SATURN IN SCORPIO VS. THE OLD MAN IN SAG
Saturn into Sagittarius follows his trip through Scorpio, when he traversed the murky Plutonian underworld realm from October 2012 until September 17, 2015.
While there, Saturn sank like a stone into Scorpionic waters, and by settling to the bottom (think a pebble thrown into a pond) allowed bits of sand, muck, and settlement to loosen from their foundation and float to the top.
Thus Saturn allowed many secrets and ugly things–you know, those things hidden in our psyches, our SHADOW sides!–to waft their way upward and become visible on the water’s surface.
Such was the alchemical gift of Saturn in Scorpio–he provided us all a look at the stuff we normally don’t want to see.
Saturn is wise, however, and he knows that it was necessary for us to peek under the hood, or poke our stick under the wormy side of the rock.
While some of us recoiled in horror and waited until those bits of flotsam and jetsam sank again to the bottom of this murky watery Plutonian realm, many others recognized the value of viewing the seamy side of our own shit so that we could expose it and transform it (metaphorically) from lead into gold!
Now Saturn enters the sign of Sagittarius until December 19, 2017. There are no accidents, no random occurrences–everything has a purpose and a point. And it’s up to us individually to recognize this…
As we leave for good (well, at least another 29.5 years) the Scorpionic waters through which Saturn paddled for nearly the past three years, we feel the mood begin to shift…
We are rising out of Hades, and the Plutonic realm where everything is tinged with a kind of secret, intense, do or die energy, and lifting up into Sagittarian heights.
It’s true that with Sag energy the sky’s the limit, but as Saturn moves through this sign he grounds our Sagittarian uber-enthusiasm so that it may become manifest in a REAL and more tangible way.
So Saturn in Sag lightens our load…but it’s no coincidence that his journey through this sign of higher education, law, philosophy/religion, and foreign travel (in short, all the energies necessary for growth in consciousness!) follows his visit to Hades…
It is a natural progression; the way of the cosmos…one zodiacal sign follows another specifically to provide us the opportunity to use their energies as building blocks, to stack one upon another, to move forward one foot at a time, day by day…
Wise old man Saturn, having cleared out some of the hidden psychological muck for us to see and deal with, got rid of what no longer serves our future purpose and growth.
NOW he applies his wisdom to that future path–and he allows us to operate from a solid foundation so that we may actually arrive (eventually) at that place where, before, no man has dared to go…
Mission: NOT So Impossible
Whenever I contemplate the archetypal combination of Saturn and Jupiter (the latter being the ruler of the sign Sagittarius), the image of a helium balloon–who’s string is attached to a lead weight to keep it from floating upward and disappearing forever– comes to mind…
The words I use to describe this image are: “the grounding of a dream…”
Jupiter, the king of the gods, represents expansion. Though the concept of “expansion” can (and does) mean several different things to many of us at different times in our lives, to me it’s ultimately about expansion of CONSCIOUSNESS.
Saturn, on the other hand, gives form–to the ancients he represented the element of lead. Alchemists of yore spent much time attempting to perform the miracle of transforming lead into gold.
These literal attempts at alchemy thus proved metaphorical for transformation of matter into spirit, out of flesh meshed with soul…
To me, this archetypal combination becomes the energetic bearer of an individual’s potential to GROUND HIS OR HER DREAM!
This concept becomes relevant to us all as Saturn segues into the sign of Sagittarius (again, ruled by Jupiter) on September 17 and traverses through Sag until December 19, 2017.
WHAT’S YOUR DREAM?
Practical pragmatic Saturn will now–and for the next two years–be lifted into Sag’s higher-minded, optimistic, more buoyant energies. But always Saturn will keep his feet on the ground, his head out of the clouds, and play devil’s advocate in ways that will ensure we concentrate on building that solid foundation on our pathway toward success.
The combination of these two archetypal energies provide us all with the opportunity to succeed at whatever goal we set. Freed now from at least some of our shadow side compulsions, obsessions, and beliefs–the ones that controlled us and prevented us from moving forward–now we continue to build the solid platform upon which success may comfortably rest.
And succeed we shall, with Sag’s “can do!” attitude and Saturn at the controls!
Think about what you want to manifest in the real, physical, tangible world of matter…now is your opportunity to take those formerly pie-in-the-sky ideas and flesh them out into something true, something real–because NOW is the time to take that “seed dream” and transform it–with Saturn’s help–into matter…
You’ll never know if you don’t try…just make sure you back up your dreams with a healthy dose of reality and you’re on your way…
Eventually, once launched, your dream will light up the sky–as long as you’ve got that Saturnian lead weight at the bottom of your helium balloon to ensure it does not disappear into the ethers never to be seen or heard from again!
YOU CAN DO IT!
Namaste…
