themselves.

The Moon signifies our emotions, our inner child, & our intuition. It’s the repository of our past & dwells in the realm memories, habits, & the less conscious behaviors we exhibit throughout our lives. Thus, the Moon depicts female anima energy that uses the intuitive process to alert us to what we need to feel truly secure.

The Moon in Aries seeks to move and express itself freely, be that mentally, physically, emotionally, &/or spiritually.

Aries is an instinctual, naturally proactive energy which manifests often inathletes, soldiers, adventurers, and entrepreneurs, or those who forge ahead independently in any given industry or area of life.

When that freedom is thwarted, regardless of the reason why, this lunar energy can become frustrated or angry.

Aries Moon energy wants action & wants it now! This is soothing to the Aries archetype: witness anyone you know with Aries energy (or a fire Moon for that matter) who needs to run, exercise, scream & yell, or take some kind of outward action when frustrated or angry.

How we manifest our frustration &/or anger in the concrete physical world of our current incarnation is up to each of us. Mars, known to be impatient, impetuous, fast-moving (as in acting before thinking), motivated, & assertive, can also be aggressive, angry, & potentially violent when feeling thwarted. This is the  sign of male sexuality.

At this Aries Full Moon, this more subjective emotional Aries Moon—prone to movement & freedom of expression as part of its need for security–pits herself against a cooler, rationally objective Sun, which believes compromise is the only way to end a dispute.

We’ll Fight The Powers That Be, Just Don’t Pick Our Destiny

One can almost feel the palpably rising tension & anger in the air as we wax toward this Aries Full Moon. And that tension becomes ever more heightened when we realize this lunation forms a cardinal T-square to Saturn.

And Saturn’s in Capricorn, meaning he’s part of the establishment. He believes that rules, boundaries, & barriers form the safest and most structurally sound foundation in life. When crossed, he can be rigidly inflexible, punitive, and adamant in his belief that carrying on old traditions is the best–& only–way forward.

In short, the Saturnine archetype—including as the ruler of Capricorn—often translates into fear of change…

What becomes extremely clear at this Aries Full Moon is that the battle between our need to be free to express ourselves vs. our need for peace born of compromise can fill us with insecurity about in which direction we may “safely” push the envelope.

Do we side with the Aries Moon, which meets up with Hygeia (the female asteroid signifying health) & wounded healer Chiron, the dwarf planet representing karmic wounds, including those from both past lives and this lifetime?

Or do we place our bets on the Libra Sun, Mercury, & Ceres, & simply hope that another mediated agreement will keep everything copacetic—for now?

The implications of an either/or scenario become more fraught when we realize that the presence of Ceres, known in Greek mythology as Demeter, can gives rise to a “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” kind of energy…

Demeter is the mother of Persephone, who’s infamously kidnapped, raped, & taken to the underworld by Pluto/Hades, the ruler of this territory, to become its eventual queen.

However, prior to Persephone’s terms of release (6 months in Hades, 6 months above ground with her mother), Ceres’ grief and wrath at her daughter’s sudden shocking disappearance continues unabated as she begs the gods to release her daughter.

When they refuse—mostly by throwing up their hands and saying “what can we do?”– Ceres storms the earth, unable to contain her rage & grief at what she deems to be an unnaturally forced separation of mother & daughter.

Thus, as she allies with the Libra Sun & Mercury now, opposite to the Aries Moon/Hygeia/Chiron, she seems to be saying “I’m mad as hell & not particularly interested in the establishment’s inability to act right now!”

Crimes Against Nature…

It’s this deeply-rooted karmic anger and grief that the Aries Full Moon asks us now to act upon in order to ultimately release it. She asks us as well to let go of our rational objective animus-oriented reliance on the past as protocol for the future, implying that action is necessary for positive growth & movement forward, and reminding us that progress is not made by standing still…

We realize that revolutionary Uranus—square the transiting karmic Nodes of the collective at this Aries Full Moon—demands change as well. Retrograde, but still in Taurus, Uranus calls us to find new, innovative, & outside-the-box solutions to old dilemmas, particularly as they relate to any old, outdated, or outworn value systems.

Mars on the Aquarius South Node square Uranus says much the same thing, and calls to us to release that which keeps us stuck in a past that refuses to accept change as a natural law of physics.

In recognizing the undeniable winds of karmic change blowing now, we may ask ourselves:

  •  Do we want to go forward or remain forever stuck in our old ways?
  • How can we affect change if we don’t even try?
  • What are our revelations at this time about how we can intuit outside-the-box revolutionary solutions to old problems?

We must remember that stasis is unacceptable, as change is part of the law of natural cycles. Likewise, these cyclical attributes of nature demand to be respected. Anything less will be considered a denigration of anima-related holistic, healing, time-honored intuition, and considered a crime against nature…

Finally, it pays to remember that “hope” was the last thing to fly out of Pandora’s box of evils once opened & sent out among humankind.

We may see some salvation out of this seeming impasse through the positive flowing aspects of the Aries Moon & Libra Sun to the Aquarius South Node/Mars & Leo North Node now.

Any actions taken (read: release) as a result of this lunation can’t fail to move us in the right karmic direction—both personally & collectively.

Let’s just try to remember that killing the messenger—ultimately—won’t do any good for our future prospects of living in peace & harmony. If we can release our karmic wounds so that healing may begin we’ll be able to move into a more positive, less combative, more harmonious future…

…one that doesn’t require so much compromise that the same issues simply continue to arise again and again and again…

It seems most appropriate at this Aries Full Moon to post both the lyrics & video
of Helen Reddy
singing at the Million Women March in Los Angeles in early 2017:

I Am Woman

Helen Reddy

“I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back and pretend

‘Cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever going to keep me down again

Whoa, yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained

If I have to I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
‘Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I’ll come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
‘Cause you’ve deepened the conviction in my soul

Whoa, yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained

If I have to I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

I am woman, watch me grow
See me standing toe-to-toe
As I spread my loving arms across the land
But I’m still an embryo
With a long, long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Whoa, yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained

If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman…”

Astro News You Can Use! September 24, 2018

Posted by Sheri Horn Hasan - September 24, 2018 - Blog post

As we wax into the exact Aries Full Moon tonight, September 24, at 7:52 p.m. PT & 10:52 p.m. ET, we cannot fail to see the issues of male & female, the patriarchy vs. the matriarchy, animus/anima playing out in the collective!

Pay attention to how this applies to your own life!

• Where have you comprised too much for the sake of partnership & “peace?”
• Where do you need to stand up and fight for yourself now?

This Aries Full Moon highlights past traumas—particularly as they relate to the issue of sexuality & disempowerment or forced silence (be this self-imposed or otherwise) as it conjoins wounded healer Chiron and opposes both the Libra Sun & Mercury.

• What’s the message you’ve been afraid to reveal & where have you been disadvantaged by your silence thus far in life?
• How can you speak out about past wounds without fear that others may seek to kill the messenger!

Remember your message is valid regardless of any response to that message!

The Aries Full Moon’s square to Saturn advises us this may require a great deal of courage, and we may have to stand alone—at first…

Try to refrain from victim behavior as Chiron retrograde reenters the sign of Pisces on the 25th, & know that the Libra Sun trines Mars on Sept. 28, which should make it easier for us all to speak out & to maintain the kind of fair & just balance Libra desires.

When Pluto stations direct on September 30, its sets us up for greater empowerment, regardless of how disempowered we may have felt in the past, especially around Plutonian themes that may have remained hidden (sexual harassment/abuse, blackmail, betrayal, manipulation, etc.)—until now…

Join me Thursday, September 27, @ 11 a.m. P & 2 p.m. E, when we look at the upcoming October 5 Venus station retrograde in Scorpio with Julija Simas, professional astrologer & head of the Cosmic Intelligence Association (C.I.A.!) https://karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking/

See you then, namaste…
